This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce in Selma, Alabama, this 28th day of February, 1922, in accordance with request made by the mother - Mrs. [979].

1. EC: Now in this body, [2657] we are speaking of here, we find that most of the trouble or abnormal condition comes from a specific cause in the system, you see, others affect the organs of the system, produced from reflex condition of the system. The body carries within itself the predisposition towards conditions produced by abuse of self, you see, so that the blood became affected and produced this unhealthy, ungainly, unsightly condition in portions of the body attempting to rid itself of the warrioring between the physical and mental of itself for the mental is very good. This humor or bacilli that is carried in the blood produces the disposition toward that, that would be malignant eventually. This would be of assistance to relieve or help to relieve this body: To two gallons of water, we would add, preferably this should be rain water or distilled water, two ounces of yellow burdock root, two ounces black snake root, two ounces of Elder flower, two ounces of yellow root, four ounces balsam tolu. This would be simmered, not boiled, until reduced to two quarts, strain and add to this, this that has been reduced from a quart to a pint, two ounces prickly ash bark, with four drams of Peruvian bark - put the bark in the original - add one ounce of alcohol to this solution to keep. The dose will be tablespoonful before each meal. This will give an appetite and will relieve this humor in the blood. This will not cure it. This must be through the mind, too.

R2. 1/12/40 Sister [654]‘s wire: “Please give reading at once for [2657] Piedmont Hospital, Atlanta, Georgia, matter of life and death. Something wrong in head - (5) doctors don’t know what’s wrong. Wire or phone reading to Mrs. [979] % Piedmont Hospital, Atlanta, Ga., as you see fit.” [GD’s note: Western Union at 6:19 P.M. tried unsuccessfully to phone EC - his name was misspelled and they could not phone. Later the telegram was delivered but in meantime we heard that [2657] had died.]

R3. 5/22/40 Mother [979]‘s letter: “After his death they held an autopsy and pronounced it pneumonia meningitis…his illness and death was so sudden. I have not yet gotten over the shock.”
