This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 115 West 35th Street, Virginia Beach, Va., this 31st day of October, 1925, in accordance with request made by his father, Mr. [2903].

1. GC: You will give the relation of this entity and the Universe, and the Universal Forces; giving the conditions that are as personalities, latent and exhibited in the present life. Also the former appearances in the earth’s plane, giving time, place and the name, and that in that life which built or retarded the development for the entity, giving the abilities of the present entity and to that which it may attain, and how.

2. EC: (While going back over the dates “See there was a Lester [Leicester?] born here in Anniston at the same time, November 5, 1908. Be a general in this next war we have here.”) [This paragraph listed thus for preservation and indexing purposes only, was not sent to Mr. [2666] or his father who obtained the reading for him. Perhaps it should have been included at the beginning, as a side remark, just as in some other similar instances. GD.] [See 2666-1, Par. R8.]

3. Yes, we have the entity here, and those relations with the Universal Forces as are exhibited and latent in the present earth’s plane, with those urges as are given through those forces as are in the entity’s cosmic forces through sojourn in the earth’s plane, with time, place, name, and those conditions that have to do with the present entity and that ability as is manifested and may be shown in the present earth’s plane.

4. In taking the positions in the present earth’s plane, we find the entity coming from that of Jupiter, with Mercury, and with Neptune and Uranus, all in that benevolent influence of the life, yet with Venus and Mars in the adverse when such are square with the influences of Saturn, as we will see.

5. Then, as those conditions as are exhibited in the present earth’s plane, we find one that has those ennobling tendencies in every condition in which the entity may find itself engaged, using much mental forces, and with that ability to carry out when in that ennobling influence those conditions as are set through the mental forces of entity. One, then, strong in body, in mind, and equally as strong in determinations, and these may be to the undoing, were the mental forces not always guided in the correct manner.

6. One whose greater force, then, lies in abilities of using the body-physical, the mental body, and applying together in the work of the development through the physical plane.

7. One whose interest, then, in the mystic and in the occult will come to the entity in the 26th to 27th year of age, see? for with the square of Uranus and of Neptune, with Jupiter’s influence in the life, these are brought to bear on the entity strongest during that period.

8. In, then, that of the latent forces, we find one that desires to develop the physical in every manner, knowing then something of every character of work as may be applied to the body. This urge we shall see from whence obtained. One we find slow of speech, yet quick of action. One capable of development in the physical prowess, yet would not be well that this be carried too far. One that has those mental abilities and urges to understand the conditions as pertain to physical application of mental abilities acquired in mental forces and physical forces.

9. As to the appearances:

10. In the one before this, we find in that of Van Ness (?), in the days when there was the division among the peoples in England. The entity then the physician to that ruler who overthrew the royalty of that country, and assisted much in the way of the spiritual guide to the entity, see? From this urge we gain that in the present plane toward that of the tendency to study the human body, and the ability to apply in a systematic manner those applications as first aid, whether of the small or great nature. Naturally, then, inclined towards the physician, see?

11. In the one before this we find in the days of the Greek rule, when the entity then in the name Theophilynes [Theopanes?], gaining greater prowess in the physical strength, and the beauty of the strength was shown in the manner that brought the great to the entity in that season, yet the mis-use of same in the latter day brought those conditions that were detrimental to the development of the entity, and we find the abuse of power given bringing destructive forces. Then in the present urge we find the fear of giving off physical forces to an excess, yet desiring to engage in every form of athletic sports that give expression to the body-physical, and from this same condition do we find that wherein it would be more beneficial to the body not to carry those to an excess, for through the influences, as we find, as created by the entity itself in that earth plane, those influences in Saturn with that of Venus, especially, would bring body-physical conditions to the entity; that is, crippled and such like, see? for with the excess to show the prowess, for that favor as would be seen through the excess of same with others, this might be brought to the body, or would be brought. [See 2666-1, Par. R1, R3.]

12. Then, in the one before this, we find in the days when the walls of the Holy City were being rebuilded. The entity then in that of the one who led the forces against Sanballat when he resisted the builders. Then in the name Uslun, and the entity developed in this plane, for we find the entity then staying close to those precepts that had been given to the remnant of peoples chosen to perpetuate the Word in that foreign land, and among those who gathered those gifts together as was given by the King whom those people served, and assisted in many ways to bring the good to his people. Hence there is seen the urge as is in the present day, that to link every form of labor with the better development of the spiritual life in the entity, yet keeping same apart through that as exercised in the urge from the Grecian forces.

13. In the one before this we find in the days when the second rule in Egypt, that gave the message to the peoples in laws, in statutes, in that of the buildings to the Most High, and in those days when the divisions were caused in that country, the entity then in the household of the ruler as the Guard. Then in that of the name Isda, and the entity then sought to overcome the division, and brought consternation and destruction to self through that attempt to bring the uprising at the time when the religious strife was in the upper places, or among the King and the Priests. The entity in this urge gains that, then, of the greater fear of self, and the dependency as is found in that of counsel, for the entity learned its lesson well - in bondage.

14. Then, as to that which the entity may attain in the present sphere:

15. Through all of these urges, then, we find the many ways in which the mental and physical are exercised, bringing then that of the economical, pains-taking, home loving, high minded individual. Then in that of the physician, or in that of the application to those conditions pertaining to anything that has to do with the physical body, or the physical training of the body, would the entity find the greater success and the greater urges. Keeping self in that manner and way in which the training of the mind brings that of the acknowledgement of the Higher Forces as are seen in the Son, for through these may the entity attain the knowledgement as is necessary, for as has been given, “Seek first the Lord and all these things shall be added unto you.” (No questions asked, for fear of breaking into the other reading.)

R1. 11/7/25 Father, [2903]‘s letter:

Mr. Edgar Cayce Va. Beach, Va.,

Dear Edgar,

I have your letter of the 3rd. enclosing data on [2666] and from it one would think you had known all about him for your description of him, physically, mentally, his likes, ambitions, etc. were about perfect and from what you say of his past it all seems to dovetail most consistently.

All of this is puzzling to one for it is mystifying in the extreme and yet there is something about it that leads one to study it in every detail and in doing so it does to seem unreasonable.

I hope I will be able by next spring to be in your territory and see you and have a talk with you along lines of this matter and by that time you will have made more friends in your territory and broadened this out more and possibly know more of the study.

I will be glad to have you write me whenever time as to the unfolding of this and how the people generally view it.

[2666] has just started Vanderbilt and has decided upon a medical future in which he expects to specialize so that he will be above the ordinary physician. It will be long hard grind but he has set his mark and is determined to attain it so he has let up upon active participation in foot ball, basket ball and and other such sports, limiting himself to college parades, rooting at the games (which he never misses) and is devoting himself to his heavy studies in which he is making good…

R2. 8/5/33 Aunt [760]‘s letter: “[2666] is in South America…”

R3. 10/8/33 His sister, Miss [386], heard 416-1. In discussing it afterwards (she did not know her bro. [2666] had ever had his Life Rdg.) she wondered if reincarnation would explain why people react differently. She mentioned that [2666] used to be fond of athletics but had an accident in a football game a few yrs. ago and had since given up any form of athletics entirely.

R4. 3/19/40 Cousin’s letter indicated he had interned in N.Y., had been a ship’s doctor for a time during vacations, and was now practising in New York.

R5. 6/13/43 Father [2903]‘s letter: “[2666] is a Captain in the Medical Corps at Camp …, Colorado. His wife and daughter and son are out there with him.”

R6. GD’s note: During the late forties and fifties I would hear through others that Dr. [2666] had met with HLC and had attended A.R.E. meetings in N.Y. with his family. In the nineteen-sixties his DAUGHTER WROTE OF THEIR INTEREST IN the Edgar Cayce work and their attendance at lectures.

R7. 7/31/79 HLC to GD: “Dr. [2666] died in a hospital on 7/18/79. He had gone in for a check up, they found he had cancer; he died very quickly, did not linger to suffer.” [He had been a practising M.D. in the New York area for many years.]

R8. 7/31/79 GD’s note: In adding Dr. [2666]‘s death notice to his file today, I noticed that the side remark made at the beginning of his reading [See 2666-1, Par. 2] (and inserted at the end of his reading, page 7, paragraph 3, on the file copy only) had never been indexed properly in order to eventually get researched.

I proceeded to look up the name Lester, thinking it must be a famous family name. Finally I looked up the name Leicester, finding it was pronounced the same as Lester. [LEICES-TER/‘les-ter/ 1 or LEICES-TER-SHIRE/-shi(e)r, -sher/ county CEN England area 832, POP 771,213 2 city or county borough, its *, ENE of Birmingham POP 283,549.]

If this is the correct line of Lesters [?] or Leicesters [?], I think the one referred to in the reading must be the last one listed, Philip, 3rd earl (1619-98), because it stated that he “served in Oliver Cromwell’s council of state, and sat in the protector’s house of lords…stood high in Cromwell’s favor”. I call to your attention that the FATHER of Dr. [2666], who obtained the reading for him when he was 17 yrs. old, was told in his Life Reading 2903-1 (6/26/25) that he had been Oliver Cromwell. Mr. [2903] and his wife lived in Anniston, Ala. when their son [2666] was born there on 11/5/06. I regret very much that I did not type this side remark at the beginning of [2666]‘s reading [2666-1] (instead of at the end of the file copy only), because - although the family no longer lived in Anniston

• they certainly might have known the name of another male child born on the same day as their son, in the same town! Now there’s no one left in the family to tell us.*

• [This incident points up the need always to study each reading quote in its own setting. Notice that [2666] was also a “physician to Cromwell” during his English incarnation.]

WAS there a General in World War II who was born 11/5/06 and/or in Anniston, Ala.?
