EC: Yes, we have the body here, [2682]. Now, we find the general conditions of the body very good in many respects. There are rather those conditions of which the body should be warned and immediate action taken toward preparing self for the correction of same. There is seen that in times back there was an injury to the muscular tissue of the side here, where the bloody growth has assumed proportions that need attention or removal now of same by operative measures. Had this been taken in time, it might have been absorbed and eliminated through the nominal channels, but assuming the proportions as it has will mean the operation. This, however, should not be done until proper precaution has been taken regarding the vitality of the body and the blood supply so stimulated that coagulation may take place.
-
After the removal of same, do NOT treat same with radium - but rather with the ultra violet ray; for radium here would tend to burn in a manner as to destroy tissue, that would be harmful. While not an easy or minor operation, it is NOT a serious nor a major condition - but do not operate until proper precaution as to body eliminations and as to proper resistance established. Then this may be done under the direction of a SKIN specialist. Do that. Ready for questions.
-
(Q) What is necessary to prepare the body for such an operation? (A) At least eight to ten days rest from labors and the alimentary canal properly drained and proper food values for rebuilding and replenishing set up. Then it should be by the 18th or 25th of present month. Do not fear cancerous, or such conditions, unless burned by the radiation of such as radium - for the variations here, as we find, while radium reaction is for such conditions, when they have reached certain proportions or conditions - here we would find where those vibrations as has been given as regarding health lights or lamps [See [165] series], if they were only prepared, we would find that effulgence from the carbon and the violet ray or ultra violet ray MOST effective. We are through for the present.

R1. 8/5/29 EC’s letter to Miss [349]:
We persuaded someone else to give place for the reading for your brother [2682]. I hope the information will be helpful in assisting you to get the proper attention for him. I’m sure you recognize the warning given concerning the use of Radium following the operation. This should not be allowed to be used. This, as I understand, is taking into consideration the whole condition that exists and would exist with the body.
I hope we will be able to get the information for your father [5451] at the appointed time, and that it will prove helpful. Possibly you will be here at that time.
Sorry we were not able to get the questions for Mr. [257], but we have not been able to get any time to fill in anything other than emergency physical readings at any time in order to get in a business reading, no matter how much it involves.
With kindest personal regards, I am
Sincerely, [Edgar Cayce] EC:GD
R2. 8/15/29 Sister [349]‘s letter to GD:
Dear Gladys,
In the rush of our departure, I neglected to leave with you the questions for my brother’s [2682] check reading. I understand from Mr. [189], who is here in … that he is to be operated on Tuesday [8/20/29] and that the folks are awaiting the check reading.
Attached hereto are the questions. Will see you Monday as Mr. [2597] and I will no doubt leave here Sunday. Will advise.
Love, [349]
What should the body take to clean out his system preparatory to the operation to be given, as suggested by the rdg? Is Dr. Niles of the Cornell Clinic, 28th St. & 1st Ave., N.Y.C., the proper doctor to direct this case? The doctors say he can leave the hospital the same day of operation. Is this safe? should the body eat any special foods after the operation? What diet should he have prior to the operation? Are the Forces pleased with the attitude of Drs. Frazier and Niles, who read the rdg. [2682-1] and examined the body?
R3. 9/15/29 Sister’s letter submitted questions:
- Is it all right for body to work at this time as electrician?
- Will this work harm him in any way at this time?
- Does body still need treatments?
- Should ultra violet ray treatments be continued and how often.
- Should body make any changes in his diet?
- Does body take right kind of exercise?
- Is wound healing properly?
- Is there any condition in the body of which he should be warned at this time?
- Please give any advice and treatments body should have at this time to correct what imperfect conditions there may be in body?
R4. 9/23/29 See 2682-2, for which he was present, following surgery as recommended. [See subsequent Ck. Physical Rdgs.]
R5. 4/10/30 Sister [349]‘s letter told how EC had helped her and her family [See under 349-6 Reports]:
You remember last summer when my brother [2682] had to undergo a sudden and dangerous operation, and your diagnosis was agreed upon by forty doctors in the Cornell Clinic in New York after his operation. His month’s rest and treatment at your Hospital at the Beach has really saved his life, because, had we not known what his condition was, it might have developed into something very serious.

R7. 2/7/61 Reply to GD’s letter asking him to be on a panel in re the Physical Readings of EC: “I had in mind to relate my first experience with Mr. Cayce. This would begin with my initial reading which I have in my possession, my discussions with Dr. Cornell at the New York Hospital in relationship to my operation. After that I would like to tell about my visit to the Cayce Hospital and also how thrilled I was to see Mrs. [409] take her first steps after being told by doctors that she could never walk again.”

B1. 8/1/29 Sister [349]‘s letter to EC:
Mr. Edgar Cayce 115 West 35th Street Virginia Beach, Va.
Dear Mr. Cayce:
The operator has just hung up after telling me that you wanted to talk to Mr. [257] personally. I am very sorry but he had just left the office to go to Nova Scotia and if you wish, you might wire him on board the steamer Evangeline enroute for Yarmouth. It left the Foot of Murray Street eleven o’clock this morning and will reach Yarmouth tomorrow morning at 11:30. If you will wire me, I will see that Mr. [257] gets your message.
I did particularly want to talk to you because a sudden condition has just come up at my home that has us very much worried. I left my mother crying this morning when I started out for the office. It seems that my brother [2682] who is 23 years old has developed a sort of flesh and blood clot - or tumor - which came from a blow given him by a baseball when he was just a youngster. He has had it for years and years and it has grown very large. We knew nothing about it until last night when my mother discovered it quite by accident, and we have all been worried since.
He went to the doctor but he will now have to go to a surgeon - a specialist, as it will probably have to be cut out and we are so afraid that it may be serious. Mr. [257] said that I ought to write you for a reading first, before my brother goes to another doctor, and Mr. [257] said that if I wrote you this morning, you would perhaps be able to give him a reading right away so that we will know exactly what the condition is and how to meet it. I have to be the cool one at home because the rest of the family are very much worried and don’t know what to do.
