This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 4th day of March, 1942, in accordance with request made by the parents Mr. [2385] and Mrs. [2336], through Associate Membership in the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

1. GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body. You will answer the questions, as I ask them:

2. EC: Yes, we have the body here, [2695].

3. As we find, conditions in the present are developing very well.

4. While many things are to be taken into consideration as to the sources of disturbances, these in the present - as given - are being very well cared for.

5. We would add only those things that, as we find - with that being administered, and the manner of application - may have much to do with the hastening of the correction of the flow of digestive fluids, as well as the outlet of the stomach itself which is the source of the development, or lack of development in normal activity.

6. In the present we would not change the formulas for the feeding, as this in the present is supplying sufficient energies not only for sustenance but for the growth. And it is in the present being fairly well administered, and needs only those changes as we will indicate - unless outside influences cause some disturbance for the body.

7. While it is well that the supplying of elements through citrus fruit, or orange juice, be a part of the diet, DO NOT attempt to give same in the present - until such changes have been wrought that the gastric flow from the lower portion of the stomach, or duodenum, is able to supply those elements that will aid in its proper assimilation for the body-forces.

8. Then, this we would add:

9. After the bath each morning, massage gently into the area from the lower portion of the rib to the caecum with cocoa butter. This side and area massage gently, in a rotary motion, from the area of the upper part of the stomach - or the esophagus entrance to the stomach - to that even of the entrance of the jejunum to colon. This, then, would be especially over the right area of the body, - which may be done better with the body lying upon the back.

10. Then massage the lower portion, from the liver area to the caecum, with the body sitting erect.

11. Then massage the spine, from the base of the brain to the end of the spine, and on each side of the spinal column especially. This also would be given in a rotary motion downward, on each side of the spine and on the spinal column itself.

12. Take the time to THOROUGHLY massage this into the body.

13. Do this, as we find, for the better conditions of this body, [2695].

14. (Q) Comment on the use of the following: Cod Liver Oil (Cereal now being used. Similac). (A) (Interrupting) These we have given now. Use that as being applied.

15. (Q) How often should she be fed? (A) As given. Keep the formula and the manner that is being adapted for the developing body now.

16. (Q) Any precautions to be taken, or advice in taking care of this entity in its physical development? (A) All general precautions as for any body of this age or developing conditions, see?

R1. 7/19/51 Verbal report by father [2385] to sister [1523]: ”…My daughter was left in the hospital in the incubator until Christmas 1941, a period of about 5 weeks. There was no indication that there was anything wrong with her for a period of 2-1/2 months. We did notice that she didn’t go to sleep as quickly as her brother. The first thing that happened to bring this to our attention was so drastic that we immediately took her to the doctor. I was feeding her one night and just as she finished the bottle she spit up her food with one great gush which threw the food over the floor, my arm, etc. It was the doctor’s opinion that the orange juice that we had been giving her had been trapped in the bottom of her stomach, accumulating along with the milk formula, etc., and that it had fermented so that it caused a gas which brought about the gush of food which she expelled. The doctor’s report was that she had a restricted opening from the stomach to the small intestine. Further, he added that only an operation would correct it. He explained that if we kept on giving her milk it would choke her to death since she was continuously spitting it up, and suggested that we cut down on her liquids, giving pablum - which we started doing immediately. I gather that this is the treatment that is referred to where the reading speaks about the ‘treatment being administered’. According to the drawing outlining the exact areas to be massaged (this done by [1523], my sister) my wife pinned the drawings on the wall, and followed through with the massage and other suggestions given in the reading. This treatment was consistently followed 30 days, and after that from time to time gave the massages, and at the age of 6 months she was sitting in her high-chair, eating, and from all indications the condition had cleared up. We consider that through following the treatments outlined in her reading that not only did we avoid an operation, but that the treatments were completely sufficient to bring our daughter’s health to normalcy. At her present age [10 yrs.], nor at any time up to now has she been disturbed by any digestive problems. She has always been a light eater, but I do not consider that this has anything to do with the original condition. In the past couple of years, since moving to Virginia, she has the average appetite of the growing child…”
