This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 11th day of November, 1943, in accordance with request made by the self - [2746], Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research and Enlightenment, Inc.

Time of Reading 3:40 to 4:00 P. M. Eastern War Time. …, Virginia.

1. GC: You will have before you the body and enquiring mind of [2746] present in this room, together with the physical body, his present and future conditions pertaining to his work, and changes of stations, environment and home conditions, mental and spiritual growth. You will advise and counsel the entity in regard to these for future activities, and answer the questions pertaining to his Life Rdg. given May 8, 1942, as I ask them:

2. EC: Yes, we have the body, the enquiring mind, [2746] - this, as an entity, we have had before.

3. In analyzing conditions in the present, and those that portend from present activities, there are many problems to be considered. The ideals and purposes, to be sure, come first. These, as indicated from the entity’s activity in the earth, have been good. There have been periods when there has been confusion, or stumbling, and yet ever with ideals as toward the light.

4. The entity was an Atlantean, as indicated. This experience was indicated because there had been the opportunity in self, in which there was the use of spiritual ideals for self-indulgence. Hence such entities, in each period of activity in the material plane, will either make reparations or - rather should it be said - turn to the law of grace instead of the law of karma, and will come out of the experience as a wonderful success or a miserable failure. They are extremes, just as the entity itself has found in the present. There are periods when there is the decision that something is desirable and you don’t stop until you have it! These are extremes. Time and space and patience are most needed oft, that few souls or individuals are willing to pay the price for - until they grow to be such, you see.

5. Just as has so oft been indicated, one doesn’t fall out of a tree into heaven, or an airplane, or fly into heaven, but one grows in grace, in knowledge, in understanding, in perfecting within self those applications of tenets and truths that bring to the activities the spiritual, the mental growth.

6. Then the physical results are in keeping with the purposes. For it is in Him, the Giver, that we live and move and have our being. Individuals realize, or must realize, there is little they may do save help others to help themselves. In so doing they add to their own stature in spirit, in mind, in body-purposes.

7. So this entity in the various experiences in the earth has had those periods of constant unfoldment.

8. In the Egyptian experience through those periods of turmoil the entity gained, as related to the manner in which individuals of various groups, in various portions of those activities in many lands, needed to be helped.

9. So in the present experience, the entity is passing through those periods that may be represented (figuratively, to be sure) by those periods of turmoil in that land.

10. Hence in making practical application, while all those activities need to be used, it should be for the greater unfoldment for self, for home, for those dependent upon same - when the changes have come about and again peace is found in self and in the earth. Then row the waters no more. Rather gather from them, from the associations, those activities in keeping with the influences which prompted thee in thy activity as may be reflected from the Egyptian experience; and aid in building that which in body, in mind, in purpose, may bring to many others an awareness of their relationship also. Though they may grovel in the soil, though they may count over the money changers, though they may have their various forms of activities, let each be made aware of the fact that all must be messengers of the hope, the faith that is needed in Him for the salvation of the earth.

11. For, as He has given, He is ever at the door of the heart, of the mind. Open and He will enter.

12. Be ever aware of those ideals and purposes that He, the Savior, may be the prompting influence. If He be on thy side, what have thee to fear?

13. Ready for questions.

14. (Q) In view of the uncertainty of existing conditions, did I act wisely in establishing my home in Norfolk? (A) It’s a mighty good place, and a safe place when turmoils are to arise; though it may appear that it may be in the line of those areas to rise, while many a higher land will sink. This is a good area to stick to.

15. (Q) Where should I buy a home? (A) Anywhere in the area of what may be called the Tidewater section.

16. (Q) Is it indicated as to the time when I can expect my next change in duty, and where? (A) This as we find would come rather in the regular channels, that any specific period set in the present. These activities are running in their regular order in the present. The change would be about six months from now. But at the completion of the present unpleasantness (called by some; disturbance, called by others; horrors, called by others), go on dry land and stay there!

17. (Q) At completion of my yard period, where is it indicated that my field of operations will be? (A) That depends upon the choices made.

18. (Q) How can I find interest in the subjects I am required to study? (A) Make the practical application of any subject - this is the only manner in which interest may be acquired. Unless the studies are used, they become abuses - in whatever direction they may be. If one even attempts to study spiritual truths and makes no application of same, they become millstones about the neck! If one studies navigation and navigates none, it will mean little. He may have knowledge, but knowledge in such becomes as that of knowing good and evil.

19. (Q) How may I better fulfil my duties to myself and country? (A) As indicated. When present disturbances have ceased and the change may be made with all impunity to self and country, get out of the sea service.

20. (Q) Clarify admonition in Life Rdg. that great stress exists for me in the month of May? How and in what direction is this indicated? (A) Those are the periods when there will be the greatest stress in the present activities, as well as anxieties in other directions. Those are the natural periods through which the entity experiences external hardships, mental disturbances, and when spiritual discernment is needed.

21. (Q) What causes me to grit my teeth when sleeping? (A) These activities are from purely physical causes, coming from the condition in the digestive system. Take occasionally those properties that will cause better assimilation, such as the combination of Willow Charcoal with Honey; and a few drops of Elixir of Lactated Pepsin after the heavier meal of the day - and this effect will disappear.

22. (Q) How may I overcome what appear to be statical spells at times? (A) These are only the steadiness in self needing to be grounded well in the faith that is the motivating force of every individual entity. Static spells are those in which there is the reasoning with the mental and spiritual ideals of self. Listen for the voice within.

23. (Q) How may I gain more initiative? (A) By depending more on Him and less on self. This is not contradictory, though it sounds so until one puts it to the test. Walk with Him often and He will ever give thee initiative.

24. (Q) Should I seek a permanent commission in the Navy or not? (A) And stay on dry land?

25. (Q) What work should I follow when the war is ended? (A) As indicated, that type or class of work in which the entity was engaged in the Egyptian experience. The entity has learned much of the needs of peoples of many lands. There will be the needs for the understanding in many lands of what the American SPIRITUAL ideals are! You can carry such an understanding to them in ways that few people may! As to whether ye yourself work in the soil, or attend to those activities about a yard, or whether in the home and the preparation of those things for others to attain in various lands, it matters not - but let the spirit of truth direct!

Dear Harmon:

How’s everything around the beach these days? We surely miss being around, especially Tuesday evenings. I don’t believe I have ever found anything I enjoyed so much as those Tue. evening classes (note Mr. Cayce) except maybe the congress week. The way things look now it will be some time before we are back, maybe by the middle of the summer, so don’t forget us. Some of these days when it’s all over, I hope to be around as much as I please so don’t go away.

Did you ever find out about those active membership, whether we are eligible or not? We have received our associate membership cards.

We have also been receiving the weekly bulletin regularly and I want you to know, there is more to those bulletins than first meets the eye, they mean very much to us who cannot otherwise be in touch with the work going on there at the beach. If you didn’t do one other thing I feel that bulletin is one man’s work that will have far reaching effects.

Harmon we are anxious to find out how the reading came out that was to be given on the 22nd of Feb. by some one the readings suggested.

When you have a few minutes, drop us a few lines with all the news. Give our regards to Mrs. Bro and tell hello for the […] and please change our address to …, Fla.

Dear Mr. Cayce

Received your letter a few days ago and was certainly glad to hear from you, even tho some of the news wasn’t exactly what we wanted to hear. I hope everything is in working order again, I believe it is anyway. Mrs. [2454] told me that something was wrong at the beach, she didn’t know exactly what, but she had picked it up twice before your letter came.

We have a program, that we have been carrying out for two months now. Every morning at two o’clock we arise and meditate, I believe it is doing us both good, you can be sure that you are remembered each and every time…

Mrs. [2454] said to tell you not to work too long again before you take another rest. When we got your letter the other day she said she wished we had a place of our own somewhere, where we could have you for a while to feed and take care of you. She would either cure you or kill you, the way she feeds a person, “The Essenes” came today, I sat right down and read it through, enjoyed every word of it, and I know it did me a world of good. Took me all day to finish it, Mrs. [2454] got after me for reading so slow but I have to stop and think about some things.

The date for my next reading is April 1st, I am going to make a bargain with you or try I should say. I want you to take that time and rest if you will but just in case you won’t, I am sending along my suggestions and questions. The reading is my Egyptian period. It’s not that I am so curious about that period, but it seems to be the most important one in making my preparation to come out of the service when this war is over and preparing to do something about those abilities my mental spiritual told me I had, and about doing what I can for the Ass’n. or shall I say a cog in your machine. If you want take this time for yourself, then will you please read over my suggestion and questions before you give the reading.

You have no idea how much I miss my Tuesday evenings at the beach, hope it isn’t too long before I can get aback. Well Sir, guess this is the end of the line for tonite, hope I haven’t taken too much of your time. Ans. if you can find the time, but if time is scarce don’t think twice of it.
