… Steel Co., Time of Reading …, Ohio. 3:15 to 3:30 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. (…, Mich.) (Body & enquiring mind - Physical Suggestion - Questions regarding material affairs)
-
EC: Yes, we have those conditions that surround this body, [277], physically; and the material affairs of the body.
-
In the physical forces we find there are disturbing conditions, though the body in many respects is very good.
-
As we find, however, the disturbing factors may be more easily removed in the present than were they allowed to disturb the body sufficient for the involvement of the functioning organs, and in their functioning so unbalance as to make for distressing conditions of a more serious nature.
-
These have to do with the equilibrium that is distressed through the assimilating system, particularly, and the effects this has produced and does produce upon the vitality of the body.
-
The distressing influences arise from two distinct causes, as we find. One, the high nervous tension under which the body has labored, and does often labor, from the physical standpoint. The WORRIMENTS of the body in this direction make for the contributory causes of the disturbances in the physical forces of the body. There are also those disturbances of a specific nature in the digestive system, and the effects produced upon same makes for incoordination in this portion of the body.
-
The resultant effects are the easy tiredness that often follows after some unusual activity, or a general heavy conference, when the vitality seems to have entirely left the body; a disturbance with the kidneys and the activities of the bladder; the gases on the stomach that disturb the body, producing headaches in the reaction of same, and the general disturbance through the normal eliminations - both in the alimentary canal and in the general reaction to the activity of the circulation.
-
As we find, in meeting the needs of these conditions, while not a great deal would be necessary in the present, this should be rather of a CONSISTENT manner; and because the body feels some improvement do not let up on the treatments or the applications, until the body has regained sufficient stability to make for a RESTORING of the energies of the whole system.
-
First we would be mindful of the diet, and that there is consistency as to the periods, quantities and type of foods taken. To overload the stomach when the body is worried, or under any general strain, is a great DETRIMENT to the better physical functioning.
-
To make for the taking of foods whether there is felt the need or desire of same is equally as bad for the body.
-
The GENERAL outline would be that those foods more of an alkalin reaction would be better for the body. Be mindful that not too much sweats at ANY time are taken.
-
Following each meal, especially the morning and evening meal, there would be taken some properties that will make for a more perfect digestion; which, as we find for THIS body, would be a teaspoonful of Milk of Bismuth with five to ten drops of Lactated Pepsin. This will REDUCE the tendency for the gas formations, and make for a better DIGESTIVE system.
-
It would be well, too, for at least a ten day to two week period at a time, allowing four, five or eight days to elapse between the periods (and we would continue through two or three such periods), that the GENERAL osteopathic manipulations be given that make for corrections along the whole of the cerebro-spinal system and relax the body. These would be given about twice each week.
-
About once each week it would be well that the body be thoroughly relaxed by the use or application of the sweat cabinets and the general rubdown that follows, or the Turkish bath, or Swedish massage bath. These will stimulate the circulation in all portions of the system, assisting in CLEANSING the body as to make for better conditions.
-
These, as we find, will aid in the physical reactions for this body, [277].
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) What exercise is best? (A) A general exercise, but - as stipulated - a great deal of the exercise would be GIVEN the body, that makes for a better balancing in the system. The better is walking or rowing.
-
(Q) What causes annoyance at night on trains? (A) Nervousness.
-
(Q) Why does milk relieve him? (A) Because it tends to make for the activity of the gastric juices, making them more alkalin in their reaction. Hence the curd made from Milk of Bismuth with Pepsin, that creates more lacteals in the system, will be the beneficial properties for the body.
-
(Q) How often should this be taken? (A) As outlined, preferably morning and evening.
-
(Q) Regarding business: What can he do to make business more successful at …, [O.] - … [Co.]? (A) As outlined by the general policies of the organization with which the body is affiliated, the POLICIES are well set up; and the activities of the various individuals in those departments that the individual, or this body, has to do with, if these are followed along the lines more closely as to the POLICIES of the organization we find there would be made better business, better associations, better connections.
-
(Q) What will his future relationship be to [257]? (A) That depends a great deal upon the activities of both, and of their ASSOCIATIONS, as to how far these policies are adhered to or varied from!
-
(Q) What advantage can one be to the other? (A) As outlined in the policies of the organizations, as indicated.
-
(Q) What will 1933 bring to [277]? (A) This depends a great deal upon how much [277] puts into, or exercises self in the directions that make for a well-balancing of the physical, the mental reactions, and those spiritual IDEALS that are set before the body - and this doesn’t mean purely material ideals!
-
(Q) Has he handled …, [O.] plant to best advantage since 1933? (A) That would depend upon who was doing the judging. From the conditions that we see in general, in SOME directions very satisfactory; in some others there’s been quite a question. As we have indicated, the better manner would be to follow very closely to the policies that have been and that are stipulated in the general activities of the organization, as we have heretofore outlined through these sources. For, the IDEALS are well; but NONE of the officers of the organization have at ALL times made the best of THEIR opportunities!
-
We are through for the present.

R1. 3/1/33 Letter to EC from Mr. [277]:
Mr. Edgar Cayce Virginia Beach, Virginia
Dear Mr. Cayce:
In reply to yours of Feb. 21st, I duly received the reading of Feb. 17th. In some respects the reading was very good; but you mention disturbance of the kidneys and the activities of the bladder. I have not noticed any such disturbances. You also mention headaches, but I do not remember ever having had a headache.
In one way I was a little disappointed in the reading. I have had an ailment which dates back for more than fifteen years. I have consulted several doctors in respect thereto with no beneficial results. I was in hopes that your reading might have touched on the subject. What do you suggest as the next step.
Yours sincerely, [277]
R2. 3/6/33 EC’s letter to Mr. [277]:
My dear Mr. [277]:-
More than I can tell you I appreciate your writing me as you did in yours of the 1st. It is very hard to explain by letter our beliefs or experiences even, with information of this nature. We realize too, quite often, that individuals who attempt to tell others of the readings and what may be expected are prone to exaggerate, or to leave false impressions; not intentionally, but from their own experience
- and it is quite impossible for one individual to convey the full meaning of a personal experience to another.
My suggestion as to the next step for you would be similar to that of the Psychic Research Society in their investigation of this phenomena a few years ago. A case was reported to the organization. It proved of such interest that they asked one of their members to take the case and to follow it, with the suggestions given in the reading, irrespective or what he thought of the condition, and to report results at the next meeting. The results in this particular case were so satisfactory that they appointed a committee of three (one man in Cleveland, one in Louisville, one in Minneapolis). Each man was to obtain a reading for a patient and follow the directions in detail himself, whether the findings of the reading were in accord with his own diagnosis of the case or not, and to report results. These three men carried out instructions, and the reports were most satisfactory in each case. [See Dr. W. H. Ketchum’s reports?]
So I would suggest that you begin with that suggested for you, even though it may appear not to be in accord with much that has been told you by the profession, or much that you even feel yourself is the disturbing factor. Do that sincerely, earnestly, persistently, consistently, for a period of two to three weeks. Then make a list of questions of specific nature concerning the conditions that you have been told are causing the disturbance, or as to what you believe is the disturbance, and submit them to a reading. That’s the only way you can prove this information to be either helpful or one of the non-essentials.
To be sure, faith enters into anything of this nature - as it does in most everything of ANY nature.
Now, this may not appeal to you - but I believe you should give the information a fair trial, and come back to the same sources to know the reason why if you do not get the results promised.
About twenty years ago a man suffering from a trouble which the doctors had pronounced psoriasis, had a reading. He was told in the reading that he was merely suffering from a disturbed digestion, and that it was only necessary for him to eat five pears a day - three in the morning and two in the evening, and that in thirty days the trouble would disappear and not bother him anymore. The medical profession
- and the man himself - considered this all bosh, and there was nothing to it at all. The man came to talk with me the second time regarding the reading (I had known him for a number of years). I knew he was inclined to be what we call a good sport, a man who would bet on anything - he would even bet it was going to rain or it wasn’t going to rain. So I put it up to him as a sporting proposition. “You want to be fair and honest. Now you try this, and if it doesn’t do what has been promised, then I’m a liar and a cheat and you’re the honest man; but if you say there’s nothing in it and won’t even give it a fair trial, who is the cheat?” He commenced to try it out. He has been rather a consistent booster for this work all these years.
So, I would like for you to give the information a tryout and let me hear from you again, with questions for a subsequent reading to check up on what has been given and on the results obtained.
Appreciating your letter, and trusting we may be of a service, I am
Sincerely, EC:GD
