This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 10th day of April, 1943, in accordance with request made by the self - Mrs. [2771], Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.
[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno.]
Time of Reading 3:30 to 3:55 P. M. Eastern War Time. …, New York.
-
GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body; answering the questions, as I ask them:
-
EC: Yes, we have the body here, [2771].
-
Now as we find, there are disturbing conditions with this body. The acute disturbances, and those that may be said to be of a more general nature, are different.
-
In the disturbance to the limbs, the sprain in ankle is the more severe, while that in the knee upon the other limb is more acute at the moment.
-
When these are in such condition that there may be the removing of the bandages, we would apply warm packs of Glyco-Thymoline; using three to four thicknesses of gauze, well saturated in Glyco-Thymoline that has been slightly warmed (not hot), bandaged about the areas, and then the electric pad over same.
-
Following the Glyco-application (which should remain on, possibly, an hour each day), massage the areas gently with table salt saturated well with Pure Apple Vinegar.
-
These will prove the more helpful for the body, and work in conjunction with the acidity that is a part of the general disturbance.
-
As we find here, in the general disturbances of this body, [2771], - there are those taxations to activity of the liver, the heart and the lungs. These cause the disturbances in the circulation and in the eliminations of the body.
-
Owing to the disturbance in the eliminations, the excess acidity, the disturbances in the liver AND the acidity cause the nervous strain through the digestive system, that finds expression at times in the salivary glands in the mouth, - soreness, or the irritation on the inside of the mouth and the gums; as well as the pains through eyes, tiredness.
-
Overactivity accentuates these disturbances and causes greater stress or pressures upon the nerve centers.
-
There ARE areas along the spine that need relaxing, as well as correcting. For, the strain that has been produced by the jerking or falling of the body has caused pressures in other areas, - the correction of which would aid in adjusting these conditions.
-
It is at the hypogastric center in the upper dorsals that there is needed the greater attention or correction osteopathically, while those centers in the lumbar and sacral area need coordinating with the adjustments that will be made there; as well as in the area of the upper dorsals - that is, the 2nd to the 1st, and throughout the cervicals.
-
The headaches are more from this hypogastric acidity than from other causes. The removal of the pressures in the cerebrospinal system will aid in eliminating these disturbances.
-
But we would take internally those properties to aid in producing a better gastric flow, and a gastric balance; thus removing those stresses upon the hypogastric and pneumogastric center. Take Glyco-Thymoline internally about three days out of each week, as an intestinal antiseptic. Take two or three drops in water, two or three times a day - during the two or three days each week. Do not take this haphazardly, but set certain periods or days, and take it consistently.
-
Then be mindful of the activities of the body, and we will bring better conditions for this body.
-
For the disturbance in the areas of the lower sphincter centers, where there are the tendencies for the hemorrhoids, we would use this combination of oils as an ointment - but injected with a force syringe, as in a baby syringe or ear syringe. To one ounce of Glycerine add two drops of Carbolic Acid. Stir thoroughly together. Then add two ounces of Usoline or Nujol. Inject some of this right after each stool. It will be well for the body, for a period, to relax and to eliminate those folds or protuberances that exist from these conditions. But the osteopathic corrections should also aid in correcting this condition.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) What causes pains in left side of face? (A) These are pressures from the hypogastric center.
-
(Q) Frequent insomnia? (A) The nerve tensions and the lack of proper eliminations.
-
(Q) The frequent herpes on lip? (A) As given, from the stomach.
-
(Q) Why do I wake up sometimes with a fatigue I am unable to shake off through the day? (A) As indicated, this is superacidity in the system. Hence the necessity of there being not only the osteopathic corrections of the pressures upon the ganglia through the areas indicated, that cause incoordination between the cerebrospinal and sympathetic nervous system, but the correcting of the acidity in the body. For, with these conditions, the overactivities of the body cause those reactions to the sensory forces.
-
(Q) What at present is the status of my menstrual function - is the old difficulty finally cured? (A) It is going to be upset for the time being, but with the corrections and the general system rehabilitated, as it were, to the coordinations, these conditions should be corrected.
-
(Q) Is my body functioning well as to metabolism, calcium assimilation, and blood chemistry? (A) Not as well as should be; for it has been indicated as to how the liver, the lungs and the heart are involved. These will be corrected if there are the osteopathic corrections made, and the balancing of the chemical forces of the system.
-
(Q) How can I improve my powers of concentration? (A) When there is removed a great deal of that distress between the coordinations of the cerebrospinal and sympathetic system, these should come back to near normal reactions - and concentration will be easier for the body.
-
(Q) What can I do to secure better emotional stability? (A) This is of the mental self, that - with the correction of the nerve pressures - may be controlled within self.
Do those things indicated, both for the acute and the general conditions, and we will have better forces and influences in the body, [2771].
- We are through for the present.

Reports & Follow-up
R1. 4/22/43 Mrs. [2771]‘s letter to EC:
Dear Friend,
Just a line to tell you how pleased I was with my reading. It was just perfect. The doctor had thought there was a fracture on the metatarsal arch, where I had had one before. After my reading I called and asked him if the mark in the picture could be anything else and he said it might possibly be the scar tissue left from the old break - and it must be that, for I’m able to walk now without crutches.
And last week I had the first hemorrhage during a menstrual period that I’ve had in two years - just as the reading predicated - but I wasn’t nearly as alarmed as I might have been.
I expect to see Dr. Coulter next week, but the reading doesn’t say how many treatments I will require, and I’d like to know, for he’s quite expensive, and perhaps would make a more reasonable rate for a group of treatments.
We all think of you, and speak of you often, and thank God for having brought you into our lives to help us to live better, and do better -
Our love to all - that is [2772]‘s, [2779]‘s and your sincere friends [2771]
R2. 10/4/43 Dr. Geo. N. Coulter’s letter: “Mrs. [2771]:
“The physical findings agreed with the findings of the reading. Under treatment her condition improved very much but the patient did not continue treatment until symptom free. Treatment started 4/26/43.”

B3. 3/22/43 Afternoon, Rdg. attempted: “Yes - As we find, there is not sufficient concentration here. We are through for the present.”
B4. 3/28/43 (Sunday) Mrs. [2771]‘s letter to EC:
Dear Mr. Cayce,
I’m very sorry that you had such a difficult time with me last Monday, but I’m afraid I had myself to blame to a great degree. I did stay at the Law School, but I was very restless as Doctor [2772] had gone to the Procurement & Assignment office for a physical, having been called by the army a few days before. I hope with all my heart that they will not take him as I don’t believe his leg [phlebitis] will stand the strain, but he told them nothing, for he would not have it appear that he was not willing to do his duty.
Any Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday afternoon will be alright for me. Saturday afternoon is best however, for I can relax at home.
I hope Mrs. Cayce is well, and Hugh Lynn and his lovely family. We think of you all often - and remember Gladys with such deep affection.
[2779] and Doctor [2772] join me in sending love to you all
Sincerely [2771]
We appreciate your interest in [2779] [son]. It is still very difficult for us to understand what the readings are trying to say. [903] is out of town so we’ve not been able to get their help. We hope your continued interest in obtaining information from time to time will enable us to direct [2779] so that he may improve himself and we can get further help to enable him to progress in the direction to which the readings point. If you have the time to go over his readings and can give us your interpretation it would be so deeply appreciated for our desire is to guide him to the paths thru which he may best serve the world. [2771]
B5. 4/10/43 Phone verification by husband, Dr. [2772]:
“She had a severe fall, is now on crutches. Wants to ask this additional question, if it is not covered. Will be at home, of course. Kindest regards to all.”
