GC: You will answer the questions he has submitted, as I ask them:
-
EC: Yes, we have the body here, [2772]; this we have had before.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) Is golf too strenuous an exercise for me? (A) No; if this is taken in an even stride and not too tiring, - that is, taking too long periods at same, - golf is very good for the body.
-
(Q) What is this rash on my body? (A) This is the attempt of the system to adjust itself to those changing conditions of the body, - or as a heat, or the acids being eliminated through the perspiratory system rather than through the alimentary canal or the ordinary channels. This, with the change in temperature, and with keeping the body fit, will disappear.
-
(Q) Can four or five weeks elapse between the first series of treatment and the second? (A) At least five or six weeks should elapse. For, the body shows improvements, but there will be the tendencies - to be sure - for a reverting, as indicated in the conditions in the deeper circulation; though many of the conditions were, as indicated, still in their incipiency or beginnings. Hence the rest period and the body taking a nominal amount of exercise, and keeping close to the diets and those things the body knows to keep in physical fitness, will be helpful. Then after five to six weeks we would take the entire course again.
-
(Q) What precautions of diet should I follow and what especially should I eliminate from my diet, if at all? (A) Any of those things made with carbonated water or hops, and that carry too much of starches or sweets, - these should be the things eliminated.
The diet in most instances since last we had the body has been very good. It would be well to keep in that way.
-
(Q) Should I make the Jerusalem artichoke a part of my diet all year round? (A) It is better that this be taken occasionally; that is, take it for five or six weeks, and then leave off for a like period. It is more effective when taken in this manner.
-
(Q) Do I work too many hours per day at the office? (A) This depends upon circumstance. As we find, there are TIMES when the body overtires itself to the detriment of the better physical forces, but the normal hours are very well. Just don’t overtire self, or work under too great a strain.
-
(Q) How many hours of sleep do I require to be thoroughly rested? (A) Seven and a half to eight hours should be the normal amount for this body.
-
(Q) Should I start taking my vitamins now? If so, what combinations? (A) As we find, the Vitamins B or the B-1 Complex, - and this includes, of course, a little iron - but not too much.
-
(Q) I have been taking a medicine to regulate my metabolism and glandular function. Should I continue taking them? (A) This as we find will not work so well with those normal changes that are being wrought by the change in the body-functionings.
-
(Q) Describe exercises for me as mentioned in first Rdg. (A) A walking exercise, and the general setting up exercise, - that above the waist of mornings (arms, etc.), and that below the waist of evenings. These are the preferable ones for the body.
-
(Q) Would it be advisable to try to eliminate the prominent veins on my legs by injection? (A) We would NOT. Do this rather by the normal activities as will be had through portions of the hydrotherapy treatments.
-
(Q) Would surgical interference which would eliminate some of the veins, and ligate others, be a good treatment? (A) We would not advise such. This would only make for hardships in other directions.
-
(Q) What caused me to become nauseous Thursday night July 30th, so that I had to get up to vomit? (A) Something taken in the meal that was of a foreign nature. This was not other than the system taking care of itself.
-
(Q) What is present physical condition, and any other advice? (A) As has just been indicated, there is shown quite an improvement. And when there has been the rest period, with the precautions in between, we would repeat the suggested treatments.
And we should find the body then in very good condition - unless there are other conditions arising not indicated in the present. Do that.
- We are through for the present.

R1. 9/25/42 [2772]‘s letter to EC:
Dr. [2772] …, New York
Dear Mr. Cayce et al -
After this prolonged period of procrastination I am almost ashamed to write to you. But anyway here I am.
I have been following the suggestions as given in the readings and can honestly say that I feel better than at any time in the past two years.
Soon I will be starting my treatments at Reilly’s again because I do not wish to lose any of the benefits derived from the first series of treatments.
There are many things I would like to write about but I do not have the patience right now for a long letter.
Enclosed is an application for a physical reading for a friend of mine, Mr. [3013] (?). Please arrange for the earliest possible date for his reading.
Recently [257] and I were visiting a mutual friend of mine who told us about a tree in front of his house that seemed to be dying and would have to be cut down. [257] suggested maybe you in one of your readings could find the cause of the trouble. Is it possible? If so - it would be very interesting. The man’s name and address is as follows: Mr. Morton Rosenthal, 55 Lyncroft Rd., New Rochelle, N.Y.
The day you could not find me I was at Lake Dunmore, Vermont and was quietly sitting in a boat trying to commune with you.
Please be assured that you have been of great service to me, and I am recommending some of my friends so that you can help them too.
Kindest regards to all, [2772]
R2. 9/29/42 EC’s letter to [2772]:
Dear Dr. [2772]
Thanks for yours of the 25th - am glad for you to know that you are feeling much better - after following the suggestion given in your reading - that is what counts, but all the Praise is to HIM, and not to me, just hope you will continue in the good way and will be able to give better service to others for same.
Will be glad to hear from Mr. [3013] when he feels that he would like to give the information a try, trust we may be the means of being of a service.
Have never undertaken any thing of the kind as you and [257] suggest that is regards a tree, would be of interest no doubt
- do not know just how such a question could be put - some such things have been given voluntarily but when such were attempted often of some what a similar nature - there would little if any satisfactory answer.
Do not know how or why could not locate you the day you were at the Lake fishing - possibly was not definite enough, yet have had experience when there was not near as definite a location given - in fact have taken people up while on trains or motor cars, - but there is much more than we do not understand about the phenomena, that we even fell [feel] we partially do understand.
Thank you very much - to be of a service and help - is my purpose if I know myself at all.
Please remember us to Mrs. […] and with every good wish to each of you
Sincerely, [signed] Edgar Cayce
