-
GC: You will give the physical condition of this body at the present time with suggestions for further corrective measures, answering the questions, as I ask them:
-
EC: As we find here it might be said that if there had been consistent use of the suggestions first indicated there need not have come about such a condition in the lower limbs.
-
There needs to be corrections osteopathically made in the lumbar and sacral areas, so that there is the relaxing of the muscular forces and tendons in the sciatic area and the limbs.
-
These treatments we would have about twice a week.
-
Once a week do apply warm packs of water over the muscles of the lower limbs. This would preferably be done by wringing out large towels in hot water in which there is put a good quantity of witchhazel - about an ounce to a gallon of water; not so hot as to burn but to open the pores and relax around the knee and the muscular forces.
-
Following such packs give the body a massage with an equal combination of Olive Oils (heated) and Tincture of Myrrh.
-
Do make the corrections in the feet and in the bursae of the feet when the treatments osteopathically are given.
-
Do these and we should bring bettered conditions.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) will this treatment get my legs straight again? (A) As we find it should aid in correcting these conditions. There must be the corrections osteopathically made in the lumbar-sacral.
-
We are through with this reading.

Reports & Follow-up
R1. 2/16/62 Mrs. [2773] visited A.R.E., as she and her husband [she had remarried] were leaving on a Caribbean cruise, and made these remarks about her condition and her readings:
On 12/7/41, Pearl Harbor Day, I was rushed to the Cleveland University Hospital with extreme cramping; they found nothing to indicate cause; experts stated the condition was more like beriberi, polio, multiple sclerosis, sleeping sickness. I was completely exhausted and almost completely paralyzed. Afterwards I improved but off and on had periods of anxiety and exhaustion, which I still have at times even yet.
“At the time of my first reading [2773-1, on 6/26/42] I was not ill but not up to par. I had suffered horribly with my menopause; finally had deep x-ray therapy because I was hemorrhaging to death.
“I took the osteopathic treatments and they helped.
“At the time of the reading I asked everyone to leave home so I could be quiet and not to accept any phone calls. I lay down in the sun room, felt very sleepy, awakened in thirty minutes, about the same time the reading was being given.
“The description in the reading was confirmed by my son-in-law who is a doctor. (Where do you get the Tonicine - I didn’t use that.)
“It’s interesting that the reading [2773-1] mentioned the diet as being the main cause, and the experts mentioning a similarity of my condition six months previous with that of beriberi.
“Another interesting thing is that an oil rub was recommended for ‘rough places’ which I was not aware of, but later a very severe dryness of skin and rough places appeared.
“The second reading [2773-2, on 3/17/44] was sought because of a persistent cramping in my stomach, very bad. I had the osteopathic treatments by my son-in-law, who is a chiropractor. A nurse had to apply the hot packs for me. The doctors stated that the muscular disease resulted in a tightening and stiffening of the tendons, which is referred to in the second reading. I gradually got so I could walk again and have gotten along fairly well until lately when I’ve suffered with acute arthritis. My ankles swell and are apt to give way with me without warning, as I have no strength in them.”
[GD’s note: She obtained a copy of both readings, thinking perhaps some of the suggestions might still be of help to her. I might add here that she certainly did not look to be 70 years old! To me she seemed a large, buxom-type woman, not more than 50, which was her age at the time of the first reading!]
R.2 10/17/2002 JT’s note: ARE Member, Ed Edwards from Arizona donated THE EXTRA PHARMACOPOEIA, Vol. I, Twenty-Second Edition published in 1941 by Martindale of London. On page 739 a formula for Tonicine is listed as follows: (Reed & Carnrick, Jersey City; Coates & Cooper, London) Liquid gonadal tonic. 1 dr.= fresh testicle 25 gr., strychnine sulphate one two hundredths of a gr., sodium glycerophosphate, 1 gr. There may be other formulas.
