GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time, giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body; answering the questions, as I ask them:
-
EC: Yes, we have the body here, [2797].
-
As we find, there are conditions which disturb the better physical functioning of this body. These are rather of the complex nature, as much of the disturbance is of a nervous or reflex nature produced by glandular disturbances through the body.
-
These, then, are conditions as we find them with this body, [2797] present in this room:
-
First, - in the blood supply, - while nominally this is apparently very good, there are erratic reactions in same, produced by those conditions caused in the activity of the assimilating and distributing forces in the digestive area. For, periods arise when there is the nervous digestion, when there are conditions apparent from other reactions as may be indicated from nerve tensions - which cause a form of condition in the circulation through the alimentary canal, as well as in the superficial circulation, as to produce irritation.
-
This causes contraction through the muscles in the activity of the peristaltic movement of the intestines themselves. Thus those conditions in the duodenum, and at times through the colon. These are purely reflex, from those conditions where there is the lymph disturbance.
-
In the throat and nasal passages there is produced an extra flow of lymph that is active in the mucous membranes. This becomes infectious from the lack of the proper flow, or the hormones in the blood itself, or the white or lymph blood.
-
This produces greater irritation to the mucous membranes, as well as to the upper portion of the stomach itself. Hence we have an irritation along the lower end of the esophagus, portions of the cardiac part of stomach, and then these reactions from the nervous forces cause the pylorus to have a spasmodic reaction.
-
These, too, are reflexes from nervous forces, yet - as indicated - become infectious in the nature of the reacting upon the mucous membranes of the nasal passages, the throat and bronchi, and eventually through the FLOW OF THIS LYMPH the pains through the alimentary canal.
-
As to the activities that produce this, - from the nerve system AND from the activity of the glands themselves:
-
For some time back there has been a pressure in the 3rd and 4th cervical that deflected the flow of the impulse in the sympathetic and cerebrospinal reaction. Hence the localizing of the disturbance to the face and the soft tissue in throat and head.
-
The glands in the thyroid, in the adrenals, and at times even of the pineal become involved in same, sympathetically; from these pressures as they exist in this body.
-
The effect upon the nerve system as indicated, is to cause the glands that secrete for the lymph activity in the digestive forces to supply such natures that, lacking in the leucocyte impulse, do not heal - or do not throw off the disturbance.
-
Hence we will find at times that these areas become swollen, from the attempt of the body to adjust itself with the lack of this proper impulse for healing or coagulation in the blood force; producing a form of infection. That it has not become acute, save at times, it is a good omen, as might be said.
-
And these conditions maybe relieved, if there is the systematic reaction given the body forces as to aid in bringing normal impulses through the body.
-
As to the nerve centers involved, - we find that certain areas give greater distress. Not always is there dis-ease or the lack of normal flow indicated in the same areas; but even at times there is the involvement of the impulse of locomotion, or the centers through which the sensory forces become active. Nothing tastes just right at times. Even the vision causes some diffusion, - as blurs or the like. The feelings and the reactions are such as to cause not exactly hysteria, but an “all overness.” This is the drawing, or the attempt of the body to ADJUST itself through the activity of the olfactory forces in the body itself.
-
In the organic reactions, - the impulses and reflexes of the brain forces are good. The reflexes through the sympathetic and the nerve forces are erratic, as indicated. This causes the activities in the nervous system to be of the natures that some days the body would feel very good, at others upset by conditions of a mental and of a physical nature. Either of these might cause reactions as to disturb the body.
-
We find that disturbances arise in the throat, bronchi and larynx, - as through the soft tissue of the antrum, as well as the sinus; swelling of the membranes, causing the sensory forces or the olfactory nerves to become enlarged.
-
The flow of lymph from these causes a reaction in the digestive forces, and this continues as a vicious cycle of nerve tensions to the body.
-
The eliminations become involved from same.
-
Irritations in throat and in larynx arise occasionally.
-
Lungs are very good, though pressures appear through the lungs (no organic disturbance) when there is the drawing of the lymph and nerve impulses upon the body for the reactions or distresses in portions of the body.
-
As to the activities of the heart in relation to lung, liver and kidney circulation, - we find no organic disturbance, but an erratic - or quite a variation in the - heart beat itself at times.
-
The digestive forces are disturbed, as we have indicated, but there is no organic disturbance in the liver or in the digestion - that is the balance more often maintained in the activity of the gastric flow. This is rather of the nature of a sympathetic condition, from the causes indicated.
-
Through the activities as related to the circulation from liver to kidneys, - here we do find disturbances; as the body become allergic to foods at times. These cause not an organic condition but a reaction from the activity of the organs themselves. Hence we find those periods when there is the nervous indigestion, or other periods when there would be a nervous digestion; that is, certain characters of foods taken do not digest at all at one time and at another period - with certain combinations - would pass almost immediately through the digestive area in the pylorus and throughout the duodenum.
-
Thus, foods coming into activity in the upper intestine or jejunum cause at times the acute reactions in the muscular tensions through those areas. This is a sympathetic condition, not one of an organic nature; rather a functional condition.
-
Then at such periods the kidneys cause a disturbance, by the overacidity in the system. The eliminations from kidneys cause irritation through the organs of the pelvis. These at times cause a great deal of uneasiness and nerve tensions through the body.
-
In making corrective measures for this body, - while there must be specific applications or characters of activities through the body, we find that the secondary conditions or reflexes that have been produced must be taken into consideration during such periods of activity.
-
Here we will find, however, that the hydrotherapy, with the corrective massages, using a very mild form of electrical energy, will bring the better conditions for this body. These we would have administered by Reilly, or those activities there, - as this:
-
First, - we would have twice a week, for the first two or three weeks, a very mild sweat, - this with the fume bath rather than with the dry heat. For this body, with each ounce of witchhazel when it is put in the container to produce the fume (not before), we would put ten drops of Rose Water; this to be done at each period, see? Of course, we would begin with a very mild or light cabinet heat, you see; then the fume bath.
-
Follow this with the needle shower, hot and cold; very hot, very cold; the sitz bath; then the thorough rubdown. Following the massage, use the equal combination of Olive Oil and Peanut oil with Lanolin in same.
-
When there have been at least three of the general hydrotherapy treatments given in the manner indicated, - we would begin then (not before) with osteopathic adjustments. We would not have these done at the same place as the hydrotherapy, but rather have them made by Dobbins or associates in such activity; with particular reference to the 2nd, 3rd and 4th cervical; 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 5th dorsal; AND the coccyx end of the spine. These should have corrections, but not complete adjustments until these areas have been thoroughly relaxed with the gentle massage.
-
With every other meal, or at least once each day following whichever is the heavier meal, take internally two to five drops of Elixir of Lactated Pepsin and a quarter teaspoonful of Milk of Bismuth stirred together in half a glass of water.
-
After the fifth hydrotherapy treatment, we would then have a colonic irrigation.
-
This would be after the second of the osteopathic adjustments, and after the fifth of the hydrotherapy treatments with the massages.
-
In the matter of the diet and the exercises:
-
Do have walking as the principal exercise.
-
No fats in the diet. The meats should be fish, fowl or lamb. No fried foods. Only the yolk of the egg should be taken. Rarely take such as beans that are dried. The green or leafy vegetables should be the principal ones used for this body.
-
Do drink plenty of water, but nothing with carbonated waters in same. The body is more allergic to carbonated waters, or carbons in any form, than to other things.
-
Do these, and we will find bettered conditions for this body.
-
In sixty to ninety days we would give further instructions.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) Why do I have such terrible cramps when I menstruate? (A) This is part of the conditions that exist in the glandular reactions. When such cramps arise, apply heated salt on which there has been dropped (while hot) about five drops of Atomidine. This used with an electric pad, over the areas of the pubic center, will relieve the tension. When the adjustments in the coccyx end of the spine are coordinated with the adjustments in the dorsal and the cervical areas, these cramps should disappear - or any disturbance with the organs of the pelvis.
-
(Q) Why do I always have a pain and a heavy feeling in the right side of my abdomen? (A) Because of the lymph activity through the digestion, as we have stressed here. This is the area from which there is the distribution from the activity of the lacteals. And there are pressures caused there from the drawing on this area for lymph flow through other portions of the body. Hence, as indicated, do not take fats, - that is, fats in meats or great quantities of butter or of sweets, especially during the periods of these treatments. And with the massage, when the body is thoroughly relaxed, this should be a part of the treatment; kneading, gently, the upper abdomen. For, as indicated, this irritation through the jejunum is a part of this heaviness in the right side.
-
(Q) Why are my teeth getting deep sensitive ridges in them? Can it be stopped? (A) From lack of proper amount of circulation and of calcium in the body; though calcium added to the body in the present would be detrimental rather than beneficial. But with the character of foods indicated, and with the applications made for correcting the impulses and the glandular forces, more calcium will be taken from the foods and eradicate this disturbance.
-
(Q) What is wrong with my right foot and leg, that it feels partially numb all the time? (A) Only impulses. This as we find will be part of the adjustments made in the general massage, and the causes of same will be removed in adjusting or correcting the pressures in the coccyx area that lead directly to the sciatic nerve and the feet.
-
(Q) Is there a cyst in my right frontal sinus? (A) A spot, not a cyst. This spot is where infectious forces have made a sensitive or tender area, as would be a bruise or a scab or a rough area.
-
(Q) What causes the rash on my forehead? (A) Read that which has been indicated as to the circulation to the superficial portion of the system, by the lack of energies being carried through the body and lack of proper eliminations. These conditions will disappear.
Do these things as we have indicated, and in sixty to ninety days we would give further corrections - if these are necessary.
Be consistent, be persistent; and as ye apply thyself in making the corrections, let it be for good, - that is, not for the gratifying of self alone would the health be regained or maintained, but to be an expression for a manifestation of a purpose for good, for God, in the earth.
- We are through for the present.

Reports & Follow-up
R1. Questions submitted answered without being asked:
Why do I always have so much mucous in my head? Am I allergic to anything? Is there a small growth or rough spot or anything in my left nostril that is causing me to sneeze when mucous draining down from my head touches it? What makes the fat or swollen lump on the outside of each ankle - what can be done to get rid of it? Why do I always feel nauseated? Why does my intestine fill with gas after eating? Is my colon paralyzed as doctors have said? What causes me to be awakened out of a sound sleep by a sharp pain in my right eye after which my eye pains & runs water just as if some sharp foreign matter had gotten in it? What is wrong with my right foot? Why does my right foot and leg feel partially numb all the time? Why am I always completely exhausted and sleepy even when I first get up after a good night’s sleep? What causes my legs to get almost blue with small white spots on them? [Said the doctors didn’t know whether it was sinus or not - been going to doctors for fifteen years and sanitariums trying to get relief.]
R2. 8/12/42 Friend Miss [2582]‘s letter:
Dear Gladys:
I received a letter today from Mrs. [2797] who at one time worked in the Court Building where my office is located, saying she had made an appointment to have a physical reading on the 18th. I saw her one day in town when she was visiting here and told her about my experience because I know that for ten to fifteen years she has been having trouble and has been to all kinds of specialists and sanitariums trying to get relief. I’m terribly pleased that she is interested and only wish she knew more about Mr. Cayce’s work. I sent her a copy of my reading and the small pamphlet on Mr. Cayce. When she comes perhaps you or Mr. Cayce or Hugh Lynn could go into the matter more thoroughly, although it may be that she feels she knows all that is necessary. I feel that [2797] will have the proper spiritual and mental attitude for a reading and I’m more interested in her having one than any one I know because of the fact that she has been going to doctors for so many years.
I’m pleased to hear from my reservation of the book so promptly. Tom wrote me a short note a few days ago and said they expect to stay until October since he has improved so much down there.
I may be able to have a little time off in a few weeks but it is not very definite and if there was any possible chance, I’d love to be down when [2797] has her reading.
Don’t bother to answer this as I know how very busy you always are. Just wanted you to know of my interest in this particular reading.
It certainly was nice of Mr. Cayce to take the trouble to write me a note and I will appreciate it if you will tell him so.
With best wishes to all,
R3. 9/15/42 Miss [2582]‘s letter: “I understand Mrs. [2797] is beginning her treatments with Dr. Waters in D.C.”
