This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 25th day of September, 1942, in accordance with request made by the self - Mr. [2821], new Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc., recommended by a friend in Norfolk who had heard of Mr. Cayce”s work, also by a Mr. Taylor in Alabama several years ago, who did not then know of Mr. Cayce”s address.
[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno. [2821].]
Time of Reading 10:35 to 10:55 A. M. Eastern War Time. …, Virginia.
-
GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body, answering the questions, as I ask them:
-
EC: Yes, we have the body here, [2821].
-
As we find, there are conditions which prevent the better physical functioning of the body.
-
These have to do with the nerve system, and the effect that injuries have had upon the activities of the locomotion in this body.
-
Then, these are the conditions as we find them with this body, [2821] we are speaking of, present in this room:
-
The blood supply indicates an impoverishment, through the lymph flow of the body. Thus there is a minor deficiency in the red blood, or the character of the hormones in the blood supply, that are called upon by the nerve forces to supply that influence for activity in the system.
-
In the structural portions we find those hindrances to the nerve forces.
-
Along the cerebrospinal system there are those segments that, through their subluxation, prevent the proper flow of impulse to the body; an injury to the 3rd cervical that connects with the nerve forces in the lumbar; and then in or between the 3rd and 4th lumbar there is another subluxation that hinders the locomotion, or the supplying to the sciatic centers. There has not been sufficient subluxation to cut off all the supply, but combined with an infectious force in the system it causes - or did cause - a static condition in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th cervical, and a tautness in the 3rd and 4th lumbar, or the lumbar axis.
-
A strain to the pelvic center also indicates an unbalancing there. Thus we find there is a slight deflection in the balance in the pelvic center.
-
These, then, are the sources of the deflection of nerve supply, and their drain upon the blood forces of the body prevents the normalcy; though no organic disturbance exists, as we find, in brain, liver, lungs, heart, digestive forces or the kidneys. However, the general strain through the nerve forces causes all of those at times to be deflected, or slow in their response at times.
-
We find that with care, persistency, and the correct applications, we can eliminate - to the greater extent - these disturbances in the body.
-
However, there needs to be that period of preparation FOR the corrective forces to be made in this body-activity.
-
Hence we would apply each evening when ready to retire, - by self, or by an assistant, - a massage in the lumbar and sacral area, and in the cervical area, to at least the 3rd and 4th dorsal, - from the base of the brain to the 3rd and 4th dorsal, - with a combination of oils prepared in this manner:
-
To 3 ounces of Nujol, Usoline or the like, add - in the order named:
Pine Oil…1 ounce, Oil of Pine Needles…1/2 ounce, Oil of Sassafras Root…1/4 ounce, Witchhazel…2 ounces.
-
These, to be sure, will separate. Shake the solution well and pour a quantity into a saucer, dipping fingers into same, and massage all the body will absorb.
-
Do this each day for at least twenty-eight days, see?
-
Then have the osteopathic adjustment made. This will require at least six or eight treatments, before the adjustments in the cervical and in the dorsal can be made to maintain their proper position. Have these done by Irvin.
-
When there is the beginning of the osteopathic adjustments, begin also to use the low electrical application of the Wet Cell Appliance; this carrying Gold to the system.
-
The small copper plate would be attached to the 4th lumbar center, while the larger nickel plate, through which the Gold Solution passes vibratorially (in the proportions of one grain Chloride of Gold to each ounce of Distilled Water), would be attached to the lacteal and umbilical plexus - or, on this body, four fingers from the naval center to the right, and two fingers up from that point.
-
Make these attachments each day for thirty minutes, for twenty-eight days.
-
Then, leaving off the Wet Cell AND the osteopathic adjustments, we would use the rubs again.
-
By that time the body should be nearer to normal forces.
-
But we would then give further instructions.
-
Do those things, and we will bring near to normal forces for this body, [2821].
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) Any advice regarding the diet? (A) The body is a fairly good dietician, but keep away from too much fried foods. But have lettuce and celery and carrots (grated, or as a salad) some time during most every day. Eat plenty of liver, fish and fowl, and the regular vegetables. Keep away only from fried foods.
Do these things and we will make for better forces for this body.
And: Keep the proper attitude. Know within self that you must be not only good but good for something. Use the abilities to the glory of God and to the honor of self.
- We are through for the present.

(If you have trouble locating any of the ingredients for the rub, they might be obtained at Meredith Drug Co., 17th St., Va. Beach, as they have ordered a supply of crude drugs to fill many of the orders they get through the Readings. If you wish to get any from here, we suggest that you get in touch with Mr. Malcolm H. Allen, 206 Indian River Rd., Norfolk, who comes down to the Beach every Tuesday night to Mr. Cayce’s Bible Class. He would be glad to enquire at Meredith’s for you, as it is right across the street from the bus station.
See extra sheet of directions [which were enclosed] for the osteopathic treatments when you are ready for these - after the rubs have been given daily for twenty-eight days. Take this sheet to Dr. C. W. Irvin, Bankers Trust Bldg., Norfolk, Va.
See article [which was enclosed] explaining theory of the Wet Cell Appliance. This is not to be used until the osteopathic treatments are started, but we suggest that you get in touch right away with Mr. A. M. Godfrey, 2709 Lafayette Blvd., Norfolk, - Phone 35321, - who makes each Appliance according to specifications. However, he may have one on hand that he can fix to loan you, or else he may know someone who has finished one that may be secured for your use. If anything in the Reading is not clear, talk it over with Mr. Godfrey, as he has had considerable experience with Mr. Cayce’s Readings.
Best of luck, and let us know when you have used the Appliance and had the osteopathic treatments - the second period of twenty-eight days - so we may make an appointment for a Check Physical Reading to give further instructions. Such a Check Physical Reading will be without further cost to you. GD.)

Dear Mr. [2821] …, Virginia
Dear Mr. [2821]
The extraordinary power of Edgar Cayce to tap enormous stores of information for the guidance and enlightenment of the human family attracted attention throughout the country and, indeed, throughout the world. For 44 years he served his friends, neighbors, the afflicted and the distressed. In the last days of his life, he exhausted himself completely by giving as many as eight readings per day. Individuals who received the benefit of his powers were - in most cases - preoccupied with the advantage to themselves. Few, if any, caught a glimpse of the vision which is now disclosing itself.
Some of us have perceived that vision for many years. When my father passed away, we were beset by discouragement of every kind. Some recommended that the door be sealed on the life and work of Edgar Cayce; others refrained from discussing the matter. Others, motivated by an interest growing out of occupation, predisposition or turn of mind, suggested a fragmentary use of small bits of information contained in the 30,000 readings.
By patience and persistence we have found a way in which the readings can support a superstructure so enormous as to baffle the imagination of all of us. The intrinsic value of the information given in the readings is made more evident by the great numbers who are being attracted to what was said in the readings rather than to my father himself. More than half of those who are interested in this work have never had a reading and have no hope or intention of getting one.
After a thorough analysis by experts from Remington Rand, Eastman Kodak Company and International Business Machines Company, it becomes clear that the simplest, most economical and most advantageous step to be taken would be to MICROFILM each reading together with its preliminary correspondence and a report on the success. After the readings are prepared for this operation, an index can be created and thus every reading on subjects which bring enlightenment to all can be found with push button speed. Those interested in studying or using the information given in the readings could then procure reproductions of them at the rate of about $.05 per page. Copies of prints of the original microfilm could be placed in cities throughout the country and study groups can be formed at each point and the work of Edgar Cayce can begin its second phase; that is, acceptance and use on a wide scale.
Last fall a campaign was launched in the Norfolk-Virginia Beach area where 100 gifts for more than $8,000 were obtained. The willingness with which people gave prompted me to offer you the same opportunity. Even though we did not get around to calling on you personally, we did send you a copy of a booklet entitled “A Sequel to the Story of Edgar Cayce,” which we hope you found interesting. It explains more fully the purpose behind this project to preserve and disseminate the information which Edgar Cayce gave to the benefit of so many thousands of individuals. Although the readings are about to become available to you personally, I know that you will be motivated by a higher impulse; you will be helping others to help themselves.
The New York area is about to launch a campaign for its hare of the $90,000 project. Men and women not only prominent in New York but of national stature have committed themselves to the campaign not merely as contributors but as prime movers. The effort is destined for a sure success there. I know that you will want to take part in this great activity.
Please use the enclosed subscription card in making your contribution. The money raised will be spent on a weekly and monthly basis for wages, equipment, supplies, etc., and if you would like to take as long as 36 months to pay, please do so.
Cordially yours, [signed] Hugh Lynn Cayce
