This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 6th day of November, 1942, in accordance with request made by the self - Mr. [2844], new Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc., through his friend, Mr. [622].

1. GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body; answering the questions, as I ask them:

2. EC: Yes, we have the body here.

3. As we find, the disturbances are of such natures that not sufficient attention is being given same.

4. These are complications, and one portion of the body at times works against the other.

5. Then, these are conditions as we find them with this body, [2844].

6. First, structural portions of the body, - as the face and along the spine, - are in serious maladjustment.

7. With the efforts of a good orthopedic surgeon, we find there might be some help given as related to the condition in face or jaw. But this unbalancing in the face or jaw would necessarily come later, for the corrective forces osteopathically of the spine - and the reduction of the acidity - will put the body in better shape for operative measures; and these should NOT be performed until there is a much better condition in the blood stream.

8. For, those conditions in the spine are such that unless changes are brought about (and these we find might best be attended by an osteopath) they will gradually cause deterioration in soft portions of the bone. And these in the present are contributory causes to the activity in the body of so much acidity, or acid production in the digestive system.

9. This, of course, - the acidity, - is gradually destroying the activity of the linings of portions of the stomach, in the pyloric portions, and the duodenum in its assimilations of foods taken.

10. If there are the corrections gradually made, this will be materially aided with strappings put on by a good osteopathic surgeon.

11. Irvin or Ober we would give as the better for this particular service.

12. The diet we would not change a great deal, though we WOULD take a few drops of Elixir of Lactated pepsin in the Milk of Bismuth that is taken to absorb the poisons and acids, see? This will have a better effect upon the conditions through the lower portion of the stomach and the duodenum. This will have to be given almost daily, or sometimes - if the dose is divided - twice daily. The dose would be five drops of the Pepsin to the teaspoonful of the Milk of Bismuth.

13. No specific change would we make in the diet, though DO try the raw milk - this will act better. Just the milk, not anything in it - but the raw milk, not pasteurized; fresh from the cow when practical.

14. We would follow these suggestions for at least two to three weeks; then we may give further instructions, if there is the response to these applications.

15. Ready for questions.

R1. 11/21/42 Questions submitted:

1. Are eggs to be eaten by me; if so, give quantity and preparation; if not give substitute.
2. Give specific diet.
3. What can be done to overcome or alleviate extreme nervous condition?
4. Give number of osteopathic adjustments needed, and frequency?
5. Have the osteopathic treatments been correctly given? Please give further suggestions for Dr. Irvin.

R2. 11/24/42 Report by [622]: “He looks and feels like a different person. Dr. Irvin is giving him the treatments and told him to follow everything in the Rdg. to the letter; that he’d never yet seen a wrong diagnosis. Said his back is all out of kelter, just as the Rdg. described, but he thinks it can be corrected.

“[2844] says he’d like a specific diet; the doctors have left the diet more or less optional with him, and he’s eaten so many eggs he’s sick of them, and they seem to burn his stomach. He doesn’t really know what agrees with him and what doesn’t; everything seems to burn his stomach.”

B2. 11/5/42 Note by [622]: “[2844] can’t get away - he is in charge at the Naval Station - only person in the building at … He is in agony. According to tests has 90% hydrochloric acid in stomach. (Diet no salt, no fats for 3 months. Now condition has come back.)

“He wanted to wait until he was able to pay the full amount for Rdg. at once, but he is in such pain that he must do something right away. He has read the Ass’n booklet and will be holding the proper attitude the morning of Friday, the 6th. He hopes to be given something to relieve him so he can continue working, and he’ll come out to see you at the first opportunity; also send some money next pay day. The doctors have given him recently Milk of Magnesia and Bismuth, but his stomach is on fire. He certainly needs a Rdg. bad, and I’ll guarantee he’ll follow it.

“He’s also interested in the Life Readings. I’ve discussed mine with him several times, and he wants to get one as soon as he is on his feet physically.”
