This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 14th day of November, 1942, in accordance with request made by the self - [2850], through his mother, Mrs. [2880], new Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc., recommended by Mrs. [1472].

Born May 8, 1924, in Cleveland, Ohio. Time of Reading 10:40 to 11:30 A. M. Eastern War Time. New York City.

1. GC: You will give the relation of this entity and the universe, and the universal forces; giving the conditions which are as personalities, latent and exhibited in the present life; also the former appearances in the earth plane, giving time, place and the name, and that in each life which built or retarded the development for the entity; giving the abilities of the present entity, that to which it may attain, and how. You will answer the questions, as I ask them:

2. EC: Yes, we have the records - we are given here the records of that entity now known as [2850]. These are rather out of the ordinary.

3. The entity is a Uranian in mind, and an Atlantean and a Lemurian in purpose.

4. And the entity has had long periods between the material manifestations. Thus to many the entity appears to be the dreamer, to others very deep but impractical; to others, very much self-centered.

5. Then, to coordinate the abilities, the aims, the hopes, - in the attempt to adjust self to the changing influences, - will to the entity be rather the problem within self. And as to whether this experience becomes an unfoldment in such a manner as to be a helpful influence in the soul’s development, as we find, will depend upon what the entity chooses as its ideal.

6. Ideas, to be sure, are rampant - as in manner of expression - in the entity’s inner self. And the entity becomes at times very much upset at the way individuals and groups control the relationships that are borne between groups, sects, and such conditions.

7. The entity is an ideologist, in a manner, and given to stress occult forces in their deeper and broader sense in opposition to psychic forces; yet the entity receives the greater portion of its urge from psychic experiences.

8. Then, to coordinate same in a material world is that we would attempt to give this entity; that this information may be an experience for the entity, enabling it to better interpret the urges that arise in the mental self.

9. For, the body and its soul is hinged upon the mental. For, in material manifestation in a three-dimensional world, mind is the builder and represents that which is the experience of most entities, the Son, in the Godhead, or man’s concept of same.

10. Yet the entity has experiences in the fourth, the fifth, yea to the seventh dimensions. Thus again there may be confusions in the experience of the entity.

11. Astrological forces have little to do, in the common term of same, with the influencing of this entity. For the experience of the entity in soul dimension (or psychic), and the attempts oft of the entity to interpret same through the forces that may bring materialization in the occult, may confuse - unless there is the interpreting and the receiving of the spirit of Him who is the way, the truth, the light to man in this material world.

12. In the records we find that Mercury and Uranus have been and are such an influence (not as urges but as an influence) that extremes are to the entity the everyday, or the common parlance. Thus the greater need for realization that man may not live by bread alone, but by every word - as is the law of the universal consciousness. And to learn to wait on the Lord, and to dwell in the law of truth, will oft become galling to the entity.

13. As to the appearances, - these, as indicated, are far afield when judged by everyday material concepts. Yet time is all one time, and this to be broken into the material concept is oft confusing, in giving expression of same in words or phrases of a three-dimensional nature to the entity.

14. Before this the entity was in the Roman land, and the Holy Land. The entity then was a scientist, or an interpreter of the law of the Romans to a people so imbibed with a spiritual law, attempted to be materially applied, that it brought periods of disturbance to the entity.

15. Yet the abilities to judge peoples, to interpret the emotions of groups as related to their spiritual, social or religious environs, made for a period of unusual activities, - as the entity attempted to aid a people disturbed by a rule or order that embraced materiality as well as threads of might and power, yet not unmindful of spiritual values.

16. Hence the entity’s activities as an interpreter of group influence in the Holy Land brought the entity in touch with many of those who were leaders in the varied groups; the leaders in the Essenes, the interpreters in the Temple - or the high priests. And the knowledge of the manners in which other groups were used by these interpreters of the impelling forces in the groups brought disturbing forces, and finds expression in the present as to economic and social relationships that - are portions of man’s experience in varied groups and climes.

17. The name then was Margii. It may be said that the entity gained, the entity stumbled oft but gained - in comparison to some other experiences in the earth plane.

18. In the present from that experience there may be applied the knowledge or awareness of an influence in the material plane through the manner of life of the Nazarene. For the entity in that period was ALMOST but not quite persuaded, even as Felix - who was an uncle of the entity. For, what brought such save sacrifice? and this has ever, and innately in the present, has found soil for an unfoldment in the entity’s being - WHY sacrifice? IF man in his eternal seeking be of the Creative Force, WHY sacrifice? Yet it is that necessary to be interpreted in self; if in no other manner, in that necessary in self of the application of the law of cause and effect, of spiritual law in its interpreting through material manifestation, occult law as may be ONLY interpreted in the law of the soul - or the psychic power, or soul power, the ability given by the First Cause for reproducing its own kind; yet the altering of kind manifestedly by application to universal consciousness or self-indulgence.

19. Before that the entity was in the earth during that period when there were those interpretings of the law in relationships to material, spiritual and cosmic forces, in Egypt.

20. And the entity was of the land of Said, a student of the application of same under the influence of Ra-Ta, and those helpful forces about same as the applications were made.

21. Then in the name Futien, the entity made contributions - in a manner - to the application in the Temple Beautiful, or that which had to do with the mind’s unfoldment to the cosmic, to the spiritual laws, of those who were prepared or purified there for their service in the varied relationships of economic, social, commercial, material and scientific application in the varied groups.

22. The entity returned to its own land, to be confused by the wars which arose between the hills peoples and those who dwelt in the valleys.

23. This, as the entity finds, makes those innate and manifested urges to condemn circumstance in individual lives. This, again, is part of that law as from spiritual through cosmic, through all forces in its necessity of sacrificial application in material things.

24. Before that the entity was in the Atlantean land, during those periods of the early rise in that land of the sons of Belial as oppositions, that became more and more materialized as the powers were applied for self-aggrandizement.

25. The entity was among the children of the Law of One that succumbed to the wiles, - and it may be WELL interpreted in that answer recorded in Holy Writ, - “Ye shall not SURELY die, but it is pleasant for the moment, and for the satisfying of longings within.”

26. Thus did the entity begin to use spiritual forces for the satisfying of material appetites.

27. Thus, again, the needs for the interpreting in self of its ideal-spiritual, first; and know the author of same. And let that in the mental be held in abeyance to that spiritual ideal, as well as in the application of such in the material associations.

28. The name then was Mufuti.

29. Before that the entity was in the Lemurian land, as one interpreting the laws of gravity, the laws of electrical vibration as might be applied to the usefulness of material beings.

30. Then the name was Ooum.

31. As to the abilities of the entity in the present, - these are limitless, if that which is the power of Creative Forces is taken as the director, the partner in same.

32. In the fields of vibration, in the fields of vibration as related to economic conditions, as well as in the generating forces in growth of mineral, vegetable and animal kingdoms, the entity may - with application - find the outlets for self’s abilities; though keep thy head high, thy feet grounded in the faith in Him.

33. Ready for questions.

34. (Q) What should be my procedure to prepare myself for this work, and what course of study should I pursue? (A) As outlined, first find self and its ideals. Then, in whatever line or branch of that indicated is chosen, let HIM - the Christ - work with thee.

35. (Q) Do my present abilities equip me for work of a scientific nature? (A) Read what has been given.

36. (Q) Please give as detailed an account as possible of former incarnations in which I have known the following people; the type of association I had with each of them; the purpose of our present relationship; and instruct me as to how we may be of the greatest service to each other now: (A) (Interrupting) Details of these, of such, would be as an interpreting of that in self at some given period of activity.

The mother [1472], the father [2795], ALL were in that Palestine-Roman experience. As to the manner of associations, - interpreting their reactions and thine own urges, ye may find these in the greater detail thyself.

37. (Q) Rene […]? (A) He who persuaded thee in the Atlantean. Beware ye are not over-persuaded again!

38. (Q) Richard […]? (A) A helpful force in the Egyptian, as well as in the Roman or Palestine. A co-worker in Rome, and in the Egyptian a helper - working together.

39. (Q) Marion […]? (A) An acquaintance, and one to whom much is due.

40. (Q) What is the basis of my extreme sensitivity to the manner in which life is being conducted on the earth planet at present, and what should I do about it? (A) YE cannot do anything, save as has been and may be interpreted in Him - who Himself sacrificed all, that man may know. The reason - the influences in past experiences.

41. We are through for the present.

R1. 11/23/42 [2850]‘s letter:

Dear Mr. Cayce,

I just thought that I would take this opportunity to write and thank you for all that you have done for me. I have had the life reading a little more than a week now and I have read it over several times. I am still very young, and there are many points in the reading which I don’t altogether understand, and which I can only understand with a little assistance from someone who is familiar with the contents of such a document. Mrs. [1472] has agreed to aid me in this respect I am much indebted to her.

Although I have not worried about it, one of the things which I must at present consider is my possible entry into the armed forces. I have no objection to fighting whatsoever, for I firmly believe that the United Nations’ cause is just, and that I must at some time take part in subduing the evil forces. However, my present physical condition renders me a poor example of American soldierdom, and for that reason, I have attempted to “sign up” with some service which will enable me to serve my country best. Until my life reading, I was in doubt as to the best course to follow, but the spiritual assistance the reading has offered me is invaluable in this respect.

R2. 11/28/42 [2850]‘s letter:

Dear Mr. Cayce,

Thank you for your letter of the 25. Your son visited me here on Thanksgiving Day and I was very taken to him. He was extremely helpful to me in clearing up some of the points in the reading that I was not able to understand. I am very young, and there were, I confess, many things in the reading that I could not have found comprehensible without some assistance. For a person who once regarded your amazing powers with skepticism, Hugh Lynn seems to possess remarkable ability to interpret such powers. My ignorance of ancient history leaves me at a disadvantage not infrequently and Hugh Lynn was extremely helpful in explaining these references.

Thank you once more for the spiritual guidance that you have afforded me,

R3. 12/5/42 Mother [2880]‘s letter:

New York, N.Y.

Dear Mr. Cayce,

Ever since the reading came for my boy, it has been my intention to tell you all that was in my heart about it. I also wanted to tell you the profound impression it made upon me, as well as upon [2850] (we always refer to him as [2850]), who, although he has an unusual awareness of these things, is, naturally, because of his immaturity, unable - yet - to put all that is going on in his consciousness into any formulated phrases.

It is quite the most wonderful thing to me that one so endowed as yourself, lives on the earth plane at this time, when it is our great privilege to have this reading, and to know too, that wonderful woman [1472] through whose close friendship we were able to know you, and to have the reading.

I cannot imagine anything that would be calculated to help [2850] in all this world, as that reading, and this, more and more, as time passes, and the deeper significance of it comes with the frequent study of its message and its warning. The boy has always been strangely understanding of things that were not really expected of him, and which have surprised me on more than one occasion, such as his understanding of ‘death’, and his almost thoughtful sadness at times, as though the thought of being here made unhappy, and still, he said, not once, but many times, that he “was not afraid to die - for he understood just what death was - but he could not understand why anyone would want to clutch to life, since there was so little that was really spiritual in those he met round him.” This comment he made when he was not quite eleven.

Perhaps you can understand then, why this reading means so much to him - to me, Mr. Cayce for there are so many things I feel he understands and that he is rather lonely here, in the earth plane in his present experience, because he DOES understand things that ARE NOT YET HERE made manifest in the minds of men. So, for this reading, I am much more grateful than I have ever been in any other connection where he is concerned.

In addition to this, your son Hugh Lynn, was simply wonderful in the clearing of the boy’s thought with regard to the meaning of the reading, and the opportunity to meet him, and to have this revealing interpretation was a never to be forgotten incident. His tender understanding of the youth of the lad, and his gentle way of telling him what he must be aware of, indeed the entire purpose of his visit, was a rare opportunity for [2850] and [2850] found him such a fine man, and liked and appreciated his patience and help immeasurably.

After the reading came, and the visit of Hugh Lynn, I became more and more aware of the significance of relationships, and how natural it seemed that [1472], [2850] and I should find ourselves all at once ‘together,’ and it seemed so right too. [1472] is truly a wonderful friend, and I have never ceased to feel a great sense of gratitude to her, that she was the means of our learning of you!

So now, I will close my letter with the thought of all the blessings which I know must come to you, of the rich reward that is surely yours in the service that you are rendering to those seeking help, and I wish you a joyous and Happy Christmas, and I send you my love and gratitude for the service you have rendered to my boy.

R6. GD’s note: Subsequent letters from his mother during 1943 indicated a very unhappy experience of [2850] in the Armed Services - he was sick and unhappy generally, feeling that he was given no consideration and was actually being mistreated by his superiors.
