This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 27th day of November, 1942, in accordance with request made by the self - [2859] new Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc., recommended by her daughter - or request coming through her daughter - Mrs. [2800].

Time of Reading 10:55 to 11:15 A. M. Eastern War Time. Washington, D.C.

1. GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body; answering the questions, as I ask them:

2. EC: Yes, we have the body here, [2859].

3. As we find, there is rather a complication of disturbances with this body. These in their incipiency, or in their beginnings, had to do with those glandular disturbances in the body. In the applications administered for helpful forces here, we broke those full coordinations between the revitalizing forces of the body AND the general physical organisms.

4. Thus oft we find that the organs themselves are as dead, in their ability to replenish their OWN vital forces, or they are near to a complete rundown condition.

5. We thus have this complication of disturbances:

6. A heart disturbance, though not an organic heart condition.

7. A liver disturbance, though not an organic liver condition.

8. Bad conditions in the breathing, with any overexercise or even attitudes; or mental reactions cause heavy or short breathing at times.

9. The kidneys are at times overactive, at times sparse in their activity and yet frequent needs for attending to same.

10. All of these indicate this variation in the vital forces of the body-energies in themselves.

11. These conditions, naturally, have brought about enlargement tendencies, then, in areas along the cerebrospinal system from or through which there is the coordination between the cerebrospinal and the sympathetic nervous systems.

12. Then, these produce those disturbances that become irregular through the body; though at times - for partial days or periods through the day - the body feels fairly well, and then either a heart, lung or liver or kidney disturbance puts the body in those positions where there is the contraction indicated when the body attempts even to rest.

13. These are the conditions as we find with this body. Thus the combinations.

14. As we find, we would administer the gentle osteopathic treatments all along the spine, - almost daily for the first few days, if practical. These will bring rest and betterment to the body.

15. We would have such as Dr. Waters to administer these special relaxing treatments; not stimulating treatments, not too deep for this body, else we may overquicken the pulse, but the gentle relaxing treatments.

16. As soon as practical we would begin with the use of the Radio-Active appliance for this body, keeping the attachment plates very clean, and do not allow the ice or the water to get over the top of the Appliance when in use. Use this as a means to relax the body, though it may be used only when ready to rest for an hour or hour and a half. Or if the body desires to rest or relax during the day, put it on for a few minutes.

17. When these treatments are begun, we find that the body will soon respond. Then there will come a period as of relapse; but do not be discouraged.

18. Do take care, through the period, that there is not overeating nor too much exercise.

19. After there has been at least a week’s treatment, we would begin with the addition of the vital forces or energies in the B-Complex. For this vitamin, or the combinations for this particular body, use the Abbott’s B-Complex pills or pellets.

20. Do these things for at least thirty days; then we would give further instructions.

21. Ready for questions.

22. (Q) Should the hydrochloric acid be continued? (A) For the time being, but we will find that the body will gradually be able to diminish this. Do no overdiminish it until the next information may be given through this channel.

Do these things, and we will bring better forces for this body, [2859].

R1. 12/21/42 Letter from daughter: “Both my father and I appreciated very much your effort in behalf of my mother to whom you gave the reading two weeks ago. I’m sure that the suggestions would be of benefit to her if she would follow them but she is rather a wilful person and so far we have had little success in persuading her. She felt that the Appliance was too much trouble to use each day and neither would she go to Dr. Waters after the first treatment so we are helpless at the moment… As you asked to hear how my mother got along under the treatment I felt that I should tell you quite honestly the difficulties that we are having in persuading her to follow it. It seems impossible for her to believe that she is ill enough to make the exertion that it would mean. It is unfortunate that she is losing this time but perhaps we can prevail upon her to do something about it later…”

R2. Extract [Case [2800]] from daughter now calling herself Mrs. [2800] on 4/25/49:

“As my mother [2859] has passed on I want to let you know to remove her name from your files. As I shall be ordering some of your literature, you might put my name on your mailing list in place of hers, as I am the one who ordered the readings for her and others of my family back through the years before EC’s death.”

B1. 11/16/42 Letter from daughter [2800]: “I am writing to ask if you could give a physical reading to my mother within the next weeks? She has been ill for years with symptoms that doctors seem to be helpless to aid. She would like to have you do it and I shall send the questions later…”

B2. 11/22/42 Letter from daughter [2800]: “As it is difficult for my mother to write I have filled out the application for her… The following are her symptoms and we would like to ask what suggestions you might get for the treatment of them or for help in any way. Nervousness and tension. Attacks of aphasia during the day which she cannot speak for a few moments. Fainting without warning for several years, though not often, and we have been unable to discover the reason. Attacks in her sleep of spasmodic contraction of the limbs and rigidity of the body which have resulted in serious impairment of memory. What doctors have called false angina pectoris (a racing heart accompanied by great pain in the heart and also in the throat. Her heart itself has been said to be good but in evidently effected by the results of indigestion and emotional disturbance. Examinations have shown her stomach to lack hydrocloric acid so that she has had to take hydrocloric acid and caroid for years to prevent indigestion. The attacks of false angina have been accompained by gas on her stomach which she is unable to regurgitate. Along with these symptoms of body she has experienced great depression and melancholy…”
