This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 115 West 35th Street, Virginia Beach, Va., this 19th day of June, 1926, in accordance with request made by self - Mr. [2889] via Mr. [257].

1. GC: You will give the relation of this entity and the Universe, and the Universal Forces, giving the conditions that are as personalities, latent and exhibited, in the present life; also the former appearances in the earth’s plane, giving time, place, and the name, and that in that life which built or retarded the development for the entity, giving the abilities of the present entity and to that which it may attain, and how.

2. EC: Yes, we have the entity here, and those relations with the Universe and Universal Forces, as are latent and as are manifested through their exhibition in the present earth’s plane.

3. In taking the position in the present earth’s plane, we find the entity coming under the influence of Mercury, Venus, Uranus, Jupiter, adverse influence in Moon and Mars, with the varying effects of the Saturn’s influence with Venus and of Mars. Hence we have one who is often called eccentric and peculiar, making, though, very strong friendships, and an exceptionally good business man, from the financial standpoint and from the material view, yet one that should be warned as respecting the use of monies in the present earth’s experience.

4. One of high mind, and one that would do well to remember that injunction - “The high look, the proud heart, but the ploughing of the wicked is sin.”

5. One that brings much good to many in the respect of those influences, especially, towards educational factors.

6. One that is often considered one of ability in political and in economic influences.

7. One that is either in the lead or considered the laggard in group association. Hence one that would be well as an organizer of group or of cooperative association in anything that had to do with the selling of products, especially those of metal, and the combinations with same.

8. One with the ability to gain influence with men in affairs. One that would do well to guard that influence gained.

9. One that finds that the greatest possibilities in the present earth’s experience will come in the present year, especially about the birth date in the present year, for at that period the influences in Uranus, Jupiter and of Mercury, as respecting the individual, will be in the rule, as it were, through influences as experienced by entities in the sojourn of each planetary influence. Hence the coming to the entity of those conditions are of an influence in the entity’s development through the earth’s sphere, and, without will’s force being directed in the improper way and manner to hinder such, this will bring about the combination and the culmination of influences that will give greater blessings to the entity, in social, in financial, and in the possibilities of the entity to be called blessed by others whom the entity may assist through these influences.

In the appearances are seen much of the urges as are seen in the present sphere, while many have been made applicable in the present experience, especially in the thirty-fourth and thirty-fifth years of the entity’s present sojourn, for during that period the entity made some decided stands mentally that has been for the good of the entity in this plane, though there were times that this stand seemed or appeared to be in that way of causing much trouble, yet the stand taken has been the greatest factor in the present plane’s development, for there became associated, during that period, those with the entity who, without speech, have directed often the influence in this entity’s present sojourn.

We find the one before this, the entity among those who came as the first settlers to that country about (now known as) Providence, R.I., and the entity then in the name Vaile, and the entity gained through the latter portion of the earth’s sojourn, for the entity became a leader in the religious life of those about same. In the present plane we find the urge as of one that remains true to personal conviction, yet is often misunderstood as to the stand taken, for the application of religious rite and writ is to the entity as a secondary condition. This principally a development in the present earth’s plane.

13. In the one before this we find in the land of that peoples wherein the first rule by law of numbers was put in practical use. The entity then in the guard to the king who gave that as a rule, or trial by jury. The entity then gained and lost, through the self-aggrandizement of position in that plane, and the urge as is seen is - one not understood often by the people about the entity in the present experience, for the entity feels often that power above the right and right above power - conflicting in its influence, hence contradictory in the eyes of observers.

14. In the one before this we find in that period of the return to the Holy City. The entity among those that led in that return. In the name then Isbahel, and was a builder in the woodwork of the restoration of the temple. The entity gained in this period of experience throughout, and is one among the greatest influences in the present earth’s experience, for this gives the greater influence in this period. The urge as is seen from this - one interested in the building of those materials having to do with wood carving, and posts, and temple interior decorations, being special in the entity’s mind of development.

15. In the one before this we find in the period of the highest civilization in the land of that peoples that brought destruction to themselves. Then in Atlantis, when the rule brought this destruction. The entity among those in high command, and in the name Ishmel, and the entity lost in that period. In the present the urge is for that dread of the influence of power in the hands of the unworthy.

16. As to the abilities in the present, as is seen, the natural leader in groups, or in those that bring combination in the workings of material construction, yet must be in power to succeed, and the greatest influences will come in the present year for the entity to gain such position. Remembering, then, those injunctions, and that the real self is builded in service. Serve!

To procure best results this and succeeding years, what is your advice? Shall I remain with present company or seek new connections? Your full and detailed advice by collect wire would be really appreciated. I am at … Hotel here. Upon my return to … will mail you a substantial check…”

R2. 7/2/26 EC’s wire to [2889]:

”…Rather hard to explain this by wire. I gather you have been offered two propositions. You should make the change that promises to put you in charge of some department of the work. It seems there is a secondary position before the final one in November. This one, I feel sure, you will get. Wish I could talk this over with you in person…”

R3. 7/29/26 EC’s letter to Mr. [257]:

”…What became of [2889]? I haven’t heard another word from him. Did you see him while in Chicago? You know I kind of lose patience with a fellow that will promise you everything until he gets what he wants and then doesn’t do anything. No matter if it isn’t what he expected to get, it isn’t right, and I haven’t much patience with a fellow of that kind…”

R4. 8/2/26 [257]‘s letter to EC:

”…Re [2889]: I’ve not written him recently, but I will call his attention to the fact he has not written you…”

R6. 10/13/26 [2889]‘s letter to EC:

”…Upon my return to … after an extended business trip and in going through various matters not yet having had my attention, I find your communication and Reading of June 19th.

“First of all, accept my apologies for the seeming negligence in the premises and it is to be hoped you will not conclude me entirely void of any reciprocal kindness.

“Candidly it is my desire for you to give me another psychic business reading at the earliest possible moment and I would like to have said Reading cover your advices with reference to my present business situation. In other words, give me, if possible detailed statements as you see them as to the best course I may pursue from all standpoints. After you have given the reading and mailed it to me at … Street, …, Indiana, special delivery, you may at once make draft on [2889] through the First National Bank of this city for $25.00 which amount [257] advises will meet with your entire approval…”

R7. 10/16/26 EC’s letter to [2889]:

”…I am in receipt of yours of the 13th. Naturally, from your conversation over the phone, and the wires that I had received, as well as what Mr. [257] had told me, I wondered why I hadn’t heard from you. I am sure, however, that since you have read the Reading as was given, and have thought over the conclusions you asked me to make from same, you surely see how they were arrived at through the ordinary trend of the mind.

“We desire, Mr. [2889], to be of service and help whenever possible. However, we do not feel that our forte lies in being a business adjuster - but we shall be very glad to try to be of help in this case, if you so desire - but we will not be able to get to this before the morning of the 23rd of October, between the hours of 10:00 and 12:00, Central Standard Time. I do not know whether or not I get enough from the questions you ask in yours of the 13th to be able to give you the information you desire. Possibly, questions on information already given would give you more, supplemented by conditions of the moment. Read this over again and see if you do not think this correct. Possibly you will have to wire me your address for that day and time, also where you would want the information sent after it was gotten - or, if you think you have the time, you may prepare questions to supplement Reading as suggested.

“Now, as for remuneration, Mr. [2889], we do not ‘draw’ on anyone. If you desire to contribute, do so according to the dictates of your own conscience. We are only able, as you already know, to give two of these Readings in one day. The strain on my nervous system doesn’t allow me to give more. The work depends upon the contributions from those we try to assist. We ask them to be just as fair with us as they desire us to be with them. You may send whatever you desire to contribute, with your questions…”

R8. 10/19/26 [2889]‘s letter to EC:

”…This is in direct reply to yours of the sixteenth. …In this Reading kindly advise me concerning the following: Whether or not I should keep on in my present capacity or make a change. If so, what? What about financial matters? If a change is desired, what sort? In other words, Mr.

Cayce, please give me a thorough Reading covering the situation with reference to my business and ability as completely as is possible. Immediately upon my return to … a check for the amount named in my letter of the thirteenth, which I understand is satisfactory, will be forwarded to you…”

R9. 10/23/26 Gladys Davis’ letter to [2889]:

”…On account of the serious illness of his mother, Mr. Cayce left for Kentucky last Thursday, so we were unable to get the Reading for you this morning. He will write you when he returns, however, and make another appointment.

“Regretting the delay, but hoping we may yet get the Reading for you…”

R10. 11/16/26 [257]‘s letter to EC:

”…Attached hereto is my check for $25.00. It was given me by Col. [2889] to be mailed to you during the past week. If it is at all possible, I wish you would give him a Reading as he is quite a booster for you these days and he is a very convincing talker…”

R11. 11/23/26 EC’s letter to [257]:

”…I want to thank you, [257], for the check from Mr. [2889]. We haven’t taken the Reading, for the simple reason we haven’t known just where we would find him. We made an appointment for him, sent him our regular appointment card, and just to be matter of fact - if he can’t do it our way, we can’t do it AT ALL! I don’t like his attitude. But we shall be very glad to be of help if possible, if he’ll come down and be just as reasonable as you infer that he expects us to be…”
