GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time. You will diagnose the case thoroughly, giving the cause of the existing conditions, also the treatment for the cure and relief of this body.
-
EC: Now, we find this body very good in many respects, throughout the physical body; yet there are those conditions of which the body would be warned, for the better condition in the physical way, that the physical may function the more normal in this body.
-
Now, these are conditions as we find them in this body, [2903], we are speaking of. First:
-
IN THE BLOOD SUPPLY, this we find very good at the present time, though there are conditions that at times produce a higher than normal blood pressure. This is not of an organic nature in organs; rather of the nerve system, as we shall see, produced by the inability of the system at times to bring the normal eliminations in the system, especially through the emunctories of liver and kidneys, which organs show the distresses when the pressure is produced, or when toxins are left in the system that bring congestion to various portions of the system under stress at the time. In the lower portion of the body we find the circulation slow, and the exterior portions, or the vein circulation, gives too slow a return to trunk portion of the body. Hence this swelling, or the vein showing the plethora effect at times giving a great deal of trouble, especially when toxins are allowed to form in system, by the poor eliminations produced in the emunctories, through disturbances in the nerve system, affecting organic functioning. See?
-
IN THE NERVE SYSTEM, in this we find the greater cause of the trouble that has been produced at times, or IS produced at times in the body. While the exercises, the action of the system, has kept off, DOES keep off, much of these conditions, there are those lesions in the 8th and 9th dorsal, in the 3rd and 4th lumbar, that give to the functioning system those incentives that cause disturbance, when any equilibrium is disturbed by congestion, or by overloading of the stomach - indigestion, or by any condition that affects directly the nerve sensory system. Hence, as there will be seen, at times that depression, or overexcitement, would produce indigestion, or over activities of the kidneys, or LACK of activity in the liver, as much as cold or other conditions, see?
-
IN THE FUNCTIONING OF THE ORGANS, brain forces very good.
-
Organs of the sensory system extra good, through the ability of the will’s forces to be applied in the system. Hence these conditions as have been given, with the activity over the functioning of the organs through the sensory or the sympathetic system.
-
Throat very good, though there are times that reflexes to the upper portion of the circulation gives the tendency for a rising, or a clearing of throat, which gives distress in a manner to the body at times. Not an affectation; not an organic condition - a nerve reflection, through the secondary cardiac and to the 6th and 7th cervical. Irritation produced in throat and bronchials.
-
Lungs very good.
-
Heart’s action - this, as we see, not an organic condition, but produced by this condition of nerve center and of the reaction, or retractory action in the system.
-
Digestion very good at present, though there have been those conditions in spleen and liver that has brought distresses, and these show the effects of same, though are very good at present. These were produced by the condition existent in the dorsal and lumbar region - THAT condition produced many years ago when the body fell - steps.
-
Through the mesenteric system - this diet that the body has adhered to from time to time, this activity of the body in its exercise, has assisted greatly these conditions; yet, were these corrections made through the osteopathic or chiropractic adjustments, that would relieve or release this pressure (while we will have some retraction when this is done, unless the exercises are kept normal for the body), we will find that the general physical condition of this body would be rebuilded.
-
The taxation as is seen in the kidneys at times, a retraction, and this pressure produced through this lesion, this overflow of blood to extremities. Hence the condition that comes to lower limbs, feet, and especially along the veins.
-
To relieve, then, these conditions for this body, and to give the normal forces, we would, through osteopathic manipulation and adjustment, correct those conditions as are seen in the dorsal and lumbar region, and then ALIGN the rest of cerebrospinal system with those corrections. Do that. We will find that thirteen to fifteen such treatments should BRING the normal conditions for body. This does not take the place of the care, the attention, that has been given to the body through the diet or exercise, or through those adjustments for the various conditions as arise in system, but this makes the CORRECTION, that these, as they are applied, may be more effective; for with this correction in the lumbar we will find this pressure relieved in lower limbs, especially.
-
We are through for the present.

Reports & Follow-up
R1. Mr. [2903]‘s ltr. to EC:
Dear Edgar -
Just a note while I am digesting my noon day lunch and to say I cannot yet tell you anything in the [4978] case. He promised me some days ago to turn the matter over to Dr. Ottarson [Dr. Ottarson, M.D.], his physician and as I had not heard from him I had the girl to phone him this am inviting him to the lunch with me but he told her he would not make it tomorrow so I think he is playing for time. He largely believes in you and wants to try it out but does not want to go against his doctor and I think is working on him also his wife. I told him to have his doctor talk to Dr. Cayce [E. B. Cayce, M.D.] or to me so I hope we will finally get this to working soon.
I wrote to the parties you gave me the names of and promptly heard from all except the Daytona, Fla. person and guess he is too busy with the Florida boom - I did not talk up with Dr. Cayce - All gave favorably replies so I showed them to Mr. […] [husband of [4978]] and told him to call on Dr. Cayce. Where I do not blame them from being somewhat skeptical yet if they will give me a chance I will make them a stump speech and believe I can bring the proper pressure to bear that will get a trial and results.
I received your reading on me and it was interesting and seemed to match up pretty well especially as regards the varicose vein trouble I have in my ankles in fact I think it a good diagnosis and as soon as some matters work out I am working on I am going to follow them out as you suggest.
You spoke of the heart’s action - Did your stenographer leave out something. It appears there was however I have not had any trouble with that organ particularly.
You spoke of adverse conditions brought about many years ago when I fell - STEPS. I infer from this that I must have fallen on or from steps - I do not recall such and wish it was possible to determine or locate such.
As I do not know what the meaning of some of your terms are I am going to try [to] look them up today or tomorrow and see just what I look like inside and I will then be in better position to know my self. On the whole I think your reading quite correct and I believe will be worth while to me as soon as I can get the time & place to give it a thorough tryout. I am getting some data of cases I think will but you and in the proper way at the proper times when the best effects will be had am going to put them in touch with you that I may not only be of assistance to you but especially to them for like yourself I think the greatest service we can render is to our fellow man. That I have always wanted to do.
As I must go up town I will close with love to all and best wishes
Yours [2903]
R2. 5/5/26 Mrs. [4843] obtained a Physical Rdg. via his recommendation.
R3. 8/5/33 Mr. [2903] requested the first of a series of Physical Readings on his daughter, Miss [386].
R4. 2/43 Mr. [2903] had his eyes operated on for cataracts, first one, then the other.
R5. 2/10/43 [2921]‘s letter: “Guess you know [2903] has to have his eyes operated on next Friday in Nashville. They are going to operate on one at a time.”
R6. 6/26/43 Letter, and previous interim correspondence not related to his health, see under 2903-1 Reports.
R7. GD’s note: We heard that Mr. [2903] died in the fall of 1944 of cirrhosis of the liver. He was nursed at the last by his sister, Mrs. [760].
