This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 115 West 35th Street, Virginia Beach, Va., this 14th day of September, 1929, in accordance with request made by self, through Mr. [417].

1. EC: Yes, we have the entity here, [2917], and those associations and relations of the entity with the universal forces, as are latent and exhibited in the present experience. (Hard enough to give his destinies before you give the rest, isn’t it?)

2. In entering, we find the entity coming under the influence of those forces in Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, and of Neptune. These all play an important part in the present experience of THIS entity, [2917], as now known.

3. In the relationships, we find many of these would run - as would be in some vernacular - true to color - (Well, that’s the way HE would talk of it, you see) for all of these have their influence, yet these conditions may be altered or changed by the application of the will of the entity; for while there have been many developments, many changes, many different circumstances under which the entity has labored, many developments in VARIED directions - yet much is to be gained by the entity, in knowing, understanding, or having a workable knowledge of what the experience of life is all about, whether in the material plane, or through the cosmic or ethereal influences - for all of these have their bearing, their purpose and purport, in the experience of this entity.

4. Through the influences, then, of the Mercurian influence - we find one of fine mind, one mentally well balanced - as to whether this is used in strategic influences, or playing a game of marbles, or shooting duck-pins.

5. One, with the influences in Jupiter, high minded - yet not with too haughty an air, yet one not wholly designing in power in self, or of fame or of fortune - yet these have their place in the entity’s experience, and should be made - in the applications of self and self’s abilities - rather as things or conditions to be sought, or as a MEANS, rather than an end; and let these elements (for they are sure to come, both fame and fortune) be a RESULT of a life and experience, and service, well rendered - rather than using OTHERS as stepping stones TO same.

6. In Venus we find the great love - while in Neptune travel is imminent, yet a home loving body in present experience, and one that enjoys the beauties and the love of the fireside and its surroundings. Not that there is not an appeal to the entity through the love of position or of power, or of fame - for companions of many stations, and the entity could accommodate self, whether it be of high or low estate, whether it be the vendor in the street, or the merchant in the market place - whether it be the officer on the road or the governor-general in his office, the entity can ACCOMMODATE self to these surroundings. Then, abuse not the ability - for the more ability, the more talent, the more required in the use of same.

7. In the influences in Neptune, water ever is an important factor. The body will - and the body has covered large expanses of water. Many lands will be seen and known by the entity in the present experience, and has been in the past. NO place is strange, or surroundings peculiar, to the entity. Not that the experiences have been so builded as to make them commonplace, for the entity appreciates - and to be able to APPRECIATE is an ACCOMPLISHMENT to ANY man.

8. In the abilities, or the innate influences that act as personalities - from these influences as have been seen, and as do appear - we find:

9. One that will find friends in every land. One able, capable, of keeping friends. Do not abuse that ability. Rather let it, the ability, be used as s servant and a service TO those whom the entity contacts, for the entity knows full well that, to self, a handclasp or a smile often changes the whole trend of a day, a week, a year - yea, a life.

10. Then, in the goings in and the coming outs, let thy watchword be - “Service to my fellowman, that those that I contact may use my steps as a ladder to assist THEM, and I not using THEM as stepping stones.”

11. In the ability of the good story-teller, let THIS also be a watchword - that each and every contact in such may leave that impression of a good deed, a good turn, is better than the USING of same in furthering personal interests to the detriment of others.

12. The entity will find THIS always an opening maker, as it were, in many climes: One that is by nature, or natural intent, a student of human nature - and human nature in all climes is much alike, for all of one descent, in that the Forces as manifest are making of those called to be able to stand in His presence.

13. One that will find the exchange, and the barter of goods, the life’s work - until the middle or latter portion of same, when - through those efforts - will the body but apply those very things as given in the life - through Singapore and through Bombay - may the entity gain influences to such an extent that it may make demands - DEMANDS - not as one that is as unruly ruler, but as one who would serve - such demands as to bring power in position, power in moneys, power in lands, power in offices, power among men. Then, APPLYING self aright, these may be brought as the recompense for those deeds done in the body, and as the talents used, in the name of the Creator.

14. In appearances and their influence, we find:

15. In the one before this the entity among those who first came to the land that the entity now calls home, and among the settlers in the island the entity now calls “my land”. The entity bartered with the peoples of the land, and set up AMONG the first places for sale of coats, skins, and exchanges for the various needs of the peoples in the land; becoming the first among the exporters of those pelts brought in, in that period. In the name Berne. In this experience the entity gained and lost, and gained. In the service gained. In the usurping of power lost. In abilities to give understanding gained. In condemnation lost. In the present experience the entity finds that love of travel, that love of changing scene, that love of exchange of the coins of many realms.

16. In the one before this we find in that land now known as Persia. The entity then among those who assisted in the return of those goods taken to the Holy City, and among the peoples who - under the leader - led, guided, directed, the return. Of the tribe of Judah, and in the name Nebro. The entity gained through this experience, being an aide to the ruler, or governor, as afterwards made. Gaining in the service to the fellow man. Losing only in usurption of authority in the return from the second trip to the land. In the present the entity finds an awe in those elements of spiritual leadership, an awe and an understanding in the law, and a seeming reverence of UNUSUAL nature for the laws of PEOPLES in various circumstance, various places - but abhorring that as would enslave one’s endeavors.

17. In the one before this we find in the land known as Egypt, when there were the divisions, and the peoples were going and called hither and thither, with the uprisings and the banishments and the changes as happened during that period. The entity among those who brought from other lands those of the materials for the weaving of the hangings for the temple and for the household of the kings; joining in the exile with the Priest, and MAKING for self a name in the return, bringing from the land much of that that was afterwards used in the temple redecoration. In the name Ibdo. In the present experience, the experience finds for the entity much of the love of mystery, especially as relating to the rites - and the entity knows much ritual that may be used in many lands. The entity in this respect would be well to lead any secret order.

18. In the one before this we find in the period when the nations of the earth gathered for the way of destruction to the animals that overran the land, and the entity among those of the council, and in the household where the council held. Not the main leader, but the leader’s next man, and COUNSELLING much in that period. In the name Boob. In this experience the entity gained, and the knowledge as innately makes for the understanding of peoples of many races, and tribes, and tongues, is INNATELY seen from this experience.

19. In the abilities of the entity - as seen, these are many, and lie most in the direction of the barter and sale, or the businessman - but may be turned into political power, fame or fortune, in the lands across the sea - but used THROUGH the OWN home land. The warnings, rather, that usurption of authority of power begets those destructive elements hard to overcome. Gain - yea, gain - but rather through service given, that in meeting self - in whatever land - let the words and the meditations of thine heart be in keeping with that tenet as is often said by the entity, “Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in thy sight, my Lord, my Redeemer.” Ready for questions.

20. (Q) Is it advisable to make my contemplated business trip at this time? (A) Advisable.

21. (Q) Are my basic business policies likely to assist or hinder me in attaining my goal? (A) Assist. Let those as have been given as warnings be made a portion of those policies.

22. (Q) Which of my stocks do you advise me to sell? (A) Stocks? We have no stocks here.

24. Much may be said about this entity, and that in store for the entity, will it apply that as has been given. Take the warnings and take the blessings - for, blessed is he who seeks the Lord while He may YET be found, and whom the Lord loveth He chasteneth; yet He will not allow His to be tempted beyond that which they are ABLE to bear. Keep thy hand in His hand, thy counsel one with Him - thy days may be long in the land thy Lord has given thee, and many will call thee blessed. We are through.

”…Question #1, regarding Messrs. H. B. Sodhani & Co., 14 Clive Street, Calcutta, India. A:Are they morally and financially responsible and capable of handling their present volume of business with North America or even a larger volume should it develop? B:Do you advise the continuance of business relations with this company and are they likely to eventually be a substantial and responsible connection? C:If you advise against continuing relationship with this company, please state your reasons. D:Would it be possible to have them establish a bond to guarantee performance of their contracts and how should they be approached for this purpose?

“Question #2, regarding Messrs. Mahaliram Ramjeedass, 21 Roopchand Ray’s Street, Calcutta, India. A:Is it likely that they will be able to coordinate their facilities so as to be a suitable connection for my purpose, in their business with the North American market or do you advise my discontinuing relationship with them? B:If you advise against doing business with them, please state your reasons.

“Question #3, regarding Messrs. Raghunath Das Sewlall, Strand Buildings, Strand Gate, 62 Clive Street, Calcutta, India. A:Do you advise renewing business relationship with this company? B:Sewlall owes my company a sum, the amount of which is in dispute. Please give me the exact amount that they owe us, so that I will not claim more than is rightfully due my company. C:Is it likely that the resumption of business with Sewlall would prove profitable or do you advise forgetting them entirely? D:If the latter, why?

“Question #4. A:Are there any advantages to be gained by continuing my relationship with Mr. Diniar R. Mody, 11 Wellington Square, Calcutta, India? B:Would it be workable to establish a company in Calcutta with Mr. Mody at its head or to connect with Mr. Mody with some company already established, for the purpose of trade relationship with them?

“Question #5. Can you advise the name of any companies in Calcutta with whom I might enjoy a pleasant business relationship by making connections with them?

“Question #6. What is the average cost of production, based on jute at L33.0.0 Sterling per ton of 2240 lbs., working time 60 hours per week, all other conditions and costs as at present?

“Question #7. For how long is it reasonable to expect the continuance of average premiums on spot goods over forward goods or vice versa, how long is it reasonable to expect the continuance of backwardation of prices for forward positions? “Question #8. Do you advise additional capital in my present company or do you believe that the present financial structure of my company is sufficient to care for the continuance of operations on the same scale as at present or should these operations be reduced?

“Question #9. For how long will Continental Europe be in a position to continue their export business with North America, considering relative costs of production against India?

“Question #10. How do you believe that the average prices for the commodity in which I am dealing will be for the next two years as compared with the last two years?

How much higher or lower in percentage?

“Question #11. A:What is the way to properly and centrally organize the burlap industry, so that their shortcomings and errors can be corrected? B:What are its chief faults? C:What man in the burlap industry is qualified and available to head a central organization, embracing all divisions of the industry? D:How should he be approached?”

R2. 9/21/29 GD’s letter to Mr. [2917]:

”…Your questions for a Business reading were submitted to us by Mr. [417]. Owing to the great number of requests for Physical readings, it is almost impossible for us to get a chance to give readings of this nature, as Mr. Cayce is only able to give two in one day.

“You will see from the enclosed appointment slip the date we have set for this. It will be necessary for us to know just where you will be during those hours. If this date will be satisfactory, please return the appointment slip, properly filled out, about a week in advance of your appointment - so we will know this is satisfactory and you wish to keep it. Also, if you wish to change any of your questions by that time, please let us know.

“Please fill out one of the applications for readings in your membership book and return with check for $10.00.

“Hoping the date set will be satisfactory, and that we may be of service to you…”

R3. 9/23/29 [2917]‘s letter:

”…I have your letter of September 21st and thank you very kindly for reserving a time for me for a Business reading by your Mr. Cayce.

“I recognize the importance of your health readings and that they take precedence over ordinary life or business readings. Nevertheless, I would deeply appreciate your making our appointment earlier if possible, because I sail for the Orient on November 13th and will be away for five or six months.

“I hand you herewith my check for $10.00 and would thank you if you could write me by return mail, arranging for the appointment some time during the month of October…”

R4. 9/30/29 EC’s letter to [2917]:

”…Replying to yours of the 23rd, owing to the recent ruling of the Board of Governors of the Association regarding Business readings, it will be impossible for us to change the time of your appointment - and feeling this is not in keeping with your best interests for this to be delayed so long, we feel we have to return herewith your check in the amount of $10.00.

“I am very sorry we cannot get this in for you, but we are so overburdened with requests for the physical - and as that is what our Institution is attempting to manifest through its offices, we feel we just have to forego the Business readings and the assistance we might be able to render in such readings, until such a time as we are able to take on more work.

“Regretting this, and hoping that we have not and will not inconvenience you and your best interests…”
