This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 25th day of February, 1943, in accordance with request made by the self - Mr. [2924], new Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc., recommended by his brother-in-law, Mr. [2546].

Time of Reading 10:35 to 10:55 A. M. Eastern War Time. …, New York.
-
GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body; answering the questions, as I ask them:
-
EC: Yes, we have the body here, [2924].
-
As we find, there are conditions that disturb the better equilibrium of the body.
-
Much of this disturbance is pathological. But there are also such anxieties, and fear, as to cause a great deal of psychological reactions.
-
While the psychological reactions are very definite, do not allow such change to prevent the body from doing that as may be suggested for the pathological - or the real physical - disorders.
-
These, as we find, have to do with very definite conditions existing as a disturbance of the superficial and the deeper circulation; in those areas along the cerebrospinal system where lesions have been produced, through congestion; so that the circulation to organs and to the brain force is deflected, in the reflexes, as to bring soreness, stiffness, upsetting of body-functions, and this great anxiety in the sympathetic system, and the circulation as related to the sensory forces of the body.
-
These, we find, are not as yet organic in their nature; yet the reflexes are such as to upset organs, as to cause headaches, as to cause the conditions through the body-forces, - as the brain reflexes, the eyes and head, - to be under great distress at times.
-
We find that these may be relieved, if there will be the consistent reactions as may be obtained by the application of definite conditions which we will indicate for the body.
-
To be sure, toxic forces have been caused in the organs, - as in liver and kidneys, especially; with congestions, and the forming of definite muscular reactions, or static conditions in areas where cerebrospinal and sympathetic nerves and blood supply are blocked. These have made some irregularity to the heart’s activity, and easily does the body become overacid.
-
These all will respond if these suggestions are carried out, that we will make here:
-
First, we would begin with the general hydrotherapy treatments. If at all practical, have these done by a good hydrotherapist. They should include first a mild dry heat, then a fume bath, preferably with witchhazel; followed by a thorough massage with special reference to those forms of treatments for the lesions in the sacral area, the lumbar axis, 9th dorsal, and through the brachial, or the upper dorsal and the cervical areas. Not so much corrections, but a thorough relaxing by the massage, following the heat and the fume bath.
-
After the general massage, massage INTO the body an equal combination of Olive Oil and Peanut Oil, - all that the body will absorb; followed, to be sure, with an alcohol rub.
-
It would also be well for the hydrotherapist to give at least two colonic irrigations, about ten days to two weeks apart; and more if there is still mucous indicated in the colon after that period. These will aid in purifying.
-
The general hydrotherapy treatments should be given at least once each week.
-
If it is impractical to have these done by a hydrotherapist, obtain for self a sweat cabinet - or gown, and take for self the fume bath. But if it is attempted to be taken by self, it should be done twice a week, see? And it will necessitate that the body have a good masseur, or one versed in same, to massage and give the rubdowns following such. Also the colonics would need to be given scientifically, by one versed in such. (Include the cervicals as well as the limbs in the massage, see?)
-
As to the diet:
-
Have plenty of fruits and raw vegetables, as to produce better eliminations.
-
Keep to those things that assist in better eliminations; as bran, whole grain cereals for the morning meals.
-
Apples, pears, peaches, plums, - whether canned or fresh, - should be taken to aid in better eliminations.
-
Leafy vegetables, - not too much of meats of any kind. But fish should be taken about twice a week.
-
Do these, and we will bring better conditions for this body.
-
We are through for the present.
Two copies to Self (one for a good physiotherapist - hydrotherapist - such as Dr. H. J. Reilly, The Reilly Service, R.C.A. Bldg., 1250 Sixth Ave., N.Y.C.) Copy to Ass’n file
(If you plan to take these fume baths at home, we would refer you to such an establishment as that of Dr. Wm. Berg, 624 West End Ave., N.Y.C. (?), who sells Sweat Cabinets or Fume Bath Gowns.)

Reports & Follow-up
R1. 3/5/43 [2924]‘s letter to EC:
Mr. Edgar Cayce Virginia Beach, Virginia
Dear Mr. Cayce:
I thank you for your kind letter, and the return of the overpayment.
You will be interested to know that at 10:35, exactly the moment of the beginning of your reading, I experienced a peculiar twinge of the back such as I have not felt before - different from the pressure I am accustomed to after exposure to cold. And the fear and anxiety you mention, while not so bothersome to me now that I am accustomed to responsibility was very much so, so that I even felt weak at the knees at times, at the period when I began, comparatively late in life, going into business for myself. The fact is my whole community (Massachusetts, where nobody heard of anyone keeping bees for a living) predicted my failure. However, I started from scratch and have accumulated bees, equipment, and modern honey house nearly paid for, and am considered one of the good beekeepers of the state. My physical condition dates from that starting period in the early thirties.
I feel you have made a contribution of real help. I plan to try the New York doctor for, perhaps two treatments; then wonder whether I can get along with a local osteopath. I can’t leave my business for very long.
You may expect a later communication from me.
R2. 3/10/43 Wife’s letter to EC:
Mr. Edgar Cayce Association For Research and Enlightenment Virginia Beach, Virginia
Dear Mr. Cayce:
I am writing for my husband [2924] to thank you for your kind attention to his case and for returning the five dollars.
We feel that your diagnosis and recommendations are correct. It will not be easy to carry out the treatments here; we are 200 miles from New York and can be away from work very little. There is a good osteopath here, but that’s about all [2924] is going to New York for about ten days to get a start with Dr. Reilly and find out how we can best carry on here at home, perhaps with the help of the osteopath. I’ll try and be there for part of the time to see for myself what I can do. A drug store is trying to get us some peanut oil, but I suppose Dr. Reilly can tell us about that.
We will let you know how we progress.
Yours sincerely
R3. 4/27/43 Wife’s letter to EC:
Dear Mr. Cayce:
We have just received the April Bulletin with the news that you Hugh Lynn - she thought it was EC] are going into the armed forces and wish to send a report about Mr. [2924].
He went to New York and had three treatments at Reilly’s and bought a fume arrangement and gown. We are now carrying on the treatments exactly according to directions the best we can at home and we are delighted with the good results, even in this short time. They make him sleep like a baby and feel better in every way. We will report in detail from time to time.
Our prayers go with you in this new phase of your work. We are wondering if the government really has the wisdom to use your higher powers for the good of our men and our country. I suppose it means that you can give no more readings for civilians for a while?
Sincerely and gratefully yours, Mrs. […]
We have just read with great interest “There is a River”.
R4. 5/1/43 EC’s letter to [2924]‘s wife:
Dear Mrs. […]
Thank you for yours of the 27th; am happy indeed to hear Mr. [2924] is feeling better, just hope he will keep on until he is his normal good self.
It is my son who has gone into the Army. I am most too old for active service. Both our boys are now away.
Thank you very much for your good letter and your prayers and hope may have these that I may carry on even in trying to be of a service to others.
Sincerely [signed] Edgar Cayce
Glad you liked the Bulletin, and comments you may have from time to time will appreciate. You may have a word for other members of the Ass’n.
R5. 5/13/43 Wife’s letter to EC:
Dear Mr. Cayce:
It was pretty dumb of me to think it was you going into the Army, instead of your son. I hope it will be a good experience for both your boys and that they will be delivered from all the possible evil.
I am writing now, at my husband’s request, and my own desire, for an application blank to become a member of the Association for Research and Enlightenment, and a reading. I have been having some very puzzling trouble with my health for the last few weeks.
We really know almost nothing about the Association and its personnel and are wondering if there is a booklet or pamphlet telling about it and just what it means to be a member, as to obligations and privileges, also any publications available.
Mr. [2924] keeps on feeling better.
Sincerely yours Mrs. […]
P.S. I was flabbergasted to run across a fume cabinet in the Montgomery Ward catalog the other day for less than
8 after we paid Mr. Berg in New York28.50 for a second hand patched up robe. The one he showed my husband was a new one, but he charged the same price for the used one he sent.R6. 12/7/43 [2924] and wife’s letter:

Dear Friends:
We are inclosing a small check ($5.00) as a contribution to the Living Sponsorship fund. We are not in a position to take stock, but wish to help as we can.
Sincerely yours, [2924] & […]
R7. 9/15/44 [2924]‘s letter:
Mary Wirsing, Membership Secretary Association for Research and Enlightenment Virginia Beach, Virginia
Dear Madam:
I am enclosing check of $6 for a Sponsorship.
Sometime a little later I will write in a report on the treatments I have received and results achieved from Mr. Cayce’s reading. They have been very helpful.
Sincerely yours, [2924]
We are thankful to have read Mr. Sugrue’s wonderful letter in the July bulletin. [2924]
R8. 9/21/50 [2924]‘s letter:
Association for Research and Enlightenment Virginia Beach, Vir.
Gentlemen:
I am putting your reminder of my lapsed membership in the right pigeonhole for my attention later on, probably in December.
The amount is small, but I am going to be short of money for the next two months at least after which our heaviest expenses will be past.
I always think of Mr. Edward Cayce and what he did for me with gratitude and regret; regret that he isn’t still alive doing his great work in person. But we can be glad that his records live on.
Sincerely, [2924]
R9. 10/27/61 GD’s note: Mr. [2924] has just sent in his renewal membership. All these years he has retained his membership and interest in the A.R.E. work.

B1. 2/8/43 Facts about My Physical Condition:
About 12 years ago I worked winters making hive equipment in the basement of my father’s old waterpower sawmill. This was damp and poorly heated. Some of the work was sitting down, and I sat facing the stove until my back ached with the cold, pounding away on the bench, and then turned and worked till my knees ached, et cetera. I couldn’t work bundled up. I think I eventually got a permanent condition of cold in my back, and this seemed to have considerable influence on my heart. In cold weather my back ached terribly for some years. Lately this is not so noticeable, but a stiffness is more apparent. Winter periods of warmth and cold affect my general health. The cold ones after a time affect my heart action. I tire easily, sometimes get out of breath. I have at times overworked and lifted too hard. I think this was the cause a few years ago of the almost maddening sensation of a heavy weight on my head, a dull brain pressure that was sometimes interspersed with a stabbing pain, first on one side, then on the other. After some days of this my memory began to be affected. Dr. Abrams’ treatments dissipated the trouble for two years; further treatments were then necessary. The trouble hasn’t come back, but I feel it is potentially there, and needs to be cleared up along with the peculiar, possibly rheumatic back condition.
B2. 2/15/43 Mr. [2546]‘s letter to EC:
Dear Mr. Cayce,
Enclosed you will find Mr. [2924]‘s check for
25.00. I have forgotten if it was this amount or20. However am sending it along to you with the hope that your reading will be as much help to him as it was to me. Mr. [2924] is my brother-in-law and I think is quite worried about himself especially about the head condition as his Father went insane and finally died about a year ago. Am also enclosing his letter to you about himself and also the letter he sent me I thought that it might be of some help to you.You will please let him know the time of the reading as it would cause quite a delay for me to forward this information on to him. Thanking you for your help and trusting that you are having continued success in your work.
Yours truly, [2546]
