Protestant) This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office in Pinewood on Lake Drive, Va. Beach, Va., this 7th day of April, 1932, in accordance with request made by self - Edgar Cayce.

[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno. Mildred Davis, H. L. and L. B. Cayce.]

Time of Reading 11:00 A. M. Eastern Standard. (Dream Suggestion) [GC holding in her hands a typed copy of the following dreams, listed 1 through 5:

  1. Dream had April 2, 1932 during reading 325-4l, regarding something which seemed to say, “Purify yourself by going on bread and water for 19 days.”

  2. EC: Yes, we have the body, the enquiring mind, Edgar Cayce, present in this room - this we have had before. The dreams, visions, as experienced by the body, are one. Know, then, that as visioned, O Priest, that in the activities of the mind those things that make for the proper interpretation of that being experienced comes from the environs of the mental body, and of the physical attributes of the body.

  3. Monday morning, April 4, 1932 - Miss Gladys and Mildred each received a big purse full of money. Miss Gladys’ was a black purse filled with greenbacks, and Mildred’s was a red purse filled with yellowbacks.

  4. As in the raising of those activating forces as aroused the various centers of the active body to its rejection or acceptance of that as arose for the active forces to work upon, this as the vision of the thoughts acting upon the nerve centers of the system:

  5. And, as visioned in the call for others and in the using of those things that to many represented the snares of life in their action for the entrapping of those unawares, or unmindful of conditions in the life. In the return and the action of others in escaping the pitfalls, or that that would raise one to the higher levels over the varied traps or snares as seen, and the body going over same, O King, O Uhjltd, in thine understanding gained, that there must be the purifying of the body from those of the elements in carnal forces, of the foods, of the acts, of those that have become as habits in the body, that even the greases of same may be seen in the active force of the light itself that clarifies even those webs of steel and silver, that would hinder from giving the greater light to those that would follow thee in any direction.

  6. Monday afternoon, April 4, 1932, during 262-16 reading: Thought a little imp or demon of some kind was after me.

  7. Wed. morning, April 6, 1932 - Saw how a thought acts on the brain. It goes as a little wiggletale, and if you don’t want it if it’s repulsive and you shudder, it comes on in - but if you determine “I won’t have it” and close yourself to it, it is pushed on down and slapped away. The brain should be so guarded with construction that destruction can’t come in.

  8. Now then, the lesson O Priest, that as the purity, the virtue, the knowledge, the faith, the mercy, the kindnesses are shown, may the light break through from on high that makes the material things become naught. The cleansing shown in the character of place through which the body passed.

  9. Ready for questions.

  10. Thurs. morning, April 7, 1932 - Seemed to be going through Forbes’ workshop or planning mill (don’t know whether in Hopkinsville or where, but it was in that place). I was going after the rest of the family, and I recognized I was having to jump down off of ledges and in many places I was jumping onto huge piles of traps, most of which seemed to be set ready to catch something - there were piles and piles of them, but I went right on over them. I finally arrived at some place where I saw Hugh Lynn and Edgar Evans, and in the background the rest of the family. I told them that we must come at once to wherever it was we wanted to go, and I started back - but when we got to the first heap of traps the rest of them turned to go another direction, but I mounted and finally came to what seemed to be just a wall, when someone at a little door close to where I wanted to go said “Go through here.” It seemed a barber shop, I stepped in, and the door seemed to all of a sudden turn over and I found myself seated in what had been a trap door. This seemed to be in a basement, with half windows just to the top of the ground. Going straight across I found an opening, and they said I could get out that way - but I found there were invisible wires that prevented my escape, and I kept entangling first my lower limbs then my arms and hands, and as I would get through one the other seemed to be in the way. I noticed across a little enclosure a low brick building from which there seemed to be steam coming out. I seemed to reason that it was where they were steaming wood to build hogsheads with. As I struggled, I seemed to see high up - possibly from the sky - a great searchlight turning around over all the places or buildings. It finally came to rest on me. As it did, all the entanglements melted away, or broke - as burnt flax. I recognized, as I struggled, that one of these wires seemed to have left a grease spot on the left leg of my trousers, and I wondered if it would come off - but it disappeared in the strong light. I woke up.]

  11. (Q) Dream had April 2, 1932 [during 325-41], regarding something which seemed to say, “Purify yourself by going on bread and water for 19 days.” (A) All one. PURIFY thine body! RID thine self of encumbrances, that the snares and pitfalls that occur to others may be loosened, even in the light of the glorifying of the Father through that being attempted in the body.

  12. We are through.
