This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 2nd day of April, 1943, in accordance with request made by the self - Miss [2950], new Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc., recommended by Miss [2598].

Born October 25, 1912, in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Time of Reading 10:50 to 11:30 A. M. Eastern War Time. New York City.

1. GC: You will give the relations of this entity and the universe, and the universal forces; giving the conditions which are as personalities, latent and exhibited in the present life; also the former appearances in the earth plane, giving time, place and the name, and that in each life which built or retarded the development for the entity; giving the abilities of the present entity, that to which it may attain, and how. You will answer the questions, as I ask them:

2. EC: (In going back over years from the present - ” - ‘41 - expectancies, frustrations - ‘35 preparations - ‘22 - not so well - ” etc., on back to birth date.)

3. Yes - we are given the records here of that entity now known as or called [2950].

4. In giving the interpretations of the records here of that entity now known as or called [2950] - there is much to be interpreted. But these phases of same we choose with the desire that this information may be used by the entity as a helpful experience; enabling the entity to better understand the purposes and the urges that are latent in the experience of the entity.

5. Thus may the entity be enabled to better apply self as to fulfil that for which it chose to enter this experience.

6. We find the entity an Atlantean and a Uranian. And these indicate that the entity will in this experience either become one well known, and excel in many ways, or it may become the complete failure.

7. But never lose the confidence in self or self’s abilities. For it appears that those extremes will be in the experience of the entity. But hold fast to thy faith in the DIVINE, and know that as ye walk in the light of Him who is the way, the truth and the light, ye will find peace - and that peace which comes from being as a channel of help for others.

8. Taking the latent urges arising from consciousnesses other than the material, and combined with the material - or as may be called a counterpart or a composite of each, we find:

9. One who finds it very hard to work FOR anyone else. Then, learn - in self - to work WITH others. This is the greater problem of the entity, and one it must meet in self - by keeping its ideals spiritually as well as mentally, but coordinate and collaborate with others.

10. It is not always easy, but will be for the unfoldment of the entity.

11. In the experience the entity should become associated with the manager or the director of some financial undertaking. For, at the handling - or in the handling of finances, it may be said that the entity may become a past master. And in the control, and learning to control self in its work with others, the entity may through such become materially independent. But know that it is only lent thee of the Lord. And do not become self-sufficient in any of the choices of thy activities in the earth.

12. As to urges indicated from sojourns in consciousness or realms other than the earth, - we find Uranus the greater factor. For, the influence there of the extremes becomes so oft crosswise with the other urges.

13. The high mental abilities, and the love of books, the love of power, the love of the limelight, come from those influences of Uranus as combined with Mercury; while as indicated in Venus with Uranus, the entity could trim a hat almost as well as a professional if it chose!

14. Hence there is indicated the decided technique in whatever the entity chooses to do, as well as so oft considered by others as being a most too self-efficient and self-sufficient individual.

15. These are not all the talents or abilities, either! For, in Mercury, Jupiter and Uranus, there are those abilities as a portrayer of life, or incidents, or as a screen or stage artiste. There the entity may find latent and manifested elements and influences. The greater activity of these, if applied in the experience, will be found in other lands, as will be seen from the overshadowing of experiences of the entity, - when these once again were the part of the entity’s material experience in the earth.

16. Then, these are not conflicting urges or abilities but they are the extremes of those things the entity chooses to do. But choose whatever ye will, ye will do it well - if ye choose to do so.

17. But in the end, do have the home and the companion associated in either an insurance or a real estate or a banking concern.

18. As to appearances in the earth, - these, as may be suspected from the subconscious urges, are quite varied also.

19. For, as in the experience before this, the entity was in the land of the present sojourn, rather than nativity; during those early periods when there became those consciousnesses of the activities that led - later - to that freedom of speech and of activity among the fair sex.

20. The entity in those early periods, of those who became outspoken for such, was an adherent; and yet was decidedly squashed by those about it.

21. Hence the innate feeling of “hard to get along with others,” or to work for others. And, as given, learn to work WITH others.

22. For, the eventual activity of the entity, as Emily Hurst, was in that field of taking care of those preparations or foundations for ladies’ hats. The entity has a feeling for same, and yet has some peculiar creations about herself often - in this line, but has definite feelings about same.

23. In that experience the entity spiritually gained, mentally was oft in turmoil, materially became discouraged; and almost reached mentally a “don’t care” attitude.

24. It will become in the present, then, the more necessary that the entity analyze self, and as to its dependence and independence. For, one CAN depend on the entity as to what it says it will do! for it will, in spite of others, what others may say, if the entity gives its promise to do a thing!

25. In thy activity, then, keep that same character of activity; for it will build to that which will bring peace, - yea, happiness, even in this experience.

26. Before that the entity was in the Roman and Grecian land, when there were the choosings of individuals that would bring those activities from the Grecians to the Romans as pertaining to the stage (from which, of course, the screen grew), or the dramatizing of speech, of activities, of emotions.

27. The entity then was in the opposite sex, but brought a power and an influence from the Grecians to that activity in the Roman authorities. Thus, as is expressed and manifested in the present, - good of figure, good consideration of stature and of person, and the care of same.

28. In the experience the entity gained. And thus with those freedoms that have been latently and are now manifestedly in the environ also of the entity, there is the seeking for expression of that ability in such activities. It is well that such be given an opportunity for manifestation. For, while it may have many ideas that will be in a manner revolutionary, they will find response in some measures that will be good for the activity as a whole. But just as the entity came from Greece to Rome, so should the entity in the present go from its present environ to that land where it may have the advantage of the English accent, the English personality and individuality. And in same other associations may be brought about. While it may lead the entity, eventually, away from its chosen profession, it will be in those fields where it may find the greater experience and happiness - in helping others, and its companion, to attain to a material and mental, even a spiritual security - if the experience of the spiritual, as in the basic purpose of the entity, is held first and foremost.

29. The name then was Echoras.

30. Before that the entity was in the Persian or Arabian land, when there were those activities in the “city in the hills,” where there was the combining of the efforts of many, even after the attempts of the Grecian influence to change.

31. The entity was of the Persians, and thus the oriental, those things pertaining to Persian colors, have their influence.

32. The entity was an aid in those activities when there was the establishing of the hospitalization activities. Hence tenderhearted and true, deep down, - though cold at times, or apparently so, but is cultivated and not innately felt by the entity.

33. But abilities as an actress, as a poser, as an artiste in every sense, may be a part of the experience, arising from those activities of the entity then - as Persus, a beautiful maiden in that sojourn.

34. In the application, USE the abilities attained; do not abuse them, or become too self-sufficient.

35. Before that the entity was in the Egyptian land, when there were those periods of reconstruction and choices made by individuals for definite services, or - as might be broadly termed - vocational guidance.

36. The entity was among those who assisted in putting individuals “through their paces,” as might be termed, to determine those factors, latent and manifested in individuals as to their activities - especially in the fair sex.

37. Thus the entity is a fair judge of human nature, especially of others of its own ilk or sex. This is often resented by others. For, when those are met who were a part of the experience then, they clash again - as has been experienced by the entity time and again. Yet the abilities to control self, control self’s emotions, control self’s wants and desires, arise from that experience of the entity in the Egyptian period, - as Tpi-ere.

38. As to the abilities of the entity in the present, - these are quite varied.

39. But know what ye believe. Analyze thyself, first, and thy hopes, desires, purposes. Know as to whether these are in keeping with the ideals thou hast chosen, with which or by which to conduct both thy spiritual and mental life. And keep that faith.

40. Keep in those directions which will lead to a closer walk with Him.

41. Thy hopes may be attained to in material things, if ye learn to work with others.

42. Ready for questions.

43. (Q) Am I in the right profession? (A) For now, the right profession; but do go to England - and USE thy abilities in the entertaining, during the present period of activity. And there ye will meet one who must be either a financier in banking, insurance or in trust organizations; and take CONTROL, or be the power behind the throne.

44. (Q) Shall I, or can I, become a star in films while I am still young enough to take the roles I want to? (A) This the entity might do, BUT the bigger field is the home when the present disturbances are past.

45. (Q) Should I take the offer made me to go to England? (A) As indicated, this would lead to those associations - if the entity will take advantage of same - which would build for the best conditions.

46. (Q) Am I wrong in hoping to combine my material desire for fame, wealth and power, with my strong wish to serve others in the way in which I feel I can do it best? (A) Not thy will but His. Know indeed that thy body is the temple of the living God. Give the credit to Him. Use thy abilities to the glory and honor of Him, and that will be to the honor of self.

… Hotel,

Dear Mr. Cayce,

The reading was very interesting, though there were some things about it that I did not understand. I would indeed like someone to go over it with me, and explain some of the finer points, if it is convenient.

P.S. Your control refers to: “When the present disturbances are over,” I should be very happy to know when he says they will be over. I suppose he means the war. He also says I might be a star, BUT the bigger field is the home. Does that mean I shall have to choose between the two, or that I can combine them? “The entity” is a bit puzzled and upset at the moment! Also it says that “the entity may either become well known, and excel in many ways, or it may become the complete failure.” Then it says: “Those extremes will be in the experience of the entity”. Does that mean I shall be both these things at different times?

Dear Miss [2950]

Thank you for yours of the 5th - if you will call Mrs. Julia Chandler, if she is at home now am sure she will be glad to go over your reading with you, or if you speak to her on the phone - will find her in phone book - she lives at 120 East 37th St. If she can she will give you the name of some other member of the Assn who will be glad to help you with your reading.

Yes - think when the war is over what is meant “when present disturbance is over,” nothing has been given as to when that will be - however believe you are wrong in thinking that I have a control - but that is neither here nor there what you wish is help, and believe from the thousands who have used the suggestions that you too may get help by using same.

Yes - you will have to choose - very seldom does it indicate we may have both - however believe you can have something of a career before that time if you care to risk it.

Yes - the information indicates that by taking the proper choice you may become well known no matter whether you choose the whole career of the home or by taking the wrong choice you may be a nobody. But you yourself must do the choosing. For who can tell you what is right or wrong to you - but your self, that is how and why we are free-willed individuals.

But see Mrs. Chandler if possible. But read your reading every day or so, it will not grow tame, but you will find something new to ponder each time you read it.

R3. 4/8/43 She wrote requesting a Physical Reading and a Mental-Spiritual Reading.

Dear Mr. Cayce,

Thank you so much for enabling me to have my readings so soon. I should like to have either or both of them as soon as possible. If I have to fill out forms for them, will you please send me a couple. I will fit my time for them whenever you can manage it. My address, for the Physical, will be room 511, … Street.

My questions for the Physical are as follows:

1. “What causes my weight to be unevenly distributed particularly the thickening in my legs and thighs, and what can I do to normalize the condition?
2. What causes the skin condition that I have and what must I do to improve that?
3. What general rules must I follow, to be in the best possible state of health?
4. Am I capable of having children normally, and should I ever have them?
5. Do the New Thought people, who say that you can cure yourself by thinking about it, know what they are talking about? Is there any truth in this?

I enclose a list of questions [see below] for the Mental and Spiritual readings also.

Tell me, Mr. Cayce, do you have a school of teachings for the conduct of life, like the Rosicrucians? I should be very interested in seeing some of the lessons, if you have.

MENTAL & SPIRITUAL

1. Why am I always so miserable and frustrated? Am I being punished for something?
2. What can I do to find peace and happiness? How shall I learn to “work with others”?
3. Is war ever right? Are we fighting for the right in this war? It seems that we are doing the right thing in fighting

• yet we are told that all war is wrong - and all violence. Then is it truly right for us to fight or not? How far does the turn-the-other-cheek idea extend?

4. Why do I always have miserable emotional entanglements with men? Is it my fault? I always seem to make us both unhappy and when I finally break off with them, because we are both so unhappy I never now whether I am doing wrong or not. What, for instance, should I do about B. L.? This is VERY important.
5. Is it true that you can change your whole material life by the kind of thoughts you hold? Along what lines of thought must I proceed to gain happiness?
6. When one’s loyalties seem to conflict, and one does now what is the right thing to do, how can one come to a true judgement?
7. Is it right to work for oneself, or should all one’s life be a sacrifice for others?
8. Is it right to have personal ambitions? How can one reconcile personal ambition with the teachings of Christ?
9. Is there any course of study that I should follow that could make me better and stronger? I would study Mental Healing, & Yoga, but am afraid of getting off the right track. Are the Rosicrucians good?
10. What is the RIGHT way to pray?
11. Why did I choose to enter this existence?
12. Shall I ever be happy in this world?
13. Why do we have to struggle in blindness in this life? Why can’t we KNOW what is right? So many people do wrong by mistake.

R4. 4/23/43 [2950]‘s letter:

Dear Mr. Cayce,

Thank you for your letter. The 11th of June will suit me very well for a reading. Either time will do - or both, if you can give me both readings.

I do not know where I will be at the time - perhaps on a ship in the Atlantic, but I suppose it will make no difference. I should like, please, to have the Mental & Spiritual Reading first. And whenever you find it convenient, you can give me the Health Reading. I found the Life Reading very fine, and many things about it were true I know, though I had not thought of them before.

I have already written many questions to be asked in my Mental & Spiritual Reading, & I do not know if they can all be answered. But I should like very much to know why my ambition has been so continually and painfully frustrated, and whether it is my fault or whether I am being punished for something done in a past life. These last two years have been particularly miserable in every possible way, and I should like to know whether or not it is my own fault, & what I must do to avoid such mistakes in the future. If I am doing wrong, I want to know in what way. Also, in my Life Reading it says: “Know what ye believe?” Well, how am I to find the truth and find out WHAT I believe? I want to know how much of what happens to one in life is pre-ordained, and how much of it one can control. I should particularly like to know what have been my failings in the last two years, and whether I brought my troubles on myself in this life, or whether I had them coming to me anyway. How much free will is there, - and how much destiny? I feel that I have got onto the wrong track somehow, & I want to get on the right one. Also, how shall I “learn to work with others?” How shall I study it?

And what has been wrong in my relations with men, that they are always so miserable? Is it my fault?

Where have my faults & mistakes been that I have not fulfilled my potentialities, and what must I do about them? At present am I tending towards being the “complete failure” mentioned in my Life Reading?

One more thing: The Life Reading mentions, “The reason for which the entity chose to enter this existence.” Why DID I choose to enter this life? And why, oh why, do we come into this life blind, not knowing why we are here? It does not seem fair. People can go wrong so easily, simply because they don’t KNOW.

Do you have any record that have been taken in readings, of which you have copies you could send me which might answer the more general questions?

I hope you got my last letter [7/6/43] saying that Sept. 16th would be suitable for me to have my physical reading (10.30 - 11.30) I enclosed some money to pay for it, and I now enclose a money order to pay for my original Life Reading. When it is convenient I should like to have a Mental & Spiritual Reading and a “check” Life Reading. I don’t quite know what the last is, or how soon after the original reading one is supposed to have it, or how much it costs, but there are some more questions I’d like to ask, I hope some day to come to Va. to see you.
