GC: You will give the physical condition of this body at the present time, with further suggestions for corrective measures; answering the questions, as I ask them:
-
EC: Yes, we have the body here, [2956]; this we have had before.
-
As we find, there has been response in the body - from those applications that have been made.
-
However, the body-resistances are not maintaining their equilibrium, and unless these can be stimulated to throw off those refuse forces as an excess that have naturally been created from the diffusion of diseased conditions, we find that the body will gradually retard.
-
The better application, we find, - in addition to and continuing with those things that have been indicated, - would be the adding more often of the ultra-violet with the green glass interposed between the light and the body. This would be well to be used with the Infra-Red also, for this particular body, but should not be used as long a period as the Infra-Red is ordinarily used.
-
These, as we find, offer the better policy for arousing the stimuli.
-
The heart’s activity will require that more of the digitalis be given. We would give digitol rather than digitalis when this is again given. This will work more easily with the body.
-
The acute pains in the gall duct area, and especially in the umbilical center, are the attempts of the body to readjust itself; but - unless the lights will dissipate - is gradually losing ground.
-
Keep close to those applications suggested.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) Are gallstones the only cause, or is there a growth anywhere in stomach or intestines? (A) There is an accumulation. This comes and goes, as indicated by the character of the gas pains. This is a lymph tumor in the present. This may be dissipated by the variations in the use of the lights, with the massage and the irrigations.
-
(Q) What should be avoided in the diet, other than fats? (A) That mainly to be avoided is fats.
DO give the body beef juice as a strengthening factor, but no fats in same - and this only in small quantities, and very little taken at a time. Give as medicine.
-
(Q) Should butter and milk be excluded, as well as spices and highly seasoned foods? (A) Butter and milk are hard on the body; though malted milks may be used in moderation.
-
(Q) Can these attacks be averted by diet? (A) Not by diet alone. This will necessitate the stimulating of those abilities to keep down, or to cause better drainage through the lymph centers in the intestinal tract; especially in that area of the jejunum, opposite the umbilical center.
-
(Q) Are there more gallstones, or did they pass with last week’s violet [violent?] attacks? (A) The gallstones are not the main disorder. While they appear in that area indicated, this is from accumulations of lymph pockets.
-
(Q) How is the liver? (A) Torpid, and this will be stimulated by the use of the lights.
-
(Q) What causes so much gas, and the stomach to swell and hard lumps appear, especially one place directly above the navel? (A) As indicated. Do as we have outlined. This offers the greater opportunity for help.
Unless there is continued response, - it will be separation.
- We are through for the present.

(5/18/43 GD’s note: If you have trouble locating the green plate glass, it may be secured from The American Plate & Window Glass Co., Springdale, Ave., East Orange, N.J., at $2.50 per square foot. This glass, a piece about 10 x 12 or the like, is placed about 14” from the body, between the body and the violet ray. Dr. H. J. Reilly, Physiotherapist in Radio City, N.Y., has been using this glass with marvelous results - 1250 Sixth Ave.)

Reports & Follow-up
R1. 6/8/43 Letter from Dr. Marion Dick: ”…After seeing the spectacular results on Mrs. [2956], I am beginning to believe that the days of miracles are not past. She left for home feeling not only well but happy…”
R2. 8/2/43 Daughter’s letter:
Dear Edgar Cayce,
I thought you might like to know that Mother is getting along much better since your check reading of early May. In fact ever since she started using the green glass treatment in the sun every day, she has not had another of those attacks, and I can’t tell you what it has meant to all of us to see her better and able to be out in her garden as she used to be. I often think what a miracle of faith and goodness your great work is when it can bring new hope and life to someone whom you have never even seen, and I only pray that all of us who have benefitted through your inspired help may someday be able to do something that will help further that patient task that is yours.
We would like to have another check reading sometime this fall as we are anxious to keep a close check on Mother’s condition and do what is necessary to keep her strong and able to defeat the sicknesses that seem to lurk in wait for her. Dr. Dick was a most wonderful person, truly a source of much help and inspiration, and again we are grateful to you for naming her as the person to go to. The beef juice is the only thing recommended that we have been unable to get for Mother regularly, but the carrots and beets we have raised ourselves this summer, and she eats them faithfully.
There are really no words to convey our heart’s thanks to you but be sure we think of it every day of our lives and are truly grateful.
Sincerely yours,
R3. 11/21/43 Daughter’s letter: ”…I am sorry to ask you again when so many others need help too, but I am terribly anxious to get a check reading again for my mother. She has been much better in many ways since the last reading in May, but with winter which is always worse for her, she has begun to have trouble again, especially with the ‘short breath’ spells. …We are deeply grateful for your goodness and the miraculous help you have given. …Since the green glass treatment advised in the May check reading asked for by Dr. Dick is for use with the sun and this is not now possible to use it out of doors, we have found a sun lamp but don’t know how much should be given each day. The green glass has been the only preventative of the agonizing attacks which mother suffered all last winter and up to the May reading.
“1. How long should sun lamp be used and how often and is Infra-Red or Ultra-violet ray better? 2. How far should body be from the lamp during the treatment and where particularly should the rays be directed? 3. What can be done to prevent the short breath spells? 4. Should any food be added to the diet and is there sufficient nourishment at present? 5. What will help strengthen the head? 6. What will get rid of the pain in the back?…”
R4. 2/16/44 Daughter’s letter: ”…I know you are crowded with sufferers seeking the help which you alone are able to give. …I am still so anxious over mother’s growing shortness of breath that I just had to ask if perhaps there was time for a reading… I realize it is a slim chance… We have an appointment for April 15th but that was the first date open when I wrote you last fall and since then she has had increasing trouble in breathing and I just can’t bear to sit and see it grow worse…into the terrible attacks of last winter. This is a trouble not mentioned in any of the readings before…”
R5. 3/2/44 Daughter’s letter” ”…Your kind letter was as always the very answer to our prayers… There are no words to tell you of the help that has come to us just in the past short year since we first wrote. Since it was back in the fall that I first asked for the check reading I am enclosing another list of questions instead of the old ones. What will relieve the ‘short breath’ spells to which the body is so often subjected? Is there any way to help the hoarseness of the voice? How often should the sun lamp be used and how near should it be placed to the body? Should the green glass be used with it more? What should be given to strengthen the heart and how often should the digitol be given? Is Dr. B. A. I. helping the body or is there anyone else who will help more? Should more rest be taken by the body and if so, how much daily? Does the lymph tumor cause the nausea at times? What most of all will bring about better conditions for the body?…”
R6. 3/10/44 Daughter’s telegram: “Please forgive me for troubling you again but the doctors do not know what to do for the lymph tumor which Mr. Cayce found to be Mother’s trouble. She is suffering so dreadfully could you possibly tell how soon he might be able to just tell us who could help mother. Believe me, I hate to bother you or that good man who has given his strength to us all but he is the only hope if we are to save her. Wire answer collect.”
R7. 3/15/44 Letter from Charles R. Wakeling, D.O.: ”…On Saturday morning I received a telephone call from the daughter of Mrs. [2956], asking me to come out to see her mother. This was in response to your very kind telegram to them. On account of previous appointment, I was not able to visit Mrs. [2956] until late afternoon. I found her in a complete state of collapse and expected her to pass any moment. She was suffering from Terminal Metastatic Carcinosis and complete Cardiac Decompensation. Apparently she had been under no intelligent medical care and had allowed her system to become depleted of digitalis, upon which she should have depended. I stayed with her and brought her heart back so that she was fairly comfortable. However as she had been critically ill for several months, she passed on at 3:00 A.M. Monday morning [3/13/44]. I am very sorry in one way that I could do no more for her, but on the other hand she has been spared further agony. I was very much impressed with your original reading given her, as well as the check reading one month and a half later. To my mind no better description of Metastatic Carcinosis has ever been written in such a manner that the patient might not become aware of his actual condition. If there is anything I can carry out for you I shall be glad to be of service…”
R8. 4/3/44 Daughter’s letter: ”…I have to write you the sad news that Mother died on March 13th after a week’s illness. As you know from the record of her readings, she had been terribly sick many times, and I want you to know how deeply grateful we all are that through your reading of a year ago, we were able to have such a wonderful summer and good winter with her. She had not had such a good one in some years and it was because of your help that she was able to have the flower garden and other outside things that she loved so much. We all knew that she was not well, as long ago as four years back, but she was so courageous and hopeful and your help gave her, as well as all the rest of us, such new hope and strength all last year. Even at that last hour she was so sure that through the readings that was due she was so ill, she would be all right again.
“I was sorry to telephone Mrs. Cayce and then wire her again, when she must have been very concerned about your own health at that time, but I was trying so desperately to help Mother and felt it was our only chance.
“The Dr. Wakeling your wire recommended was just as helpful and good as he could be and tried very hard to save her, but it was just not to be…
“The appointment which was to have been for her third physical reading, we would like to have for Daddy, as he has had such a miserable time with his knee…”
R9. 4/9/46 Dr. Wakeling’s letter: ”…It has only been a little less than three years that I have intimately known and appreciated the tremendous import of your Father’s work. One of the greatest lectures I have ever read on fatal metastatic carcinoma was brought to my attention when the family of Mrs.
[2956] requested a physician and your Father kindly told them about me. The reading was couched in language which Mrs. [2956] could not realize but at the same time gave her great comfort and aid during her last weeks. While it was too late to do much for her physically, still the beauty and the truth from that reading comforted her a great deal in her last weeks. But to the physician the reading was a true description of the condition. That contact by the way proved a very beautiful one. Also through another reading given for her husband [5026] I aided in curing him of his arthritis…”
