This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 23rd day of March, 1944, in accordance with request made by the self - Miss [2966], Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.
[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno. (Notes read to and transcribed by Jeanette Fitch.)]
Time of Reading 3:45 to 3:55 P. M. Eastern War Time. New York, N.Y.
-
GC: You will give the physical condition of this body at the present time with suggestions for further corrective measures, answering the questions, as I ask them.
-
EC: Yes, we have the body here, [2966]; this we have had before.
-
Many are the general changes that have taken place with this body. Through the subjugation of the general nerve systems there have come changes in the eliminating channels of the body, or there are those disturbances from the menopause.
-
Unless there are periods of more perfect relaxation, the refraining from physical and mental activities, these will become very serious disturbances for the body.
-
We would advise that the body have at least six to eight weeks of relaxation where the body would be on the earth or in the sand and sunshine, and relax in same at least two or three hours twice each day.
-
Also we would use the shortwave therapy, and occasionally - once in ten days - we would have a thorough relaxing of the muscular and cerebrospinal nervous forces of the body.
-
Thus we may refrain from having these disturbances with the headaches, the cold and hot flashes, the irregularity of the heart, the feelings of portions of the body going to sleep easily.
-
We would take such a period of rest in such a place as Clearwater or Clearwater Beach, Florida, and have the administration of the massages and the shortwave therapy.
-
Do that.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) If the pain around the left breast is not due to a heart condition, to what is it due? (A) It is from the irregularity in circulation, and of course, with the changes in the glands these are parts of the mammary reaction and partly the heart disorder, or irregularity in the circulation of which the body has been warned. Thus we would have the shortwave therapy and the massages, with the body often taking exercise in the open - not of heavy natures but walking and lying on sand at such a period; not when there is too much of the violet ray from the sun but a couple of hours of morning and a couple of hours late in the afternoon.
-
(Q) What can be done for the sinus condition? (A) Do these - having the periods of rest and the shortwave therapy. This would be applied as a part of the treatments; not only the massages but the short wave therapy.
Do these and we will bring better conditions for this body.
- We are through with this reading.

”…Here I am at last [in Clearwater] after a pretty strenuous month. In fact, getting off was such an arduous task and I was so tired that I left the duplicate of the second Physical Reading behind me, as well as the first… I hope you will be able to send me another copy at once in order that I may follow the suggestions exactly. Remembering in general won’t suffice…”
R3. 2/47, 4/51, Miss [2966] ordered EC publications, etc.

B1. See 2966-1, for uterine fibroid tumor.
B2. 3/18/44 [2966]‘s letter to EC: ”…The treatments you recommended [in 2966-1] were followed until a few days before my operation, and I believe helped greatly in making that on the whole, an easy experience. About seven weeks before it, I had had an accident in the subway which seated me suddenly on the concrete platform and also jarred my elbow. Fortunately, no bones were broken or even cracked, but the muscles over the coccyx were sore for weeks. I was compelled to go into a very strenuous case within five weeks of the operation, travelled quite a bit, got a bad cold in November and severe flu in December right after taking another Reilly treatment. In January, I was in the hospital for nearly four weeks with what the doctor called ‘epidemic flu’ but felt like pneumonia. So it has been quite a year, and I find my strength, energy and spirits very slow in returning.
“Some years ago, I was told that I have a ‘cascade’ stomach, to which are attributed the severe gas attacks which give me palpitations, breathlessness, sweats and general distress, as well as chills. These symptoms have manifested themselves for over twenty years, particularly when I am tired or nervous. They come on suddenly, without obvious cause and with no relation to what I eat.
“I also have a chronic sinus irritation, naturally aggravated by and aggravating to the flu. For the past two years or so I have from time to time had rather sharp, short pains in the region of the sternum below and immediately to the right of the left breast. These were for me, merely a sign that I needed a Proguinon [?] injection; recently these have had no beneficial effect. As a child I had for some years a protruding ‘breast bone’ but special exercises seemed to restore it to its place. I also get, now rather more frequently, sharp pains in the upper left arm and in the forearms; sometimes also in the lower legs especially around the ankles.
“My sight, which was very good, has markedly deteriorated, so I need glasses for unblurred vision at any distance. My weight has gone still higher. Incidentally, the treatments had very little effect on it. On occasions my whole body feels swollen, especially the arms and ankles, and on others, my extremities, especially the forearms, grow very cold and as though drained of blood.
“There is nothing new in this picture. Neither the treatments nor the operation changed it. The former helped elimination. The latter seems to have increased the sensitivity of the left breast. Though it was the right ovary which had to be entirely removed, my chief difficulties have been on the left side. All this rarely shows in my appearance, but it has meant a tremendous handicap because of the strain of going on, despite everything.
“For these reasons, I should like to have the following questions asked: 1. If the pain around the left breast is not due to a heart condition, to what is it due? 2. What can be done for the pains in the arms and legs? 3. What can be done for the sinus condition? 4. Is there anything that can be done about the stomach and gas? 5. Are any hormones or endocrines indicated? 6. Is there any diet or special regimen to be followed? 7. Are my difficulties due to menopause, nerves or exhaustion from overwork and strain? 8. Is a long vacation important? 9. What other suggestions can be given to turn me into a fully functioning person again? 10. Is there anything to be done as a follow-up of the operation? 11. How can the bronchials be made less sensitive? 12. Are there any particular climatic conditions to be sought or avoided? 13. What is the cause of palpitations and throbbings in different parts of the body? 14. Though elimination is improved, it is not free. How can it be made so?…”
