-
GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body; answering the questions, as I ask them:
-
EC: Yes, we have the body here, [2972].
-
As we find, there are conditions which disturb the better physical functioning of the body. These vary as to the intensity of the aggravation to the body, owing to the activities, the diet, the manner in which the eliminations are active. Cold and congestion also, at times, form a part of the disturbance.
-
In times back, we find, some influences have been wrought from the outside that caused in the coccyx area, and through the pelvic bone itself, an unbalancing of the pelvic bone.
-
Hence it will be found that one limb is somewhat shorter than the other. This produces a lameness, often; and at other periods not so much, though brings about - when there are any aggravations in the body - disturbances that are excessive, and aggravating to the body.
-
As we find, in the main in other directions, so long as there is kept the vital energies, the vitality built up, the body responds very well.
-
But, to make better conditions for this body:
-
We would have the hydrotherapy treatments, of the character to include first a very mild vapor bath - with witchhazel; then the thorough rubdown, but gently given, making some corrections - not making them all at once, but gradually, through the pelvis and especially in the lumbar axis, AND the coccyx area.
-
When these corrections are being made, massage all of these areas with Peanut Oil. There should be included with this a massage to the rest of the body also, finishing with the alcohol to prevent too much of an opening of the superficial circulation, or the skin.
-
After the massage, when the body is resting, do give the Ultra-Violet Light, with the green glass shade in same. This should be taken for ten to fifteen minutes, with the ultra-violet light sufficiently far from the body.
-
After one meal each day, and whichever is the heaviest meal - whether morning, noon or night, we would take internally a quarter teaspoonful of Milk of Bismuth with five drops of Elixir of Lactated Pepsin, in a full glass of water.
-
We would add the Vitamin B to the diet; preferably by taking the B-1 Complex tablets, or the One A Day brand B-Complex.
-
Exercise a little whenever there is sunshine and warm weather, or warm enough for the body.
-
In the diet, - not too much of starches; not too much of sweets. Honey may be taken as a sweet. Rice cakes, buckwheat cakes, - these with a little honey occasionally, - and breakfast bacon, very crisp, - would be well. Beware of other types of meat, save sea food.
-
Plenty of leafy vegetables, and especially celery. Take celery rather often.
-
Do these, as we find, and we will make better conditions for this body.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) Was the injury to the coccyx the original cause of my condition? (A) It was the original cause.
-
(Q) Will I be able to move about comfortably again, especially so that I may exercise and walk? (A) Will be able to move about more comfortably.
-
(Q) May all of these treatments be given at Reilly’s? (A) As just indicated, it must be through the hydrotherapist.
-
(Q) Does this affect the heart? (A) Naturally, these conditions affect the heart indirectly. That’s why it is indicated that there be a very light fume bath, and not dry heat cabinet sweat.
-
(Q) Can I do anything about varicose veins? (A) This treatment indicated will materially aid. The main cause of the trouble should be cleared first, and then we would give further suggestions as to the varicose veins when the system has been cleared a good deal, see? for these will require other applications entirely.
-
(Q) What is the cause of the attacks of extreme nausea and vomiting? (A) The reflexes from pressures in the lumbar, and especially in the coccyx area.
-
(Q) For my tiring so quickly? (A) Lack of vital energies, and thus the needs of Vitamin B in the assimilations of the body.
Do these things, and we will make better conditions for the body.
- We are through for the present.

Reports & Follow-up
R1. 4/27/43 Letter: “This is to acknowledge the receipt of your letter and reading and to say that I have an appointment for this afternoon for my first treatment at Reilly’s.
“I thank you very much and will write you again, later, as to my progress.”
Background
Background
B1. 4/13/43 Letter: “My difficulty is a peculiar lameness in one leg, and extending across the lower part of the back, across what is termed the lumbar region - just above the buttocks. It is difficult to start right off and walk, immediately upon rising from a chair, but once I get started I go along very well, unless I try to walk some distance. The condition seems to be more a soreness and lameness instead of pain, altho at times there is pain, mostly in just the one leg of night after going to bed at night, until I can gradually get into a comfortable position. Standing very long at one time seems to bring on great fatigue, and I find my energy or endurance decreasing. I have had some diagnosis from competent physicians, but they have not been able to find either the cause or remedy.”
- What was the original cause of my condition?
- What is causing the physical discomfort, or disease, that I have been experiencing for the past 5 or 6 years, of lameness and stiffness in right side?
- What can I do to correct it and be able to move about comfortably again, especially so that I may exercise and walk as has always been my custom?
- Does this affect the heart?
- Would osteopathy be helpful or harmful?
- Can I do anything about varicose veins?
- What are the only occasional attacks of extreme nausea and vomiting when food seems always digested and only a white liquid substance comes up (these attacks that come on about 3 a.m. and generally when I visit at the home of a friend)?
- What is the reason for my tiring so quickly?
