This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Va. Beach, Va., this 2nd day of June, 1933, in accordance with request made by self - Mrs. [301], Active Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.
[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno.]
Time of Reading 11:10 to 11:35 A. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, N.Y.
-
GC: You will have before you the body and enquiring mind of [301], N.Y. in regard to the physical health of herself and baby [314]. You will answer the questions which she has submitted, as I ask them.
-
EC: Yes, we have the body, the enquiring mind, [301]; this we have had before, also those conditions that surround the body relating to the welfare of [314].
-
In giving the conditions, as we find, these must as a whole be considered, as their relationships one to another.
-
In the physical condition, then, of [314], we find that owing to those conditions existent in the milk there is not sufficient of those vitamins that would make for the normal developments for the body. And the other properties, as of curd and casein, are of such a nature as to cause or produce very easily an indigestion, a colic, and the recurrent conditions with same.
-
While, as we find, this may be altered, and the diet and foods for the mother may change the character of the food in a definite way and manner, unless this may be accomplished it would be well to add those properties in the feedings that will be of particular value to meet the needs of the conditions.
-
And while this in the present should be watched rather closely, in the next four to six weeks there should be at least one or two more tests made of the milk to insure that this will supply the correct properties for the normal, healthy developments of the body [314], see?
-
Then the properties, as we will find, are those that may supply the balancing of the vitamins in the system; and first there should be the test made to see that which is lacking in the proper balance, and we would add - even as yet - the viosterol, or those vegetable forces, and orange juices in small quantities; but the tests would best be made so as to give the proper balance in the quantity that would be added in between, or at specific feedings for the body, see?
-
In these conditions there is an excellent opportunity for the efforts and abilities of Fisher - Dr. Fisher, see? He is a specialist in this line, and will aid in making the proper tests, the proper balancing for the foods.
-
It will be found that the use of a little limewater and cinnamon water, equally balanced, will aid in overcoming the tendencies of curd and make for an easing when there are those conditions arising from the indigestion or colic - see?
-
Then, in the matter of [301], we find that the general strain on the body - and the short period between those conditions that made for the developing of a very small or young body - makes for those tendencies for too much of the casein in the nursing, see?
-
Hence there will be those necessities for the body to add in the diet more of those that will add - not the quantity overburdened, but - the quality of the nursing.
-
Hence we will find that the use of those properties that may be had in dried milk, Ovaltine, oatmeal, cereals that carry quantities of vitamins, will aid in balancing the supply of milk for the body or child, see?
-
In relationships to those conditions where there are irritations, that are caused or produced from the lacerations in portions of the body, where there has been the tendency for the torn places in the body (and through the irritations in same produce distresses in the rectum, and in these portions of the system), these - as we find - may be the better aided by the general manipulations, osteopathically given, to relieve pressures through the lumbar and sacral area; and in using a mild antiseptic that would clarify these irritations in the system, that may be had with the use of enemas carrying Glyco-Thymoline as an intestinal antiseptic for this particular portion of the body - and also include agar and oils, or that which may be had in the combination of these, or there may be used the Russian White Oil that will aid in relieving the irritation. Use a tablespoonful to a quart of water, in the enema.
-
These, as we find, would bring about the bettered conditions for the body, making corrections for the general condition and health of the body for the improvement of those conditions that disturb the developing body [314].
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) What teeth need fixing now? (A) Those of the first molars, both upper and lower; more on the right side than on left. These need LOCAL attention, see? and it would be well that there be used, as a massage, those properties found in Ipsab; for these will produce (if properly used - about every other day, see) the proper irritant and counter-irritant for the gums, thus aiding in the correction for making proper balance in the system.
-
(Q) Should bridge work be done now? (A) This should be deferred for at least thirty to sixty days, until there is at least a more healthy condition in the gums and the teeth.
-
(Q) Should my hips be given any special treatments now? (A) Those that may be had with the corrections, that will alleviate the pressures in the lumbar and sacral area, will be sufficient in the present; though there may be - a little later - the vibrations from the rotary machine, that will reduce these.
-
(Q) Where may Dr. Fisher be located, on Staten Island or in New York? Please give address. (A) In New York - the baby specialist.
-
(Q) How much orange juice should be given, and how often? (A) As we have indicated, this had best be balanced with the condition in the mother’s milk - by the tests, see? so that the PROPER balance is created. We do not want to overfeed, but these are given as the necessary elements. It will be found also that Gerber’s vegetable juices may be used in small quantities, but the vitamins and the necessary balances for the supplementary feeding should go according to that which is lacking in - or overcharges of - elements in the milk, see? and, as we find, it may be only a few weeks before you may return to the mother’s milk, should it develop properly. Should it not, then it would be necessary to make the feeding wholly, see?
-
(Q) What causes baby’s crying, and how can it be corrected? (A) This is mostly from the lack of proper balance in food, and from the colic. One or two drops of Glyco-Thymoline taken internally, as an intestinal antiseptic for the baby, will prevent any occurrence of a disturbance through the colon - or colitis.
-
(Q) What dosage of cinnamon water and limewater should be used for colic? (A) The proportion, of course, is: To 1 ounce of the limewater and 1 ounce of cinnamon water, add 2 ounces of BOILED water. Then, when it is used, use about half and half of water and the limewater and cinnamon water combined. Not too great a quantity at a time, of course. This may be taken in the bottle or it may be given in spoon.
-
(Q) Is this the quickest way to relieve colic? (A) The quickest way, as we find, for these specific conditions.
-
(Q) How often, and how long, should baby be fed? (A) The regular hours, or regular period. This should be governed much by the instructions that may be given from the physician, to be sure; and this is considering - and has to take into consideration the quality and quantity of the food values given. But this, as we find, will correct itself.
-
We are through for the present.

Reports & Follow-up
R1. 6/3/33 EC’s letter:
“We sent the information gotten for yourself and [314]. We were very much surprised to know that in the reading itself Dr. Fisher was recommended. I have had several run-ins with Dr. Fisher. I couldn’t say that I know him very well, yet he is very well acquainted with the readings. I first met him at Mrs. [903]‘s, and if you are unable to locate him I am sure she can give you his address. You will find him, I am sure, quite a nice man; one really with a great deal of ability; while young, quite efficient and trustworthy. If I understand the information correctly, it would be well for you to work with him until you are able to get yourself - and the supply of milk for [314] - quite well adjusted. I hope, too, that the suggestions for yourself will prove to be just the very thing needed at this time.
I’m sorry that [314] is not getting along so well, but certainly hope to have a different report in our next letter; and know that we will be very anxious - and would like for you to let us hear, for we know how changes come with babies. They may be very well today, and tomorrow quite ill. Yet the trouble she has is quite hard to meet, unless we hit just the very thing. We have had several experiences of this kind, some in our own family and some in those close to us - in our very good friends. The readings have certainly been very wonderful in every one of these cases.
I certainly would appreciate your letting us hear from you. With love and kindest regards from all, I am ever the same,” Edgar Cayce
R2. 6/20/33 Husband [282]‘s ltr.: “I am glad to say that [301] and the babies [299] and [314] are very well, and they join me in best wishes for the coming year for you and those close to you.”
R3. 4/14/34 Mrs. [301] was present for Physical Rdg. 314-2 and Ck. Physical 299-4 for her little girls.
Background
Background
B1. 3/23/33 She obtained Ck. Physical 301-8 in her eighth month of pregnancy.
B2. 4/18/33 Her baby [314] was born.
B3. 4/22/33 She wrote: “The first cry was so loud and long; and she has been sleeping just about all the time since. We just can’t get her to waken even to eat. She even sleeps during her bath. Perhaps she’ll be just the opposite when she gets home. After she has had a little to eat she shuts her jaw and you just can’t open it to MAKE her take more.”
B4. 5/30/33 Mrs. [301] wrote for Ck. Physical for self and baby, submitting questions: “Do you think it will be possible to get these in the same rdg., since we are both still very closely connected? [314] has not been gaining as rapidly as we think she should and, at times she cries a great deal, so we would like for you to answer the following questions: [Including:] Is my milk chemically correct for baby? If not, how can it be made so? Outline in detail correct diet for me while nursing baby. Give best formula for one feeding a day to start baby on. Give quickest way to relieve colic. How can curds in baby’s bowels be corrected? What is causing trouble in my rectum again, and how should it be treated? Give name of doctor that can give correct baby advice. I hope you can answer all these questions as we are very anxious to know just what to do, as we do not think much of the one baby doctor I had for [299]. So perhaps you can help us find another one. Should baby be given orange juice or viosterol now?”
