This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 27th day of May, 1943, in accordance with request made by the self - Mrs. [3026], new Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research and Enlightenment, Inc., recommended by radio review of the book, THERE IS A RIVER.
[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno.]
Time of Reading 11:10 to 11:25 A. M. Eastern War Time. …, Penna.
-
GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body; answering the questions, as I ask them.
-
EC: Yes, we have the body here, [3026].
-
The conditions here are gradually growing to be very serious. But if the body loses hold of itself, it will eventually become helpless.
-
So, know in what you believe; and apply, in body, in mind and in soul-purpose, the more of creative influences and forces.
-
We find that the disturbance arises from a general debilitation through the glandular forces of the body; and thus attacking a lobe of the liver, that prevents the proper assimilation of foods that will give that through that assimilated the ability for reproduction of self, especially in the cellular force and the lymph and emunctory circulation, that replenishes nerve energies.
-
These, then, we would do:
-
First, have prepared the Dry Cell Appliance through which the Chloride of Gold may be given the body vibratorially. This may be attached to the wrist and the body, or to the ankle and the body; and it would be well to vary these connections from day to day - or the attachments, see?
-
This should be prepared with the anodes or connections so that the one attached to the body comes from or through the Gold Solution (in the proportions of one grain Chloride of Gold to each ounce of distilled water, and use at least three ounces of the solution). This should be of nickel, and would be attached to the body at the umbilical and lacteal duct plexus, or - on this body - one hand’s breadth, that is the four fingers from the navel center to the right, directly, and two fingers upward. THERE attach the large nickel plate. Attach the small copper plate one day to the right wrist, the next day to the left wrist; the next day to the right ankle, the next day to the left ankle; and so on.
-
But keep the anodes clean. Disconnect them from the Appliance, or Battery, when not in use.
-
Attach to the body each day, you see, for thirty minutes - ten minutes the first five days, twenty minutes the next five, and then thirty minutes thereafter. Work up to it gradually.
-
Change the Gold Solution after it has been used for fifteen days.
-
Do this regularly.
-
Also each day we would have a very hot bath, - not so hot as to be too weakening, but in same - which would cover the body fairly well - put half an ounce of Pine Oil; not Pine Needles but Pine Oil. Stir this thoroughly into the water. Lie in this for about twenty minutes.
-
Then thoroughly rub down, and especially the limbs and the hips, and the shoulder and shoulder blades, with Peanut Oil - just Peanut Oil - using what the body will absorb.
-
Do these, and then be mindful of the diet, that there are plenty of those foods that carry more calcium, - such as the bony pieces of chicken, as fish especially - as salmon and such characters of fish. Not canned; preferably fresh. All of these characters of seafoods should be taken often; four to five times each week let it be a part of one meal.
-
These do, and we should find aid for the body, materially.
-
Ready for questions.
-
Do that.
-
(Q) Is there any source of trouble in spine or brain? (A) Rather in the glandular forces. The weakness is in the nerves that pass along same. These cause the dizziness to the brain forces. Not a brain lesion of any kind, as we find.
-
(Q) Is this condition in the liver causing the slow paralysis? (A) It is causing the slow paralysis.
-
(Q) Will I be well enough to return to my work? (A) This depends upon the body’s reaction, to be sure. As indicated, this has advanced and is serious. But as to the matter of attitude - don’t give up!
-
We are through for the present.

Reports
Reports & Follow-up
R1. 4/14/44 Letter dictated by [3026] to EC:
“I am writing in reference to the above reading to ask you if you can send me a list of doctors who would cooperate with us. The doctors I have had this past year have refused to consider the possibility of the condition being one of glandular origin as you stated in your reading.
“Instead, they insist that I am a true case of Parkinson’s, which they tell me is hardening of the arteries, and admit that they do not know the cause or the cure for the same. I have tried to interest several of them in your diagnosis, but to no avail.
“I, personally, feel that there is a great possibility that your diagnosis is correct, as the strain of walking or any prolonged motion affects only the abdomen, causing a tight and strained nervous tension which ceases the moment I try to relax.
“I am anxious to cooperate and report to you further as I promised I would do, so am writing to you in desperation, hoping that we can contact a doctor who will try to help.
“I have been following the reports of the Association with interest, and was sorry to learn that your health has not been so good, and sincerely hope that it may continue to improve.
“Hoping that I may have something of interest and encouragement to contribute in the near future,…”
[GD’s note to MV: Refer her to Dr. Marion Dick, 5041 Spruce St., & Dr. C. Haddon Soden, (look up) osteopaths who have had experience with following readings, and who will cooperate with her in following treatments, etc.]
R2. 4/18/44 EC’s letter to [3026]:
“In reply to your letter of April 14, 1944, I am sending you the names of two doctors who will cooperate with you in following your reading: Dr. Marion Dick, 5041 Spruce St., Philadelphia, and Dr. C. Haddon Soden, 12 South 12th Street, Philadelphia.
“I know that it must be very discouraging to meet with such opposition in your efforts to regain your health. I do hope that you will not give up. We were very glad to receive the report on your case, and hope you will continue to send them in the future. Such information will be most helpful in doing research work on the records.
“Thanking you for your cooperation, and hoping to be of further service…”
Background
Background
B1. 4/27/43 [3026]‘s letter to EC:
“About four years ago, I suffered an attack of grippe, which did not seem unusually severe at the time, but I did not seem able to regain my strength for so long after, that doctors have since felt this to be the beginning of my present affliction, a slow, creeping paralysis, which they have diagnosed as Parkinson’s Disease, and for which there is no known cure. The paralysis has been evident for about three years, starting with a tremor in the left hand and progressing slowly to the right side, until at present, I find it very difficult to walk or move arms or limbs. Another doctor told me about a year ago that my trouble was in my spine, and since I am entirely free from any pain, have never been seriously ill or sustained any falls that I can recall, I don’t know which of the doctors to believe. Two years ago, I spent two weeks in the hospital for a thorough check-up and was pronounced okay in every test. I have been taking treatments from a chiropractor for about eight months, but fail to see any improvement as yet…”
Questions submitted:
- What is causing this slow paralysis of nerves?
- Is there a cure for it? If so, what is the treatment?
- Will I be well enough to return to my work?
- Is there any source of trouble in spine or brain?
B2. 5/17/43 Sister’s letter to EC:
“Thank you so much for your letter of May 13, 1943 to Mrs. [3026].
“As she is unable to write, I, her sister, am doing so for her.
“Mrs. [3026] hesitates to take advantage of your generous offer for a free reading, but need for your services have become so urgent that she is forced to do so. The symptoms of paralysis in hands and arms have become increasingly worse in the past two weeks, that she is quite alarmed.
“Mrs. [3026] thinks it wise to act upon your suggestion that she withhold some money for doctor bills to follow your treatments, but she insists upon your having some money for your services, so she is enclosing money order for ten dollars, which she hopes will be acceptable.
“With sincerest thanks and appreciation for your generosity…”
