This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 11th day of June, 1943, in accordance with request made by the self - [3047], new Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research and Enlightenment, Inc., recommended by the book, THERE IS A RIVER.
[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno.]
Time of Reading 10:30 to 10:45 A. M. Eastern War Time. …, Ala.
-
GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body; answering the questions, as I ask them:
-
EC: Yes, we have the body here, [3047].
-
As we find, there are inclinations that may become very serious. For these are disturbances in the central circulation; that is, that deeper circulation as related specifically to lungs, heart, liver and kidneys. And these show irregularity, which is indicated by that irregular condition in the pressure, a condition that at times - though as yet this occurs only under stress - causes the skipping in the heart beat; upsetting in the digestion, and the lack of those abilities or tendencies towards lack of breathing deep enough.
-
Thus at times the lungs in part are left with the lack of proper oxidization of the whole of the blood stream; tiredness occurs at times; heaviness across the small of the back, just below the kidneys at times; the lack of proper assimilation of foods, and the lack of the proper combinations in the lactic acids, or the combination of alkalines and acids.
-
The lacteal circulation, then, is inadequate for the proper assimilation of foods.
-
Thus at times there is a good deal of belching, at others some uncomfortableness across the area of the diaphragm, and a heaviness at times in the lower portion of the alimentary canal.
-
The headaches that ensue from these are of the dull character; the eyes burn at times; also there is the bad taste in the mouth.
-
These, as we find, are the sources, and those tendencies and inclinations in the body, [3047].
-
We find that these would bring about much better conditions:
-
As a balance in the digestive forces, rather than the character of acids taken in the present, we would take ACIGEST; a teaspoonful in raw milk every other day, preferably at the evening meal. This will be better assimilated.
-
Also we would add a small quantity of CALCIOS three times a week, as a stimulator for the calcium content of the body-forces, adding much to the abilities of the body to assimilate and eliminate properly. Take just the quantity that would be required to spread on a whole wheat cracker, thinly, and eat it - with the cracker, you see. This is the better manner for the assimilation.
-
Also we would have at least eight to ten GENERAL osteopathic treatments, with special reference given to the areas in the upper dorsal and through the cervicals, and at the lumbar axis - or 4th lumbar, and through the sacral. These should be relaxing treatments, rather than stimulating treatments.
-
Do not have these until there is the beginning of the taking of the ACIGEST and the CALCIOS internally. This will enable these to assimilate or to work better with the activity of these properties upon the body.
-
Then the matter of the diet:
-
Do not take ANY carbonated waters, or carbonated drinks of any kind.
-
A little apple brandy (but a good brandy, not Applejack) made as a toddy occasionally will be beneficial. This should be taken AT the meals, as medicine, not as a drink.
-
Do not take ANY of the drinks made with carbonated waters, or those prepared from hops. These are bad for conditions that exist, and the tendencies through alimentary canal.
-
The foods that are of the nature of leafy vegetables, both raw and cooked, are preferable to those of the tuberous nature; though carrots - both raw and cooked - are well. Potatoes should be very sparse, not more than once or twice a week.
-
Other leafy vegetables - the tops of beets, especially, - are good; water cress in salads is excellent for the body.
-
These will tend to aid, especially, the superficial circulation.
-
As to meats, use plenty of sea foods (not fresh water fish), fowl and lamb. No hog meat, nor any other type of meat; though a little crisp breakfast bacon may be taken occasionally.
-
Eggs should be a part of the diet almost daily.
-
Do these, and we should find better conditions for this body.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) Then I should discontinue the hydrochloric acid I’ve been taking? (A) As we find, while ACIGEST is hydrochloric acid, it is prepared in a manner that - as combined with the other things suggested here it will work better with the body. So we would change to this.
-
We are through for the present.
Two copies to Self (one for osteopath, when you are ready to start these treatments - Both Dr. Percy Woodall and Dr. John H. Newman, osteopaths - in the Nelson Bldg. and Woodward Bldg., respectively - have had experience with Mr. Cayce’s readings. Let us know which one you choose.) Copy to Ass’n file
(6/11/43 GD’s note: ACIGEST and CALCIOS are both distributed by The Colloidal Health Products Corp., Greenvale, Long Island, N.Y., Atten. A. A. Nichoson. Acigest sells for 1 a bottle. Calcios is a syrupy paste containing free calcium easily assimilated, and sells for 2.50 a jar.
In regards to the apple brandy, Hildick’s Apple Brandy is supposed to be the purest - and may be obtained at ABC store.)

Gentlemen:
I received my physical reading which you were good enough to send by Air Mail. It took about ten days to get the Acigest and Calcios from New York but am taking it now as well as the treatments from Dr. Percy Woodall of Birmingham.
It is naturally too early to know of results but I will advise you later in regard to this.
I have read and am studying the book “A Search for God” and should you have any further studies or literature I would be glad for you to send these to me and I will remit whatever the cost of them be. In reading “A Search For God” I find certain Mile Posts standing out somewhat clearer and feel that a study of it will bring them out clearer yet.
With due appreciation of your help and with good wishes, I am
Yours very truly, [3047]

Dear Mr. Cayce:
Along about the middle of 1943 you were good enough to give time for a 15 minute physical reading for myself pertaining principally to the cause and removal of certain numerous headaches of long standing, and I promptly followed your suggestions with the osteopath and other treatment prescribed. The headaches, I am very happy to say, have become less numerous and seem more under control.
At the same time, though, I had another malady that was no doubt much more serious, since revealed by operation, in the form of a malignant cancer of some size. I have no lack of confidence in the readings since what was seen was without doubt rightly given. In the meantime this growth has been removed with the gland but due to the spreading type of the cancer I am most anxious that a check-reading be now made to cover the progress as to the elimination of the cause of the headaches and as to the extent and spread of the cancer has been entirely removed. I would also like any information of help or interest that can be furnished from past readings on this subject of cancer.
I might add that I am deeply interested in the general purposes set forth for the Association and your own life work is certainly inspiring. Words that come acceptable to the guidance of the body and soul, from intelligence unfettered by the many prejudices and shackles of fleshly influence, are of the pure light.
Sincerely, [3047]
Please note change of address shown above, which is my residence. Services in the armed forces being probable shortly, would like this change in address.

Gentlemen: Att: Mr. Edgar Cayce
Many thanks for your letter of Feb. 1st giving me time for the reading for the afternoon of April 12th, 3:30 to 4:30, EWT. In the meantime the Army has turned me down so I know where I will be and am accepting this time.
I am sincerely and earnestly looking forward to the information this reading will give. The cancerous growth was no doubt existent at time previous reading was given, although unknown to myself as such. I am, though, very happy to say that recurring headaches formerly had have, since my first reading, been much relieved if not overcome. I do appreciate very much the time you have given to me, knowing how much your time is taken up, and prayerfully await results of the coming reading.
Check for $10.00 is attached, and also list of questions for the reading.
Sincerely, [3047] [Enc. 2.]
P.S. On April 12th for the reading I will be in …, Alabama, Room …
1 - Should the Acigest formerly suggested be continued or has the deep X-ray therapy affected this condition? 2 - Was the cancerous growth localized so that it was removed, or was it of more general spread?
3 - If cancer still exists or the tendency to same still exists, what is the cause and how may the condition and the tendency to the condition be removed?

B1. 5/10/43 Mr. [3047]‘s ltr. to EC:
Mr. Edgar Cayce, Virginia Beach, Va.
I have just finished reading the book “There Is A River” and have not only enjoyed it but find it encouraging, enlightening and inspirational. I am interested in any other literature the Association may have at this time.
I am also interested in a Physical Reading for myself having suffered from apparent migraine headaches since 1927, often continuously for a number of days at a time. Doctors have diagnosed as to a number of different things to no avail. It is aggravated by sleeping on my right side. I believe you can clear this trouble up for me.
Will you please send me information concerning the reading, and also advise of the cost.
Kindest regards,
Yours very truly, [3047]

Gentlemen:
I appreciate Mr. Cayce’s letter of the 28th and the appointment for June 11th, 9:30 to 10:30, our time here, is satisfactory. I will be at my place of business at …, Alabama, which is on the fourth floor.
My given name is [3047].
I want particularly to know the cause of recurring headaches of which I’ve had a history since about 1927, and the way to rid myself of same. I hardly know what questions to have asked and am willing to let this be handled by the person conducting. I am taking diluted hydrochloric acid for these and have had some relief and would like to know if this be helpful or not. From my reading of “There Is A River” I’m sure the readings are rather exhaustive without the questions.
I would like very much for you to mail me a copy of “A Search For God” for which I enclose $1.00 in currency.
I am presuming it will be satisfactory to be at my work on June 11th but if this be not satisfactory, please advise. With every good wish for you and your important work, I am [3047]
