This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 21st day of June, 1943, in accordance with request made by the self - [3052], new Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research and Enlightenment, Inc., recommended by the book, THERE IS A RIVER.

1. GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body; answering the questions, as I ask them:

2. EC: Yes, we have the body, [3052].

3. As we find, there are disturbances that prevent the better physical functioning. These have a complication of causes, thus a great deal of distorted reaction at times.

4. These are the conditions as we find them with this entity, [3052]:

5. The blood supply indicates the effect of toxic conditions that exist through the body, especially as related to the lymph and emunctory circulation.

6. This, then - involving the disturbance that arises by that effect produced in the eliminations, and the reactions - brings about in many portions of body the disorders, with eliminations physically and the activity of organs through the sensory system itself.

7. These, as we find, are the effects of former disturbances in a material experience.

8. The nerve forces indicate how these pressures are especially indicated in the roaring in the head, the disturbance with the vision, the effect upon the eliminations and assimilations in the body.

9. These, then, are the results of disturbances affecting more the circulation, the character of blood supply. And there are specific conditions that cause these reactions in the organs of the sensory system, - which is indicated by a catarrhal condition through the antrum, and the soft tissue of face, head and throat. And these, by the secretions not carried through circulation that drain into the alimentary canal, contribute to the disorders.

10. We find the effect upon heart, liver, kidneys, and lungs, and the lack of proper flow of circulation through the organs, through the areas that even control the activity. Thus we find not as a source, but as a contributory condition, a subluxation through the areas of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd dorsal, those pressures in the 1st cervical.

11. These contribute, in their return, in their activity, to periods when there is such a quantity of anxiety as to cause poor assimilation and elimination through alimentary canal.

12. In making corrections:

13. First there should be a few good, thorough osteopathic adjustments. These we would have every day for at least three, four to five periods - until there has been established better coordination between the superficial and cerebrospinal system.

14. With these corrections there should be specific treatments for throat and head neck; not only by the moving of the centers in the dorsal area, as indicated, but the stimulating of the glandular forces in arms, in chest, in diaphragm area, extending to the central portion of the body-force itself.

15. After there have been at least half a dozen of such adjustments, leave them off and then begin with hydrotherapy; first cleansing the colon, and then - by the massage - stimulating the activity to near to normal reactions.

16. Do that, and we will bring bettered conditions for this body.

17. Ready for questions.

18. (Q) What causes partial deafness in the left ear? (A) This is the effect of ACCEPTING the hindrances that may arise - and the lack of faith or confidence to have same removed.

19. (Q) Long standing trouble in intestinal tract, causing very painful gas? (A) As indicated, this is a part of the general condition, and - with the coordinant activity of rebellion - is tied up also with the causing of the headaches.

20. (Q) Are the causes physical, psychological or spiritual? (A) These are tendencies from the psychological. The effects are very material, or body-mind forces - in the present.

I am following the directions of the Reading, and my doctor is co-operating also. There is a condition affecting our home-life, which at present seems serious. I have tried in every way I know and through the use of prayer to heal this trouble. It seems to be worse, and I am writing to ask your help. I am enclosing ten dollars and will appreciate an emergency reading when possible. It is in regard to an attitude of mind, or an obsession in the mind of my husband [5395]. Thanking you, I am

My dear Mr. Cayce:-

I enclose a letter from Dr. Peterson regarding our following of instructions suggested in my physical reading.

Not getting the desired effect after the treatments, and the colonic irrigations, we repeated them twice - (The irrigations were given by Mrs. Constance Gaul, 18 East 53rd Street, New York).

While I get relief, it is temporary and the old trouble returns. Also the ringing in the head, and deafness in the left ear is no better. I will be glad to have further help when it is possible.

I understand that my next reading comes on August 20th in the afternoon between 3:30 and 4:30. I expect to be in my own home, and in my bedroom at that hour.

DR. THURE C. PETERSON (Letterhead) Chiropractor Departments of Clinic and Neurology New York School of Chiropractic 852 Valley Rd., Upper Montclair, N.J. Telephone, Montclair 2-4365 Dear Mr. Cayce,

I have attempted to follow through the mechanical phase of the correction given in the reading of Mrs. [3052] and although there has been some change it appears to be only of a temporary nature.

Mrs. [3052] has followed the other hygienic measures as well and has been faithful in all the work.

If it is possible to receive more specific data on the correction necessary as well as more definite information as to the length of time and number of treatments, it would be very helpful to me in caring for the patient.

I have asked Mrs. [3052] to enclose this note with one of her’s for better association of my name with her’s.

My dear Mr. Cayce:-

The booklet of the Association arrived yesterday, and was read carefully and with deep interest. As I wrote in my first letter to you, my attention was recently called to your work, through the book called “There is a River”.

Therefore, as I know no one personally in the Association, I am unable to fill in the blank which says “Recommended by”… However, I have filled in all the other spaces, as required. From all I know of your attitude and your work, I believe that I accept and believe the teachings which have come through your readings. I have long been interested in Re-incarnation and the plan for Spiritual Evolution, and it is primarily to clarify my thinking on my relation to this plan, that I am writing to you, and becoming a member of the Association.

I have had for many years physical difficulties which keep me from being as WHOLE, and as efficient as I should be. I am therefore asking first, for a Physical Reading, to be followed by the other two when possible. Because of continued trouble of long standing, in the intestinal tract, causing very painful gas, and because of constant ringing in my head, and partial deafness in the left ear, I wish at the earliest possible time advice on the causes of these conditions, whether physical, psychological or spiritual, and suggestions for their cure. I understand that the first reading is $20 - and the other two, ten dollars each. I therefore enclose a check for forty dollars. If this amount is not correct please let me know. I shall also be interested to know the dates of your Annual Conference.
