This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Va. Beach, Va., this 17th day of January, 1944, in accordance with request made by the self - Mr. [3063], Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.
[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno (Notes read to and transcribed by Jeanette Fitch.) Harmon Bro.]
Time of reading In his office, 11:00 to 11:15 A. M. Eastern War Time. N.Y., N.Y.
-
GC: You will give the physical condition of this body at the present time, with suggestions for further corrective measures, answering the questions, as I ask them:
-
EC: Yes, we have the body here, [3063]; this we have had before. - (In undertone) The body is just leaving, going down in the elevator now.
-
As we find, there are improvements in the general physical forces of the body. Yet at times there is more specific disturbance to the limb (left) that has been giving disturbance. We find that this may be better corrected as osteopathic corrections are made when the hydrotherapy treatments are taken; giving more treatment to the front and secondary bursa in the feet, or foot, and then making that adjustment in the 1st and 2nd coccyx center.
-
These should be kept in better accord. We would take four or five treatments, then rest from these two or three weeks. If there is disturbance during this period, apply Glyco-Thymoline Packs over the hip and the area across to the left portion of the end of the spine, using over same heated salt - quilted in a pad, rather than using an electric pad.
-
We find there is the inclination for the body to go to sleep easily when attempting to read, which is an indication of toxic forces - that cause a change in the blood pressure when resting. We won’t have so much inclination to go to sleep, if the body when resting will rest with the feet almost as high as the head, or if lying down put them a little bit higher.
-
Also we should include in the diet the Jerusalem artichoke at least twice a week. However, this should be prepared only in Patapar paper, and mix the juices that come out in the paper with the bulk of the artichoke. For it is the juice that contains the properties most needed to act upon the pancreas and spleen activity of the body. Season with a little butter, a little salt and pepper if desired but not too much. This will change a great deal the ability for activity, if the other treatments suggested are kept up.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) Is the treatment being well applied? (A) As indicated, do treat the feet more, and the end of the spine, or the 1st and and from the end of the coccyx center.
-
(Q) Is a rest period indicated in between series of six or twelve treatments at the rate of one every five days? (A) As just indicated, have five to six treatments, then leave off for a period and then have another series.
-
We are through with this reading.

Reports & Follow-up
R1. GD’s note: Miss [3027] telephoned GD when the reading was received 1/20/44 in the mail, saying EC was correct about Mr. [3063] leaving his office, going down in the elevator; he was in such pain that he decided to go home; forgot about the appointment for the reading or else thought it was finished by that time.
R2. 11/22/44 [3063]‘s letter:

Miss Gladys Davis, Secretary Association for Research & Enlightenment, Inc. Virginia Beach, Virginia
Dear Miss Davis:
I am sending you herewith check drawn by the Bankers Trust Company to the order of the Association for Research & Enlightenment, Inc., for an amount of $1,100.00, which I am happy to send to the Association as a gift.
Of this amount I would be thankful that you should take
100.00 to pay for my membership fee. I remember that last year I sent100.00, and I received, during 1944, your bulletins, readings, etc., which interested me very much. These $100.00 I hope will cover my membership and subscriptions. The remaining $1000.00, as previously stated, is a gift to the Association, but I would like it to be understood that it is mainly at the disposal of Mr. Edgar Cayce, to be used in any way that he wishes - in the broadest understanding of the term.
You will notice that I am sending you a check of the Bankers Trust to the order of the Association. This was done so that you could cash the check immediately, if so desired by Mr. Cayce.
For tax purposes, I would be thankful if on receipt of this check you would be kind enough to establish a receipt, from the Association and in my name, for the $1,100.00, and send it back to me at my present address, …, New York City. The check being drawn by the Bankers Trust Company and not by me, I feel it necessary for me to ask you this service.
Thanking you, I remain
Yours very sincerely [3063] Encl.
R3. 11/27/44 Miss [3027]‘s letter: “Poor Mr. [3063] is again suffering from sciatica in both legs - since Thanksgiving. Hope it won’t be as bad as two years ago.”
R4. 12/15/44 Miss [3027]‘s letter: “Mr. [3063]‘s children were told it [the gift] was for you and they were so pleased to do something for the person who has helped their father so much.”
R5. 1/11/46 Letter: “When I read the book There Is a River and later had the privilege of meeting Mr. Cayce, and discussing occult matters with him, I felt towards Mr. Cayce a very deep sympathy, but I know also that my knowledge of spiritual matters was not sufficiently developed to form, to my satisfaction, a definite opinion on the decision to follow or not the Association for Research and Enlightenment. I have now come to the conclusion that I prefer to abstain from the activities of the Association…”
R6. Note by GD: Miss [3027], told GD that Mr. [3063]‘s reasons for discontinuing his connection was that he felt - they both felt it was wrong to seek information from another as people had done through EC - the guidance should come from within, etc.”
R7. 1/19/49 Letter: “The reason why I have not continued to follow the work of your association is that my understanding of spiritual matters would not permit me today to do so without being in full contradiction with my deep conviction.”
R8. 5/28/51 [3027]‘s report:
“Mr. [3063] died last September 15th after five months of increasing weakness and sufferings due to a coronary thrombosis he had in the first days of May. Fortunately I was able to be with him and to take care of him during all those painful months. He left us very peacefully during his sleep, and happily also had not had any paralysis and was mentally and spiritually very active to the end. Only his body was completely used up and I knew from the first that there was no hope of recovery. The last five years were gradually leading to this and although he was only 63 years old. You knew him and so you know the emptiness I find in my life now…”
