GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body; answering the questions, as I ask them:
-
EC: Yes - these are very aggravating conditions that we find existent. But to interfere with present administrations would be only to cause aggravations, and disputations that would become rather disagreeable.
-
As we find, however, these suggestions we would give to those responsible for the body, and insist that considerations be given by those making administrations for the body as to the principles of diet. Do consider the effect as may be created by the use, here, of considerable quantities taken internally of Water Cress, as well as a tea made from the Mullein Seed or Blossom.
-
These taken in moderation, but consistently, will ALLAY this irritation.
-
Do consider the formula that is prepared for such skin irritations, known as Lenore’s Eczema Remedy. To be sure, the amount of acetanylide in this prescription would be rather severe for this particular body, but with the taking of the properties internally as indicated, and the reducing of this by adding pure distilled water to make the Lenore’s Eczema Remedy about one-half its normal strength, we find that it will be beneficial.
-
Do that.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) When the body is removed from the hospital, what would be suggested to get rid of the eczema? (A) As indicated, these properties indicated will gradually get rid of it. For we must, of course, purify the system. It is understood that the body is allergic to certain things. But the taking of these properties in the system as suggested, while still under the care here, the matter of the diet can be controlled by the tests.
Do that, and then apply the diluted eczema remedy as indicated, and we should find improvements for this body.
The Mullein Tea would be prepared by pouring four ounces of boiling water on about two drams of the Mullein flower (which is in flower at the present time in most sections where it grows) and allowing to steep as regular tea. Then keep this in the ice box, and give about a teaspoonful of this daily, or even twice daily would be well. Use distilled water in preparing this, and let it steep in a crock or glass container, - or enamel; not aluminum or any other metals. Prepare this fresh every few days, you see.
The Water Cress should be taken daily, whether this is the canned or the fresh does not matter - it will have the same effect. Take a teaspoonful of this two or three times daily, or according to the reaction noted.
-
(Q) What is the cause of the condition - what produced it? (A) This is partly an allergic condition which existed through the periods of gestation. And the inflammation, as will be found, comes rather from the incoordination between sympathetic and cerebrospinal system at certain centers, which - as the condition begins to clear - will necessarily have to be corrected osteopathically; 9th dorsal, 4th lumbar, 4th dorsal, 3rd cervical.

We are through for the present.

Reports & Follow-up
R1. 8/7/43 Letter from mother:
I have been very stricken of the conscience since receiving the report of [3067]‘s Physical Reading, that I haven’t acknowledged same and also thanked you for your goodness in “getting him in” long before his normal turn would come.
My husband and I were more than amazed at your diagnosis of the origin of the eczema, and as the child is very definitely worse when upset, it stands to reason that it has some logical basis in nerves. I wonder if you have found any other eczema cases having roots in incoordination of nervous system during gestation. There seem to be so many babies and small children bothered with it to more or less degree. We have been told also that with a case as severe as [3067]‘s asthma is usually close upon the heels of the skin trouble. But no doctor, - and we have seen many - the latest the biggest allergy man in the country, - will ever offer a clue as to the reason WHY, or even what to do to alleviate the awful itch.
We brought [3067] home from the hospital two and a half weeks ago - or rather, we brought him down here to the shore to build him up a bit. I can’t remember whether or not I told you his tonsils had been removed - as a matter of fact they were out at the time of the reading - and were found to be very diseased. He was most awfully thin and pale at the end of his 4 wks. in the hospital & he’s a good deal plumper now. I began the watercress and mullein tea treatment but have yet to get hold of any Lenore’s Eczema Remedy. I combed pharmacies for it and having no success I finally wrote to Cawthon-Coleman Co. & they are sending us some bottles; so as soon as we can get the whole thing going at once I’ll give you a real report.
About the osteopathic treatment, do you know any good osteopath in N.Y.C. who would cooperate with your suggested treatment for the coordination of his disjointed nervous system. We know of a Dr. Strong who is supposedly very good indeed and I wondered if you knew at all of him.
I do want to express my great interest in the July report of the Ass’n & particularly for the prayer at the end. I have found it more than inspiring and helpful these past weeks.
Many thanks again for your kindness and Mrs. Cayce’s.
Most sincerely,
R2. 8/14/43 EC’s letter to [3067]‘s mother:
Mrs. […] …, N.J.
Dear Mrs. […]
Thank you for yours of the seventh and the report on [3067]‘s condition. I think if you would see Dr. George N. Coulter, 18 East 41st St., N.Y.C., I believe you would find someone who will cooperate with you on the information. We have had a few cases through the years where some such condition was described, in fact, some of those who, years ago, were preparing the remedy called the Lenore’s Eczema Remedy had such a condition in his home and the reading helped and from it grew this remedy. But please understand that the product is not a remedy of the reading, but merely verifying this druggist’s work or what he had been working on.
Know that we will be very anxious to hear from [3067] from time to time. Thanking you, I am,
Sincerely, Edgar Cayce
R3. 7/18/44 Mother’s letter:
Dear Mr. Cayce -
I have read with great interest the monthly bulletins of the Association and have derived great aid from them. This note comes to you to order several of the pamphlets mentioned in the enclosure which came with the July Bulletin - but I did want to add my thanks & gratitude to you for your Reading for [3067]. A year ago, to be sure I did send a note at that time but he was then still a very ill little boy. Right now he is out riding on his tricycle having a wonderful time. It is so miraculous a thing to me to see him PLAYING instead of clawing his flesh off to the bleeding stage.
Would you please send the following booklets…

B1. 6/13/43 Letter from mother, […]: “Certainly have not forgotten for a moment our talk and have wished again and again I might have learned of the wonderful work you are doing in the earlier days of my stay at the Essex House with [3067].
“The very day of our talk I wrote to my husband at great length and he at once ordered a copy of THERE IS A RIVER which only reached us the day before yesterday; thus it has not been completely read as yet, but we are both very anxious to apply for a Rdg.
“[3067] for the past year and three quarters has suffered from an allergy condition of some sort which manifests itself in an increasingly persistent eczema with all attendant itching, uncontrollable scratching, and occasional boils. So far medical advice and dietary experiments have availed nothing - we know neither what causes the eruptions which cover his body from head to foot, nor ANYTHING to even temporarily relieve the itching. We are both convinced there must be some maladjustment which once known could be corrected, thus relieving him of constant physical distress, which naturally has had its effects upon his nervous system.”
B2. 6/25/43 “They have removed his tonsils which were found to be very infected and he has shown great strides since then. He is now, with the rest of the 8th floor, in quarantine for measles which some child got, so no one can go to see him… Await Tuesday with great anticipation.”
