-
GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time, giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body; answering the questions, as I ask them:
-
EC: Yes, we have the body here, [3075].
-
As we find, the conditions that disturb this body are as much of a psychological nature as of a pathological nature.
-
Pathologically, these would have to do with conditions which existed during the period of gestation.
-
Psychologically, these have to do with the karma of this body, and those responsible for the physical body.
-
Hence we have here conditions that at times approach near to that of possession of the mind by external influences, or that very close to the spiritual possession by disincarnate forces.
-
To be sure, these interpretations would not be accepted by some as an explanation. And yet there will come those days when many will understand and interpret properly.
-
As we find from here, these are the pathological reactions:
-
Owing to those conditions which existed in the manner in which coordination is established in the physical reactions between impressions received through sensory system and the reaction upon the reflexes of brain, we find these at times become very much disassociated. And those impressions received sympathetically, or through vision, through hearing, through sensing by impressions, become the motivative force in the reaction.
-
At such times possession near takes place.
-
With the capsule of the inner brain itself, these cause the distortions, the associations with not the normal reflexes but with the impressions received in the suggestive forces.
-
Hence, as we find, with patience these may be materially aided.
-
Then, these would be the manners:
-
Select some good hypnotist, such as Garrett or Kuhn, or both, and have the body put under those influences.
-
When aroused from this subjection of the subconscious to control, by the performing of such impressions, use the low electrical forces to change vibrations through the body. The hand machine violet ray should be sufficient. Apply the bulb applicator of this principally to the 9th dorsal, 3rd cervical, and the base of the brain. Not too long a period, just sufficient to disassociate the flexes as would nominally come as there is the regaining of the NORMAL reactions of the body.
-
Follow this with a gentle massage, that stimulates or relaxes by the stimulation of each of the ganglia along the cerebrospinal system; more specifically in the areas where the cerebrospinal and sympathetic coordinate - in the larger forms of the ganglia. These we find in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd cervical, 1st, 2nd and 3rd dorsal, 9th dorsal, and in the lumbar axis and coccyx center.
-
These as we find offer the greater opportunities for bringing to this body the reactions that may eliminate those disturbances with this body.
-
The character of the flexes will depend much upon the type of suggestion that will be made while under the influence of another mind. We find that the body WILL respond, and it may be directed into any of those channels that may aid the body in becoming a useful, dependable citizen, and in helpful influence with others.
-
The body should be trained in those activities that deal closest with nature, but away from animals - not associated with animals.
-
Grain, grain development, trucking of such; fruit and small fruits, vegetables, - these are the character of activities. These, because they may appear lowly, will find for the body the real activities for helpfulness - if directed in those channels.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) Advise regarding the type suggestion the hypnotist should use. (A) This should be constructive, but directed towards controlling his own emotions.
-
(Q) How long should the violet ray be used at a time? (A) Not over three minutes, and this should be divided equally on the centers indicated.
-
(Q) How often should the massage be given? (A) The hypnotist’s treatment should be at least two or three times a week. The violet ray and the massage should follow each of these treatments.
-
(Q) What can his mother do to help him get well? (A) See that he gets these treatments suggested!
-
(Q) Would the complete lack of girls, which he talks about often, have any bearing on his condition? (A) This may be gathered especially from the suggestions indicated, and by the suggestions in relationships to such, as may be made by those controlling the body-mind.
-
(Q) In what locality would it be best for him to live? (A) During the first two or three months of the treatments, necessarily the body should be close to those administering the treatments. Otherwise, or later, it should be close to the soil, and that necessarily would be away from cities.
-
(Q) Should the massage be osteopathic, or could it be given by someone other than an osteopath? (A) Anyone that understands the anatomical structure of the body, in knowing how to coordinate the sympathetic and cerebrospinal systems in the areas indicated. These are not merely to be punched or pressed, but the ganglia - while very small - are as networks in these various areas. Hence a gentle, circular massage, is needed; using only at times structural portions as leverages, but not ever - of course - bruising structure.
-
(Q) Who would you advise to give these messages? (A) These must be the choices by those making the administrations, and by those that are responsible for the body.
-
We are through for the present.
Two copies to Mother (one to be given to the hypnotist who is to administer the suggestions outlined) Copy to Ass’n file (GD’s notes at time of reading: Mr. David E. Kahn, who was present at this Reading, said tell you he would be glad to get in touch with the hypnotist for you, as he has had considerable experience - having witnessed a couple of cases that have been referred to these hypnotists through the Readings.
Dr. Thomas Garrett, and Dr. [Leslie] Kuhn, are psychiatrists, that can be reached at 830 Park Avenue, Cor. 76th St., NYC., or at 103 Park Ave., office from which the magazine YOUR MIND is published.)

B1. 4/21/43 Mother’s letter: “I have just heard from a dear friend of mine, a Mrs. […], what a wonderful thing you have done for her son [2963]. I am praying that you can do something for my son.
My son is now 23 yrs. old. When he was 13 he took sick. He couldn’t sleep and went completely to pieces, mentally. He seemed to have hallucinations, couldn’t stop singing. Our doctor advised sending him to a private sanitarium, which we did. He was there over a year. He improved, but shortly after that he had a relapse, and now for at least twice a year since he was 13 these attacks have come on. He has been up at a farm in Vermont for 2 yrs. doing farm work when he was normal.
He was taken ill Sunday and I was forced to send him to a hospital again. He seems to have a great wave of depression, at the present time. I forgot to mention this boy is a twin. His brother is in the Marine Air Corps. at … They were born within 20 minutes of each other. We have had [3075] x-rayed from head to foot, and they show nothing. I feel there must be some cause for this. Could you please help me?
- What treatment would you advise? 1 1/2. What causes these attacks? Is it mental or physical? 2. What kind of a life should he have? 2 1/2. What kind of work is he fitted to do?
- What activity would you advise for him in his well periods? 4. Would the complete lack of girls, which he talks about often, have any bearing on his condition? 5. What can his mother do to help him get well?
I know you have many, many requests, but I feel this is urgent. However, I have lots of patience and every faith that God through you will find and show me the way to have my son be a fine, normal American citizen.
My son’s name is [3075]. He was born [3075]. I thought perhaps changing his name would help him regain his health. I did that five years ago. I have stopped at nothing, praying and trying.
My son is now at MacLean Hospital, Waverly, Mass.
This year I was re-married. This boy is very fond of my husband.”
B2. 6/3/43 Mother’s letter: “Before he had this last attack, which was about 5 wks. ago, he was on night watch in …, Vermont, spotting airplanes. He imagined he missed some and that the F.B.I. were after him. No one could convince him otherwise. He carried on so terribly we had to send him to the McLean Hospital in Waverly, Mass. He finally decided if the F.B.I. were after him they would have found him after a week, and seems to have quieted down and regained his health and state of mind.
My son is 24 yrs. old and has never been in the company of women.
[3075] is going back to … Ranch, Cuttingsville, Vt., tomorrow, as he was dismissed from the hospital. He doesn’t care to return to … Ranch.
I will arrange to have him near the phone at the farm (… Ranch, …, Vt.) July 2nd from 10:30 to 11:30 A.M.
Praying that you will be of great help to his future condition, I am”
Very sincerely yours, his mother, […]
