This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 12th day of November, 1943, in accordance with request made by the mother - Mrs. [585], Active Member of the Ass”n for Research and Enlightenment, Inc.

Infirmary at William Time of Reading and Mary College, 11:30 to 11:35 A. M. Eastern War Time. Williamsburg, Va. (The following came [being volunteered] at the end of three other Readings, without suggestion.)

1. EC: Now we have those conditions that exist with [308]. [GD’s note: In undertone here EC said - “Charlottesville - Williamsburg.”] These are bruises, though the structural portions also are bruised.

2. Apply Glyco-Thymoline Packs in those areas, as on hips and the spine, as well as in the 3rd cervical center. Then apply heat, not with an electric pad but with heavy salt heated in pads or bags. This will remove the strain as well as alkalize the drainages that must necessarily be set up by the use at this particular time of a senna base laxative, such as Dr. Caldwell’s Syrup of Pepsin. This would be good for the body.

3. Keep the Glyco-Thymoline Packs. Change them about every three to four hours. Keep them on for about the same length of time and then leave off, but next day use them again - until this soreness disappears.

4. After tomorrow, begin to set up drainages by massage. This means the fourteenth, you see. After tomorrow begin with the massage. Yes, this is the twelfth - we haven’t made a mistake!

5. We are through.

R1. 5/23/52 Mother’s report:

“My daughter, [308], was trying to get in bed - the top side of a double decker, at William & Mary College. She slipped on the chair and hit the end of her spine. By the next morning she couldn’t get out of bed and was taken to the infirmary. Her room mate called me about 10 A.M., on 11/12/43. I then received a call from the doctor at the infirmary and he wanted to know if I wanted some x-rays made; I told him I would let him know. Then I phoned Mr. Cayce’s home and talked with Harmon Bro, who explained that so many rdgs. were scheduled that he didn’t think [308]‘s could be gotten in today - it was too late to mention it to Mr. Cayce since he had already started the ck. physical rdgs. for the morning, but he would tell him later.

“I was so confused that I prayed constantly for guidance. At 9 P.M. that night I phoned Gladys and asked her how long she thought it would be before a ck. rdg. could be gotten. She said, ‘We got it - it came through at the end of the other rdgs., without the suggestion being given to obtain it!’

“Gladys told me that at first the rdg. said ‘[308] - Charlottesville’ [this being where I was at the time] - and then ‘[308] - Williamsburg’ [where my daughter was in the infirmary, at school]. Evidently my anxiety in Charlottesville had gotten through to him.

“I had a very hard time getting her out of school so that I could follow the rdg., but finally succeeded. She was most uncomfortable coming into Norfolk, but the rdg. had said to give these treatments and of course I could not give them at the infirmary. They were not doing anything for her - just keeping her quiet, and she was getting stiffer all the time.

“When we got to Norfolk I took her to the home of my friend, Mrs. [413], who helped me with the treatments. I took her from school on Sat. the 13th, so it was the 14th before we could start the treatments. We followed the treatments for three days and she returned to school. She has never had any trouble since.”

GC was starting to give the suggestion for EC to wake up when he volunteered the rdg. for Miss [308]. Later we were told by Harmon Bro that he had been on the phone talking with Miss [308]‘s mother, Mrs. [585], in Charlottesville, who was much upset because she feared a spinal injury, since Miss [308] fell out of a double decker bed yesterday and was in the infirmary at William and Mary College, in Williamsburg. [See 308-12, Par. R1.]
