This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 29th day of August, 1934, in accordance with request made by the mother - Mrs. [585], Active Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.
[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno. Mildred Davis.]
Time of Reading 11:25 to 11:40 A. M. Eastern Standard Time …, Virginia. (Physical Suggestion)
-
EC: Yes, we have those impressions of the body here, [308]; these we have had before.
-
In the main we find conditions show much improvement from that we have had before. Still there is incoordination in the assimilating and digestive forces, and this irritates the sympathetic nerve supply.
-
As we would find in the present, the better benefits would accrue to the body from following an altered outline - as follows:
-
First we would have the thorough eliminations through the alimentary canal; which may be the better effected through taking three to five doses of Simmons Liver Regulator - a teaspoonful night and morning for two days and a half.
-
After this has begun to act, then we would use small doses of Fletcher’s Castoria; which will stir the liver and its activity, the secretions throughout the alimentary canal, to a much better response, and eliminate much of that which has caused and does cause the irritation to the nerve system.
-
We find too, that for the alignments in the cerebrospinal system, it would be well for the body to have a thorough massage at least two or three times each week, when it is ready for retiring in the evening. At such periods it would be well for the body to be massaged along the cerebrospinal system, along the limbs and even to the extremities, with a compound prepared in this proportion, though it may be dou- bled or havled (this AFTER the thorough massage, you see, should be rubbed in - what the body will absorb):
-
To 4 ounces of Russian White Oil, Usoline or Nujol, add:
Witchhazel…2 ounces, Tincture of Benzoin…1 ounce, Rectified Oil of Turp…1/2 ounce, Oil of Sassafras…10 minims.
-
These will tend to separate, and necessitate that they be shaken together thoroughly before a small quantity would be poured into a saucer or open container for using to massage from the base of the brain toward the end of the spine; massaging the limbs and the feet also with same. Also it would be well for the body to be massaged across the abdomen and the lower portion of the stomach proper, and especially over the liver and caecum area.
-
Do this, being mindful of the diet - which, after this elimination, should be as follows:
-
Mornings - either fresh fruits or melon or dry cereal, or the citrus fruitjuices, but do not mix ANY of these together. With the fruit may be taken a little crisp bacon and a coddled or poached egg, but no fried eggs.
-
Noons - rather the green, fresh, raw vegetables, even when there are the activities in school let the lunch be rather of the lettuce and tomato sandwich, but as much of the green, fresh, raw vegetables as may be eaten. Such as lettuce, celery, carrots, tomatoes, peppers, beans, radishes, radish tops, turnips, turnip tops, and ESPECIALLY onions - preferably, though, the onions would be eaten before retiring at night. This, as we find, will overcome those tendencies for the activities of the kidneys, and adjust same better.
-
Evenings - either liver (as meats), fish, tripe, pigs’ feet and ears, souse or the like, and green vegetables that are well-cooked. And each evening let a portion of the meal be of BOILED onions, that are boiled in their OWN juices; not in water. Those eaten before retiring preferably should be raw; not large quantities, but small quantities, for these carry a vitamin and the elements necessary for the dilation of not only the pulmonary activity but for the juices - gastric juices of the stomach and assimilating forces of the body.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) Has she any worms in her system now? (A) Not as we find. Only pinworms, or small. We will eradicate these with onions. They’ll scare ‘em away!
-
(Q) Is her appendix alright? (A) Appendix alright. The soreness in the area is produced rather from those pressures in the 7th and 8th dorsal, which will be overcome in the corrected eliminations through such measures as indicated, and then the diet and the massages.
-
(Q) What is the condition of her tonsils? (A) Natural condition from a poor or stagnated circulation.
-
(Q) Anything wrong with her kidneys now? (A) Nothing wrong with the kidneys; only pressures, as indicated, from that in the appendicial area - as indicated, 7th and 8th dorsal.
-
(Q) Will following this treatment prevent bed wetting? (A) This may be accomplished best by the suggestion in this direction as the body is almost asleep, by the one who makes the application of the massage and rubs. POSITIVE suggestion! Not that she WON’T do, but that she WILL do this or that, see? that when the desire is for the activity the body will arouse and attend to same!
-
(Q) Was she injured in any way when she was knocked unconscious on the pavement early part of summer? (A) As indicated in the dorsal areas, which will be overcome by strengthening through the rubs - and the diet.
-
(Q) What should be done about foul breath? (A) This is being applied.
-
(Q) Could the mother give the massages? (A) The mother could give the massages and, as indicated, should be the one to give the suggestion.
-
(Q) Any other advice regarding this body? (A) We would follow these rather closely. First CLEANSE the system, you see; then after the system is cleansed begin with the rubs and the diet. These should correct the conditions.
-
(Q) Can anything be done to make her hair curl again like it did when she was a baby? (A) The diet, and those external applications may be made. These are natural conditions. Each body should rather prefer to be natural than using any make-up; for when individuals do this it bespeaks of their dislike of that the Maker made them!

Reports
Reports & Follow-up
R1. 7/15/36 Mother obtained Life Rdg. for her, 308-3.
R2. 8/31/37 Mother obtained 308-4 for her, for painful and irregular menstruation.
R3. 6/14/38 Mother’s reply to questionnaire: “The reading 308-2 covered her condition in every detail.
“I had told her to stay in the house because she was going to have a ck. rdg. So she took her Bible upstairs to her room and started reading John - ‘Let not your heart be troubled’ - a part of the Scripture that she loved. She came to me about eleven o’clock and asked if she could go out in the yard, and I, thinking the reading was over, told her yes. When I got the copy of the reading I was surprised to find that the reading had been gotten after she had left her room. No doubt that is why Mr. Cayce said, ‘Yes, we have those impressions of the body here.’
“I watched for the pinworms, but never did see any. I did use suggestion on her for the bedwetting and in no time at all this condition was cleared. I remember that in giving her the suggestion, while she was falling asleep, she would answer me, even when I thought she was fast asleep.
“She did eat lots of onions, cabbage, etc., and I am confident that this cleared the condition, even though I couldn’t see the worms in the fecal matter.”
R4. 2/16/76 Report by A.R.E. Member:
“I have two children, ages ten and six. They both have bed-wetting problems.
“I was also a bed wetter until my late teens and remember how embarrassing it was to be a bed wetter.
“Mr. Cayce’s suggestion method was being applied unknowingly by me. The difference being, I would make the suggestion BEFORE the children went to sleep. I have begun Mr. Cayce’s method of suggestion and look forward to the results…”
R5. 8/31/76 Robert O. Clapp, Director Membership, A.R.E.’s letter to above A.R.E. Member:
”…Six months ago you wrote to us that you had begun using suggestion with your children to help them curb their bed-wetting problem. Now that sufficient time has passed, I wonder if you’d be kind enough to write to us again indicating what results you’ve had. Do let us hear from you with an update of your situation, whether it’s favorable or not. I’ll look forward to your reply…”
R6. 9/9/76 Her reply: ”…In reply to your letter dated August 31, 1976, since applying the suggestion technique on my children, ages now eleven and seven, there has been an improvement with both, wetting the bed.
“The bed-wetting is not completely arrested, but I am continuing the technique for I know the children are improving.
“I offered the suggestion method to a friend. She refused to apply it, stating nothing worked…”
