Born March 6, 1871, in Whitehall, Michigan, Muskegon County. Time of Reading 11:25 to 11:45 A. M. Eastern War Time. …, Michigan.

1. GC: You will give the relationships of this entity and the universe, and the universal forces; giving the conditions which are as personalities, latent and exhibited in the present life; also the former appearances in the earth plane, giving time, place and the name, and that in each life which built or retarded the development for the entity; giving the abilities of the present entity, that to which it may attain, and how. You will answer the questions, as I ask them:

3. Yes, we have the records here of that entity now known as or called [3091].

4. In giving an interpretation of the records as we find them here, - the seal for the entity would be a very interesting one.

5. This would be a calla lily, white - with the green foliage, the pistil - of course - yellow or gold. And on the upper side would be a green scarab, but to the left; while on the right would be the Cross - in gold. Just enough shading across the bottom. This would not be in a vase, but sufficient shading to balance the drawing.

6. As we find, this may be interpreted in the experiences that we will indicate, as to the activities of the entity through the earth’s plane.

7. In giving an interpretation of the records of this entity, these we would choose - with the desire and purpose that this may be a helpful experience, as well as an assurance for the entity; enabling the entity to better fulfil those purposes for which it entered this present sojourn.

8. As indicated, the entity’s life has been full. Not that the entity has not had its ups and downs, and sometimes - apparently to others - more downs than ups, and yet the entity with a thought and purpose has kept its own counsel oft, when there might have been help, if intimation had been made that it was desired.

9. The entity has found differences with most of those with whom it has been associated, and at times these have been those rather close in the home. Most individuals have found the entity’s intuitive forces worth much more than the intellectual knowledge.

10. This entity’s ideals and purposes are indicated in the birth sign of the entity, also in the seal - as to the lily, and green as the healing forces for the entity’s urge in its relationships to others.

11. For, oft has the entity been called to witness, not only as a peacemaker but as one to verify those experiences of others. This has at times brought some confusion, but more oft in the experience of others than in the entity itself.

12. For the entity, as it has kept its ideal, has been and is very sure within itself.

13. Thus we find, with Pisces, Mercury, Venus, Jupiter and Saturn as influences in the experience; with Mars at variance at times.

14. High mental abilities are indicted, then; appreciation of beauty and the ability of intuitive forces within self are indicated, as well as the universal consciousness for the common good of all.

15. And these have been the basis or principles where differences have arisen at times.

16. In Saturn we find the sudden changes, the differences and indifferences that have appeared in the experience.

17. We find in Mars not only the activity of those that would oppose, but also the activity of the entity in indicating within self - as well as, usually to others - the sincerity of purpose of the entity.

18. As to the appearances in the earth, - all may not be given, yet these are indicated as a part of the experience for the entity.

19. Before this the entity was in the land of the present activity during the early settlings, about that area now known as Toledo.

20. There the entity was active during the early pioneer days, among those that made for purposes and ideals. In the early period the entity acted as an instructress to the varied groups, sometimes called a teacher.

21. The name then was Charlot Shandlen. The entity gained through the application of those tenets gained before that, as may be seen in the whiteness or velvet whiteness of the lily, with a background of a dark purple.

22. In the present experience these come as those judgments of the entity, though oft considered by others as passing judgement without knowledge. But the intuitive forces have aided or directed in same.

23. Before that the entity was in the Holy Land, though the entity was a visitor there from the northern and eastern lands.

24. Those experiences brought the ability as the searcher, as the mother to many that were less fortunate in the activities of that established as the Church.

25. The entity did not come in personal contact with the Master in the earth, but with those closely associated with Him - especially Luke, Paul, Barnabas, John, and Lucius, in the activities in the church at Laodicea.

26. There the entity was among those who comforted those that were disturbed, and especially the young.

27. The entity has an interest, then, in children, and the unfortunate - especially from indifference on the part of others.

28. This again indicates that attained in the Cross of gold, in the right side of the drawing illustrating the Life’s seal.

29. In the present experience hold fast to those tenets of the truth, the light, the hope in Him. Though it may arise even from the muck, as the lily indicates, it in its beauty is clothed as with the glory of the Father Himself.

30. Before that the entity was in the Egyptian land, during those periods of activity in the first establishing of the healing in the Temple of Sacrifice.

31. Hence we find the entity willing in sacrifice, even of personal problems, even of personal experiences, even of personal differences; yet knowing, feeling, requiring that there be an active force. Hence the scarab in the seal indicates the activities from the Egyptian experience.

32. Hence as a ministering hand, in word, in person, the entity may yet contribute to the means and the welfare of those who need direction.

33. The name then was It-Iel.

34. As to the abilities of the entity in the present, that to which it may attain, and how:

35. First analyze self, self’s ideals, self’s purposes. Know thy ideal, in spiritual, in mental, in material things.

36. Then study to show thyself approved in thine OWN way or manner, keeping self unspotted from the condemnation of self or of others.

37. Keep the faith.

38. In the abilities, - ministrations by person, in activities, by word, in helpfulness as of precept. These are the channels. For, he that is the greatest will be the servant of all.

My Dear Mr. Cayce -

I have my life reading and find it very interesting. If I wrote all I would like to say you would think me a garrulous old woman.

The SEAL surprised me. A gifted friend who has sat with us has told me more than once of a beautiful calla lily brought me - sometimes laid in my lap - gorgeous, UNEARTHLY, - she said - in its beauty!

The mention of Saturn, too, agrees with what Evangeline Adams told me. It was about to rise when I was born and would discipline me all my life. She also said as the reading does that Mars was situated so that partnerships of all kinds were difficult and cautioned me as to relations by marriage. The reading says THE HOME. My home for years was full of relations by marriage and my best efforts failed to keep relations always cordial.

For nearly thirty years I have worked with young children in elementary schools and the library. - as the reading would suggest.

And as a pioneer I may add that I was among the first children born in my locality.

I was so interested in Laodicea that I looked it up - an early metropolis across the water from Athens, - eighty odd miles from the present Smyrna. I WOULD go there as a visitor!

I had hopes for a hint of myself during the middle ages, but there evidently is a good reason for no mention. Maybe I was a German!

My sister [5231] would like a reading if you can make an appointment. She has got farther than I have in psychic study. I should KNOW nothing about these things if she had not had experiences. I will send a draft if you can give her a reading.

Dear Mrs. [3091]

Thank you for yours of the eighteenth. I believe that you are, like most people, finding more and more interest in your reading as you studied it over. Many people who have had such readings, even a year after, would almost declare that there [are] things that had never been there before which merely unfolded to them. It is quite interesting what you say about the seal. It is not everyone who receives things like this in their Life Readings. Then too, that it agrees with things that were told you by Miss Adams is very interesting. So much of it seems to check up, I am sure that you must find it very interesting.

The first open appointment that we could possibly make for your sister is February 3, 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Will you please ask her to write us direct and let us know if this time is satisfactory? We are enclosing an application blank to have her fill out. I appreciate very much your interest, and in interesting others. It is quite interesting what you tell me about Miss Sheridan and my sister when they were in Washington. That must have been many years ago. • meet and exchange ideas, seem to be associated with me, sometimes in cycles, sometimes one introduces another into the particular phase, - opens a new vista.

The one particular value to me of the idea of reincarnation, besides the composure it lends the spirit, facing the closing of the present one - is the steadying belief in continuity - another chance - with factors of our own forging, - and right there is where the force of the ideas gathers. I do not FEEL that I have met my friends in previous lives, but I do marvel at the significant events which often happen so seemingly casually, as if we pay a debt, or collect a credit.

We are so sorry, my sister [5231] and I, that we so fumbled these papers - and each filled out the others. We are elderly, and don’t see too well.

I realize I had a life work to do, but my lines have lain in quiet and private places - I have lived a rather laborious life, always harassed in financial ways, but keeping solvent and managing to make myself a home to which various friends repair, not for material reasons, but for peace and encouragement. So, I would ask direction along such lines - and, shall I be able to maintain myself to the end, without asking help from those near…however willingly they offer. I suppose there is pride back of such interest - perhaps vanity - but surely we should aspire to being able to stand on our own feet both spiritually and materially. We are not of much use to others until we can. Life has given me some hard lessons to do, but I hope I can still learn! So, I do not put my questions in words - but they are along this line. I shall understand if it is pointed out to me that my disappointments and sorrows have been of my own making. I hope I have also, as the orientals say, ‘acquired some merit.’”
