This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 14th day of July, 1943, in accordance with request made by the husband - Dr. […], new Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research and Enlightenment, Inc., recommended by the book, THERE IS A RIVER.

Neurological Institute Time of Reading 168th St. & Ft. 3:40 to 3:50 P. M. Eastern War Time. Wadsworth Ave., N.Y.C., N.Y.

1. GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body; answering the questions, as I ask them:

2. EC: Now as we find, while conditions are rather serious, and may be more serious unless there are different measures taken, it would not be well to interfere with that being administered - under the present conditions.

3. We find that these would be more beneficial to the body if there were added the very low vibrations of electrical forces carrying vibratorially the Spirits of Camphor for the nerves; that there be not the inflammation causing those accumulations of lymph through the superficial and internal parts of the body.

4. But necessarily these conditions cause anxieties, and these measures may only be taken under the directions of those maintaining the experiences for the body in the present.

5. Though this addition can be made to the present treatment and be beneficial, we wouldn’t interfere with those administrations that are given here.

6. We refer to the use of the Wet Cell Appliance, carrying the commercial strength Spirits of Camphor.

7. A double-strength charge should be used, and the attachments would be made once each day for thirty minutes.

8. The attachments would be made as follows:

9. The larger nickel plate, through which the Camphor Solution passes vibratorially, would be attached to the umbilicus plexus. And the smaller copper plate would be attached to the 9th dorsal.

10. These, we see, would work with the assimilating forces of the body and bring better conditions, and keep down those tendencies for this accumulation.

11. (Q) How did this illness originate? (A) The breaking down of the assimilating forces, in the glandular forces of the body.

12. (Q) How can recurrent spasms of leg pains be prevented or retarded? (A) Well, these are all combined with these conditions.

We would give these administrations when there are the betterments in the body from the hospital, if there is betterment.

13. (Q) What will relieve the intense desire to urinate frequently? (A) Do those things as indicated - these are being done as a part of the administrations for the body, see?

R1. 10/11/43 Husband’s letter to EC:

“On July 14th, you gave a reading for my wife, [3093], who was at the time at the Neurological Hospital in New York City. You prescribed the use of a Wet Cell Appliance. This Appliance was made by Mr. Godfrey, and I started using it on July 29th. Improvement in bodily functions and general tone of the patient started the same day. Pains in the limbs however, continued and it was necessary to continue using drugs to relieve these pains.

“The Appliance was used for about two months, then discontinued for a week, then again used for a week. No further improvement has resulted, and so I am now discontinuing the use of the same.

“In the past ten days, a friend of mine, a physician, who has made a hobby of hypnotism, has tried this on her. The improvement has been remarkable in that for the first time, I have not had to give her drugs for the relief of pain in all this time.

“Would it be possible for you to give her another reading within the next few weeks? If so, I will be glad to send another fee to your Association…”

R2. 10/15/43 EC’s letter to Husband:

“I have yours of the 11th. I am glad to hear from you and hope that we may be of a help for your wife in the Check reading.

“However, the first open period we have even for a Check reading is the morning of February 18, 10:30 to 11:30. If this is [not?] too far off, we will be glad to undertake it for you.

“What you told me about the hypnotist is quite interesting. If you are not using the Appliance anymore; maybe it would be best to keep it until you had your check-up, though, but I am sure Mr. Godfrey would like to have it back. You can sell it to him for almost what you paid for it.

“I am to talk at the Psychology Forum, November 9, and I hope to see you there.

“Let me know if you wish to reserve this appointment for her…”

B1. 4/6/43 and 4/28/43 Letter from husband, Dr. […], dentist to EC: “I am enclosing application of my wife together with check of $20.00.

“My wife is suffering from multiple sclerosis. Both feet are paralyzed, the left foot being super-sensitive to the slightest touch, and subject to daily spasms of sharp pain. Eyesight is affected, double vision and the vision vague and cloudy. Intense desire to urinate frequently, but urination often extremely difficult. Patient at present is deteriorating very rapidly. Lifting power of hands is waning.

“Can you determine in your readings how this illness originated and what possible course to follow for a cure, or for alleviation of the ailment; how to prevent the recurrent spasms of leg pains, and relief of the intense desire to urinate frequently?

“As the patient is in daily pain, can you advance your reading date? Any advice you can offer will be deeply appreciated…

“Doctors report they know of no treatment to retard the progress of the disease.”
