This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 29th day of December, 1939, in accordance with request made by the self through husband, Mr. [228], Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.
[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno.]
Time of Reading 10:55 to 11:00 A. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, Alabama.

GC: You will give the physical condition of this body at the present time, with suggestions for further corrective measures; answering the questions, as I ask them:
-
EC: Yes.
-
Here we have acute conditions arising from a congestion through the colon area.
-
And with the application of so much heat there has been brought on those irritations through the activity of the organs of the pelvis; producing a strain upon the general system.
-
Thus a spasmodic condition or reaction has been caused through the womb, as well as the ovarian area also.
-
As we find, first, in the present:
-
We would apply a combination of three parts Laudanum to one part Aconite over the areas where there is pain; that is, the right ovarian area, the ascending colon area and portions of the transverse colon, especially on the right side. Paint the area with a small brush, camels’ hair preferably. Then apply hot Castor Oil Packs. Wring at least three or four thicknesses of flannel out of the warm Oil, - not so hot as to produce too great an amount of heat through the area, but warm. Apply such a Pack about every hour, - taking it off, re-painting, and then applying again, until a little bit easy; that is, until there is not such acute pain.
-
Then take a high colonic irrigation, using the colon tube. To each quart of water, body-temperature, put a heaping teaspoonful of table salt and a level teaspoonful of baking soda - well dissolved. This would be better taken with the body upon hands (or elbows) and knees, see? and gradually, as it is given, work the abdominal area from the caecum side ACROSS the body; gently, but sufficient of this so we may remove the impactions there.
-
If on the morrow, or the next day, there is a continuing or a return of temperature, the body should then go to hospitalization for greater consideration of these conditions; but these applications as indicated should reduce the conditions, so that it may be handled by themselves.
-
Do that - IMMEDIATELY!
-
We are through with this Reading.

Reports
Reports & Follow-up
R1. 1/9/40 Husband [228]‘s letter: “Thanks for the prompt reading and the telegram.
“We applied the warm oil on the afternoon that your telegram came, Friday, the 30th, but the fever did not reduce sufficiently to the point where I was willing to allow her to remain away from the hospital, in view of your suggestion to have hospitalization if the fever continued Saturday and Sunday.
“We took her to the hospital Sunday morning, the 31st, where she remained until Friday nite, the 5th, at which time we brought her home with the understanding that she would probably return to the hospital in some weeks when her strength was expected to be improved greatly enough to undergo an operation, which the doctor believes to be essential. We called in Doctor Rembert Bayne.
“Check for ten dollars for the check reading you took on the 30th is inclosed.
“Regards and best wishes to you and yours,”
R2. 5/3/40 Husband [228]‘s letter: “[313] selected Dr. Rembert Bayne as her doctor, and he attended her when she went to the hospital at the end of December. There are some of her disorders which appear to have improved, but she still has some troubles if I am to believe the reports that I hear.
“Doctor Bayne has indicated that operations would be in order, and is pushing us into making a decision before long. It was my idea that before letting him operate, I would want your say-so about it.
“There are some questions that have occurred to me that I would like for you to answer about her when you take a check reading, and I hope that you can take a check-reading right away.
“Please let me know immediately when you will be able to take the reading. [313] will be at …, continuously. She will go to Doctor Bayne’s office, however, Thursday, and would like to have your answer before that time if possible, hence, if you can give the reading at any time within the next five days or so, go right ahead and do it, with the assurance that she will be at … Street until Thursday of next week.
Questions:
Is there a fibroid tumor on the womb?
If there is, when should it be operated on? Is there a tumor on left ovary and tube, and when should it be operated on?
Is Sulfanilamide beneficial to this body?
Are exercises helpful to this body?
What is the condition of the rest of body, and is there any suggestion as to treatments?
“My check for $10.00 for this check-reading is enclosed. Hope you may be able to mail the answer back quickly.
“Best wishes to all…”
