This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 27th day of July, 1943, in accordance with request made by the self - [3136], new Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research and Enlightenment, Inc., recommended by a friend Mrs. [1158] and by the book, THERE IS A RIVER.

1. GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body; answering the questions, as I ask them:

2. EC: Yes - nice shady place.

3. We have the body here, [3136].

4. As we find, in giving an analysis of the disturbing influences with this body, these would appear rather serious. And yet, with the general activity, the amount of resistance, and the abilities of recuperation, we find that these should not be too severe - unless there are other developments not indicated in the present.

5. Some disturbance is indicated in most of the organs, yet not a cooperative effect by all of the organs being disturbed; rather we find that individual resistances are being manifested.

6. Thus, we have many forms of distortions in reflexes through the body.

7. With the correcting of many of the disturbances that upset the general nervous system, - the acute pain that goes through the right side of the body, especially, - if these were corrected in the main, we would for a greater or lesser period free the body from much of that disturbing it in the present.

8. For as we find, from the numbers of operations and their forming of scar tissue in portions of the body, and with those tendencies for the lymph to create those pockets as may form by long disturbance into some forms of cysts, causing portions of the lower jejunum to tend to telescope, - operative measures for these would be the more advisable for the body.

9. Then, with and during those periods of recuperation, do have a gentle massage daily along the cerebrospinal system to relax the body; using this combination of oils, in a gentle, even massage:

Peanut Oil…2 ounces, Olive Oil…1 ounce, Lanolin (liquefied)…1 teaspoonful.

10. These should bring much bettered conditions for the body. Of course, there would be required study and analysis on the part of those making such exploratory operations. For, there are those tendencies for accumulations in this area, that give rise to much of that which upsets the digestion and the ability of assimilation, as well as taking from the body much of the strength. This means that, with the age and with these little spells that come on, it requires several days before the body responds to any helpful measures.

11. But the operative forces, and then a proper care through convalescence, should make many corrections.

13. (Q) What causes and what should be done for insomnia? (A) This we find may be materially aided by the use of the Radio-Active Appliance, as combined with the removing of those conditions that cause a great deal of pressure upon the nerve forces of the body. But after, or when these are done, if the Appliance is used for one hour each day - put on in the evening - it will put the body to sleep.

14. (Q) Just where are the cysts? (A) In the lower right abdomen.

15. (Q) What causes the shooting pain in right side of rectum? (A) This is a pressure from those areas of the upper colon or caecum area.

16. (Q) What is wrong with the functioning of the digestive organs? (A) This is rather, as given, a part of the general condition, rather a bad reflex - or with the tremulous condition and those tendencies for upsetting, this causes the nausea at times.

Do these things indicated, and we should find bettered conditions for this body.

R1. 9/5/43 “On July 27th you gave a reading for me and my daughter, Mrs. [3112]. My own reading I accepted but the one for my daughter was so entirely out of line with anything connected with her that I wrote you there must have been a mistake in identity.

“On May 3rd I sent you a check for forty dollars for two readings.

“Since the reading for Mrs. [3112] was negative I should be glad if you could refund twenty dollars of my remittance if it is consistent with your policy.”

B2. 7/16/43 Questions: She also requested a Physical Rdg., for daughter, Mrs. [3112]:

1. What causes and what should be done to eliminate: Pain running from right side of rectum (inside) up the right side of spine to a spot that is always sore (or feels bruised)? (It ends there a few inches to the right of the spine. It pains always and if I am overtired or on my feet too much it pains like a toothache.)

2. Insomnia? (The principal thing that bothers me - for 20 yrs. or more, and it grows worse. I have read and tried every suggestion but they do not work with me. I try hot Ovaltine or a few light calisthenics and even in the middle of the night a warm bath and of course reading, but hour after hour goes by and I can’t drop off. My Cleveland doctor and the one in N.Y. have given me Panodorm, the mildest of the barbital products. I do not like to take anything as it seems as tho the finding of the cause would be a better solution, but it has not been found.)

3. Is there a cyst or a growth? (My X-ray pictures show a twist in the intestines and the caecum is turned upside down. I have had the gall bladder removed and appendix and have had the pyelitis operation twice. I am very careful of my diet and it is quite restricted. Like all women my age I think I have a growth. I know a cyst does not show in an X-ray, but if your diagnosis should give this information I am not afraid to have it removed, for my heart is good and I have a good deal of vitality.)

4. What is wrong with the functioning of the digestive organs? (Even before I had the gall bladder removed I had the digestive difficulties. Some secretion doesn’t function right. Whether it is the spleen, pancreas or liver, or just the malformation above mentioned, no one knows.)
