This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 10th day of August, 1943, in accordance with request made by mother - Mrs. […], new Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research and Enlightenment, Inc., recommended by the book, THERE IS A RIVER.

Time of Reading 10:35 to 10:55 A. M. Eastern War Time. …, Pa.

1. GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body; answering the questions, as I ask them:

2. EC: Yes, we have the body here, [3146].

3. As we find there are disturbing conditions which have prevented the nearer normal functioning of the body. These have to do primarily with glandular conditions.

4. The source of these we find is a pressure that caused the pineal gland to become overactive. This has caused an unusual growth in the structural portions of the body; to the joints, tendons; which has caused a drain on the system.

5. With the operative measures and the submerging of the activities of the coordinating forces between the sympathetic and cerebral spinal-nerve consciousness, these were arrested. Yet spasmodic reactions were resultant, because the sources of irritation had not been removed.

6. These at present prevent activity within structure; as the thigh, the rib, and the areas through which there is the formation of certain plasma cells or functioning. Hence, while there is a form of anemia, it is the character that causes rather tendencies in the ability of the glands in the stomach to produce sufficient for the activity in the pineals. Thus we find the imaginative body overactive.

7. We find that these may be materially aided, but will require these characters of application. These should be done under the direction of, or by, an osteopath of the “first water”. We would suggest such an one as Dr. Dick in Philadelphia.

8. These once begun, there would be the setting up of the corrections that must be made in the first, second, and third cervical, the second, third, and fourth dorsal, and through the lumbar area, the sacral, and especially the sacro-ileac plexus.

9. Each week there should be the treatments with the ultra-violet, using the green light projected between the ultra-violet and the body, this for about a minute and a half to two minutes once each week.

10. For thirty minutes each day at least, use the Radio Active Appliance. This period should be used for meditation, for preparing the body in its spiritual and mental meditations.

11. The massage and correction should be done about twice each week.

12. A series of eight to ten of these adjustments should be had, then a period of rest from them of at least three to four weeks, then a period of having six to eight more, which should be sufficient for these corrections, but the Radio Active should be used daily throughout the periods, keeping the attachment plates very clean, polishing them with the emery paper each time when taken off and each time just before attaching to the body.

13. Do these and keep a nominal, active life. Keep a normal diet, stressing rather the yellow vegetables and yellow fruit with plenty of sea food throughout the period.

14. These we find should bring normal forces for this body, for it is an exceptional entity in its ability to apply itself in this material world.

15. Do that.

R1. 9/7/43 Mother’s letter to EC: “I know you must think it queer that you have not heard from me. This will tell you the reason why. As I wrote you [3146] had been ailing for some time. Just about the time for the reading (Aug. 10) she seemed a little better but her eyes were rapidly getting worse. Aug. 12 our Dr. sent her to Phila. with the result that she was at once placed in a hospital and it was then diagnosed as pressure in the brain. On Aug. 26 Dr. Temple Fay operated and found a cyst the size of a plum directly back of the optic nerves.

This would account for the pressure indicated in your reading.

This also explains why we did not consult Dr. Dick - things moved so rapidly and became so critical that we simply had to go ahead in this fashion.

I knew you would be interested in the pressure as you definitely indicated that there was pressure, when others said there was not. I have no idea what Dr. Dick would have done under the circumstances & I believe you will be interested in getting his reaction to all this.

[3146] is still in the hospital, it is entirely possible that when we get her home we will again seek your assistance…”

R2. 7/44 Mother’s letter to EC: “About a year ago I became an Associate Member sending in $20.00 and obtaining a reading for our daughter, [3146]. For a time we received the monthly Bulletin but have not had one for several months. I imagine you feel we are not interested as we due to other complications did not follow thru regarding the reading. However we are interested and would appreciate receiving the bulletins which we have missed. I understand you have booklets on various diseases, may I have a list & price of those?

If I wish to become an active member just what could I do - I have the care of [3146] who is bed fast but improving so my time is very limited.

I have been too busy to do anything about this at all but now I would appreciate a reply.

B1. 7/11/43 Mother’s letter: “Until 4 yrs. ago she seemed to be perfectly healthy in every respect; then she grew very rapidly for about a year but did not put on the weight to correspond with her growth. This did not seem to affect her except in strenuous gym exercise, but we had the usual routine check-up made and she was decidedly underweight. Then in the fall of ‘41 she had her appendix out and seemed to gain for a while after that. In June of ‘42 and from then on until Dec. ‘42 she would have periods of severe pain in her left side. In Nov. of ‘42 she had a complete physical examination, was in the hospital and had as complete an examination as possible - everything was in good condition organically. Dec. 4th she came home from school with a severe headache which lasted off and on until Dec. 14th when she stayed home and in bed nearly all of the time. Dec. 23rd we took her to the hospital, unconscious, following 2 or 3 spasms. Dec. 25th she regained consciousness and neither the unconsciousness nor the spasms have been repeated. She was not back in school until Feb. 16th. Since then various things have been tried. There is a strong history of allergy in the family and the first of June we began to give her a serum but it made her much worse, in fact she is just now recovering from it. It’s a progressive sort of thing affecting first one set of nerves and then another. At present her eyes are affected. In spite of it all she graduated from H.S. as valedictorian of her class, yet I would not say she studied hard. These are the theories which have been advanced, any one or all may be right but we would like to really know, or at least know if we are on the right track. We have had five physicians and a masseur. 1. All agree that she has grown too rapidly, is very active mentally and physically and her muscles, nerves and glands have probably not kept up with her rapid physical growth. 2. All want her to put on weight. This she does not do in spite of a good appetite. 3. A psychosis - one Dr. holds to this idea but the rest who know her better and the masseur sees no evidence of this, as she has a healthy, happy attitude toward life herself. 4. Complete nervous and physical fatigue - reason unknown. 5. Allergy - our allergy specialist has found nothing so far but the allergy in the family makes this idea have sense. 6. An infection which we cannot find, or a brain pressure - which has been ruled out. 7. Adolescent development which time will remedy. This is a complete picture, as much as I can give physically. She’s underweight, has periods of excessive weakness, aches, headache, poor action at times of her ‘smooth’ muscles. Emotionally & socially has a nice balance, is religious in a wholesome way, cheerful even thru this whole year of illness. Socially has had problems which apparently did not upset her. We have moved frequently so that she has been in 4 different schools since she was in the 8th grade, has not had close friends the last 2 yrs. in school but has had in the vicinity, so her week-ends have been very busy and happy when she was able for it. Mentally she has completed the college prep. course in H.S. and also typing & shorthand, likes to study - really enjoys it…”

1. (If osteopathy is suggested) Will massage do as well? (We have an excellent masseur with some medical training & some psychology. He works in cooperation with many of the doctors here. If there are any special treatments indicated will you indicate where they may be obtained. I am not at all sure of the reaction of our doctors to this and in case it is negative I would like to know of doctors who would cooperate.)
