GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body; answering the questions, as I ask them:
-
EC: Yes, we have the body here.
-
As we find, this may be called a case of general debilitation, for while the body cares very well for the weaknesses in assimilation, or eliminations, there are those general debilitations from the inactivity of portions of the system which enable the better assimilation from the foods taken.
-
Thus a form of anemia, with the general weaknesses which is indicated at times through the troubles and disturbances in the lymph circulation; as through the alimentary canal, throat, lungs, and soft tissue in the head and face, weaknesses in the feet and limbs. All of these, as we find, are a result of the “battery” of the general nervous system having run down.
-
In bringing aid or better conditions to this body, we would:
-
Take internally each day, preferably at the evening meal, not quite a teaspoonful of Acigest, stirred in a glass full of raw milk. This is to assist the glands and the gastric flow to be more near normal; also it will produce better assimilation, so more resistances may be built in the body.
-
Also, each day, preferably at the noon meal, we would eat a whole wheat cracker, thinly spread with Calcios. This is to add the extra amount of calcium for digestion and assimilation.
-
About once each week, we would have a general relaxing treatment, as might be administered by a neuropath or a general osteopathic manipulator. This will aid in distributing the energies, producing better coordination, especially in those centers along the cerebro-spinal system, where the sympathic and cerebro-spinal coordinate one with the other.
-
These we would do.
-
In the diet, we would have often sea foods, not fresh water fish, but the deep sea fish. Fish and fowl, principally as meats. Vegetables, such as especially, carrots, beets, beet tops, which should be taken in large quantities. Twice each week the Jerusalem artichokes should be a part of the diet; one time raw and one time cooked in Patapar paper, saving the juices to be mixed with the pulp when it is prepared and seasoned to the taste. The effect of these chemical forces in their activity upon the body, prepared in this manner, will be beneficial in correcting and coordinating of disturbed eliminations, or the circulation and eliminations between the liver, kidneys, pancreas, and the spleen’s activities.
-
Then keep the mind young, but the body activities of its own age. These will be better for the body. DO NOT take carbonated waters, nor any of these drinks made from hops or of that nature.
-
These will bring better forces for this body.
-
Ready for questions.
-
We are through with this reading.
Two copies to Self (one for the osteopath you choose - Please let us have his name and address.) One copy to Miss Goodall for indexing
(Calcios and Acigest are both manufactured by The Colloidal Health Products Corp., Atten. A. A. Nichoson, Greenvale, Long Island, N.Y. Acigest is hydrochloric acid in a form easily assimilated and sells for 1 a bottle. [[Calcios|Calcios]] is a syrupy paste containing free calcium, easily assimilated, and sells for 2.50 a jar.
If Jerusalem artichoke is not obtained on the market, they may be ordered for a few cents a pound, from John A. Salzer Seed Co., LaCrosse, Wisconsin.)

If it is less let it go to the Caycy building fund for which I enclosed also $5.00 as pledged. As to the question whether the diary letter should be continued I say yes, it surely helps holding us together.

R3. 11/13/45 Gladys’ letter to [3147]:
Dear Friend:-
Please forgive me for waiting so long to acknowledge your Active Membership renewal and gift to the House Fund. I put your letter with a bunch of membership letters that I intended to answer immediately, but something came up and I’m just now getting to it. More and more I’m realizing that unless I answer a letter the minute I open it, it gets to the bottom of a constantly increasing stack. I’m turning over a new leaf now, though, and I promise to do better.
We appreciate your confidence in us more than can be expressed in words, and I hope it will be rewarded some day in one way or another.
Now that Hugh Lynn is home I’m sure I can devote more time to keeping track of my big “family.” Yes, he got in last night
- Ecken drove to Camp Meade to get him. I had talked to him on the phone but haven’t yet seen him. It is good that he has a nice little three year old boy, and a lovely wife, to comfort him. It will be hard coming to this house today without his parents, but he can feel their presence and know that they are here if anyone can.
I’m wondering if you know our good friends Mr. and Mrs. Charles W. Dillman, Hotel Gary, Gary, Indiana? There are many others in Chicago who are members and I think it would be a good idea for them to get together, at least occasionally, to become acquainted and to discuss mutual interests. Would you be interested in the forming of a group there to meet each week? I imagine that Hugh Lynn will be paying a visit to the Chicago members within a month or two, and it would be nice to have a group sort of organized and functioning by the time he arrives. If you’re interested in this, will you get in touch with Mrs. Albin C. Bro, Mt. Carroll, Ill.? (Marguerite Harmon Bro.) She has a complete list of the members in the Chicago area.
Bye now and thanks again. God bless you. [signed] Gladys

B1. 8/1/43 [3147]‘s letter:
Association for Research and Enlightenment, Inc. Virginia Beach, Va.
Gentlemen;
The hour of appointment for a Physical reading on Aug. 10th 1943 from 3.30 to 4.30 P.M. suits me well.
I shall be found on my bed room 5 at …, Chicago, Ill.
The two x ray reports which are enclosed [7/3/39 & 5/14/43], taken four years and two months ago respectively, may help to formulate the questions to be asked in my case.
This spring I went through a five week sick period, lost twenty pounds of weight and spat much blood for 12 days, on May 31st a check up film was taken and Dr. Andrew said; The streaks have almost disappeared except in the left apex, which are probably old scars from a healed up tuberculosis and there is no need to give you any prescription.
In my opinion the bleeding came not from the lungs but the trouble lies near the vocal cords, whatever it may be.
Hoping this to be satisfactory
I am yours very truly [3147]

Report on Mr. [3147]
PA view of the chest at six feet distance shows a symmetrical thorax. The heart shows about normal size and shape.
The right upper hilus region is thickened. From this area some heavy lung markings are going towards the periphery leading to a triangularly shaped, veil-like density, the base of which is in the axiliary region. A slight density can also be seen in the right apex. The left lung shows some sharply defined densities in the hilus region which are probably calcifications and some streaky rather sharply defined lung markings going up towards the left apex. The left apex shows a thickening of the cap which probably represents a scar.
The findings in the left upper lung are undoubtedly those of an old probably healed tuberculous process.
The findings in the right upper lung, whoever, do not have enough radiological characteristics to make a definite diagnosis. The trianglar density in the axillary region could be an infarct or it could be an atelectasis caused through an obstruction of one of the upper bronchi (broncho-genetic Ca.?).
Additional information could possibly be obtained by a bronchoscopic examination.
A check-up film should be taken in a week or two.
