[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno. (Notes read to and transcribed by Mary LaClair.) Mrs. [3149] and her husband.]
Time of Reading 3:40 to 4:00 P. M. Eastern War Time. …, N.J.
-
GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving cause of the existing conditions, also the suggestions for help and relief of this body; answering the questions as I ask them:
-
EC: Yes, we have the body here, [3149].
-
As we find, there are disturbances preventing the better physical functioning through the body and unless there are measures taken, these conditions must gradually grow to be more disturbing, for these are the tendencies for producing discoordination or incoordination between the sympathetic and central nervous forces of the body. And these are tending towards psychopathic as well as purely pathological conditions; though this arises from pathological conditions, but having psychological effects.
-
These we find arise from pressures which exist in the segments along the cerebrospinal system, and have to do with the effects produced in and with the organs of the pelvis.
-
Hence, we find those centers through which this incoordination comes about are the sacro-ileac plexus, the lumbar axis, and the ninth dorsal. The reflex is to the third and fourth cervical through the pressures in those areas indicated; causing the disturbance to the head, neck, and facial muscles at times. These then are the sources of the disturbance.
-
The effects or tendencies are toward a form of anemia in the blood supply; in nerve forces, the reactions periodically of distresses that disturb not only the imaginative body but also the physical body; bringing conditions hard for the body to control, at times becoming beyond the actual physical control of the body.
-
As to organic disturbances, these are very little, though sympathetic through the functioning, as elimination, as the organs of the nervous system as related to the sensory force. These find reactions such as a fulness in the throat, heaviness, noises in the head, fulness to the speech, or a lack in ability to control speech; even the vision at times becomes distorted or disturbed. But these, as indicated, are purely reflexes and are the effect of a pathological condition.
-
In making the corrections for this body, as we find, if these applications will be made in the manner indicated, we will bring health, strength, normal reactions through the body-forces to this body.
-
We would have the proper corrections osteopathically made in the sacro-ileac, through the lumbar and ninth dorsal; and then coordinate the cervical area with same. These treatments should be given at least twice each week, and we would have such corrections made by those associated with or such as Dobbins. Take these suggested treatments osteopathically for at least five weeks, then leave off for two or three weeks, then have the second series.
-
Supply the body with the low electrical forces that may be had in using the Wet Cell Appliance, AS the Radio Active would be used. Use the electrical low voltage though double strength:
Copper sulfate…3 pounds, Sulfuric Acid C.P…1 1/2 ounces, Zinc…6 drams, Willow Charcoal…1/2 pound.
Attach Appliance at least thirty minutes each day, preferably when body is ready to retire.
-
Keep the attachment plates very clean. Polish them with the emery paper each time before and after using. Renew the charge every thirty days.
-
Throughout the period do keep these low electrical forces for the body. Use those periods of attachment, not as something to be hurried through with, but when the attachments are made to the wrist and to the opposite ankle, and the body is resting, use that as the meditative period; not planning for what you are going to do, not arguing with anyone else, but talking to thy Maker.
-
Do that.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) How did these pressures originate? (A) Through the activities in the pelvic reactions.
-
(Q) How long should it take to correct the condition? (A) Sixty to ninety days.
-
(Q) Does cyst over eye have any effect on condition? (A) No, this is a wen, not even a full cyst. Understand, this is in opposition to what many medical individuals would tell you, but; if this is gently massaged each day with Castor Oil, it will within a year be ready either to be removed or it will disappear entirely without operation.
-
(Q) Should any of my normal living habits or conditions be changed in any way? (A) Only the using of self and self’s abilities to be constructive. Never allow self to become aggravated, even when others attempt to do so. Look to the creative forces. It is within self that help will come.
-
(Q) Did the birth of my child have anything to do with the condition. (A) Through the period of gestation these conditions were brought about, and with the period of delivery, not all the precautions that should have been, were taken.
Do these things as indicated and we will bring better conditions.
- We are through with this Reading.

Reports & Follow-up
R1. 8/11/43 Remarks after 3149-1: “So true. I was nervous all my life and had a special doctor to attend me at childbirth who was skilled in producing painless delivery, but he went away and left me to his assistant who was not authorized to give me anything to relieve me. Also regarding the cyst over my eye - I was born with it, and my mother always said it was a wen for me not to have it removed, although the doctors told me to have it operated on. So glad I didn’t listen to them.”
R2. 10/4/43 Dr. Geo. N. Coulter’s report:
The physical examination of this patient revealed the findings of the reading. Her blood pressure was very low there is some glandular dysfunction, is suspected but not definite. Under treatment, she has improved slightly but it may be advisable to have another reading, at a future date to determine if the treatment which is being given, is correct. Treatment started Aug. 30, 1943.
R3. 11/9/43 Mrs. [3149]‘s ltr. to EC:
…, N.J.
Dear Mr. Cayce:
I was very pleased to have the opportunity of meeting you last August at the time of the reading.
Naturally upon my return home I arranged for the osteopathic treatments and ordered the Wet Cell Appliance.
Since then I have been taking both treatments as prescribed. Having taken these treatments for about 8 or 9 weeks and not having found any improvement as yet I felt it might be desirable to ask some additional questions and I hope you will find it convenient to have a check reading on these questions.
- Is anything wrong with the Endocrine part of my body?
- Are Osteopathic treatments being administered properly?
- Should they be continued?
- Are Wet Cell Battery Treatments being made properly?
- Should they be continued?
- Is smoking cigarettes bad for me?
- Should I stop smoking?
- At or during time of childbirth I was emotionally upset & something seemed to have happened in my mind, which resulted in a feeling that my eyes are staring, and my arms & legs stiff & the turning of head stiff.
- What causes these feelings & what can be done about them?
- What happened in my mind, if anything, to result in this fixed feeling of staring & arm & leg movements stiff?
- Has condition of my tongue and teeth anything to do with the condition.
- In either event what can be done to correct the situation of the teeth and tongue. Should I go on a certain diet?
I am looking forward to your kind advise on the questions listed above.
Thanking you, I am,
Very truly yours Mrs. [3149]
P.S. If you will kindly advise us the amount of this reading we shall be glad to send a check promptly.

B1. 5/23/43 Letter: I have been ill for quite some time and have confidence in your work. I hope and pray that you can help me with an early reading.
Would it be of advantage to come to Virginia Beach for the reading? If it is, are there early secured accommodations in the resort?
B2. 8/11/43 Questions submitted in person just prior to 3149-1:
- What is the nature of my illness?
- How did it originate?
- What measures should be taken to overcome it?
- Will a doctor or psychiatrist be recommended, and what the treatment be?
- How long should it take to correct it?
- Does cyst over eye have any effect on condition?
- Should any of my normal living habits or conditions be changed in any way?
- Did the birth of my child have anything to do with the condition?
