GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body; answering the questions, as I ask them:
-
EC: Yes, we have the body, [3163].
-
As we find, these are more mental aberrations, or lack of coordination between cerebrospinal and the sympathetic nervous system.
-
These come from a condition existent when very young.
-
As to whether this may be entirely corrected at this late date, will depend upon the persistency with which administrations may be made for the body.
-
For, as we find, the disturbances are in the nerve ends of the coccyx area; and the reactions are confusion, with the inability of the body to coordinate the impulses received from instructions by others or to apply that obtained by impressions received through the sensory activities.
-
Not an imbecile, not lesions in the brain; though there is a very smooth reaction in the reflexes in brain centers.
-
We find that there should be the administration of Chloride of Gold for the body, so as to cause nerve energies to be rebuilded. This would be prepared in the proportions of one grain of Chloride of Gold Sodium to each ounce of distilled water, using three ounces for each fifteenth-day period of treatment; that is after fifteen applications to the body. This would be carried into the body vibratorially through the Wet Cell Appliance. Use the regular charge for the Appliance, but no Charcoal in this particular case. Recharge the Appliance every thirty days.
-
The attachments would be made to the body only twice each week, for thirty minutes to one hour. The large plate through which the Chloride of Gold passes vibratorially would be attached to the umbilical plexus and lacteal duct, which would be on this body three fingers from the navel center directly to the right and two fingers up from that point (a little bit of variation in the abdominal structure here). The small copper plate would be attached to the 4th lumbar.
-
Immediately after removing the attachments there should be corrections osteopathically, which will necessarily have to be very gradually made.
-
Now, we may find periods when there will be produced reflex reactions, when the body would apparently become very much aggravated at those making administrations; while at other periods it would become very much upset with those who insist upon these applications being tried.
-
So, much will depend upon those who have the direction of the body, as to whether they will go through these periods of the reaction that will occur from time to time. These will occur for two to three days, at or near what would be the Periods for the body in its functioning.
-
But these nerves will necessarily have to be straightened; that is, as it were, will have to be straightened where pressures have been produced from an injury to the end of the spine. Don’t remove it, but DO make those changes so that there is not a short circuiting in the impulses from the brush end of the spine to the nerves of the lower portion of the sympathetic system.
-
That is, corrections may be made, but it will require patience and persistence.
-
Use the Appliance regularly twice each week for at least six months, and then have a rest period from the Appliance for three months.
-
But during the period of rest do keep up the osteopathic adjustments.
-
And it will require patience on the part of the one making the adjustments, and a good one to make suggestions as the treatments are administered. It will require at least thirty minutes to an hour to give these treatments. A lady, of course would be better - but who ever would be in sympathy with these applications suggested. This would be an excellent case for Dr. Dick, if she will take it; but the environs should be where those who are responsible or who are in sympathy with the body may watch it closely.
-
We are through with this Reading.

R1. 10/21/43 Sister’s letter:
Mr. Edgar Cayce Association for Research & Enlightenment, Inc. Virginia Beach, Va.
Dear Mr. Cayce,
I received the Physical reading of my sister, [3163], …, N.Y.
I was not entirely satisfied because some of the questions I had forwarded to you in my letter of July 28th were not answered in your Reading. Perhaps I should have suggested the Life Reading which would have answered our question as to why she is afflicted with such a condition, and whether or not it is safe to leave her with my mother, who is aging rapidly due to the constant care and attention required by my sister. According to the Physical Reading, [3163] would require careful attention and detailed treatment over a long period which would require much patience due to her age, and financial expense that cannot be considered under present conditions.
The situation is not a happy one. Therefore I am appealing to you once again, in requesting the Life Reading which would perhaps give us the answer we are seeking.

R2. 10/26/43 EC’s letter to [3163]‘s sister:
Dear Mrs. […]:
I have yours of the 21st regarding the reading for your sister, [3163]. I am sorry to know that you are not pleased with the information as was gotten. I am sure that my wife felt the questions had been answered, or she would have asked the questions as had been listed. That is why we ask for the questions to be sent us. If you like for us to go ahead and try a Life Reading, let us know about this. We want to be of a help, if possible, but as you will know, this is not a cure-all by any means, but I will be glad to try and help. Please write me about this and I will make the appointments as soon as possible, though we are from 6 to 12 months in advance with appointments at this time.
Hoping that we may indeed be of a real service, I am,
Sincerely, Edgar Cayce
R3. 8/3/44 Sister’s letter:
Dear Mr. Cayce, In accordance with my last letter and your request that I forward you questions for a Life Reading scheduled for August 14th on my sister [3163] I can at this time give you her address for the 14th of this month: Hudson River State Hospital, Poughkeepsie, New York.
My previous letter sent to you during July contained several questions: such as what is the exact cause physically and karmically of her present mental condition? Can her condition be improved at this time according to her past incarnations? I feel certain that the usual Life Reading will supply the answers and enlighten us so that we may assist this unfortunate girl.
Deeply grateful, I am, […]

R4. 8/14/44 EC’s letter to [3163]‘s sister:
Mrs. […] …, N.Y.
Dear Mrs. […]:-
In consideration for my own health I am being forced to take an extended rest. Therefore it is impossible to get your sister’s reading for her today.
In looking over your sister’s physical reading in light of the questions presented for her life reading, I would like to point out just how many have already been answered. The exact cause is given, and that which brought it on. As to whether she will improve is also indicated. Since the readings do not prophesy it would not be given where she will spend the rest of her life.
In view of the fact that a life reading is given for application by the individual, I do not believe that such a reading could further aid her at this time.
It is indicated that her physical reading, consistently and persistently applied would improve her condition. When this has been accomplished, a check-physical reading would undoubtedly be of most benefit to her.
From past experience in dealing with the various needs and the extent to which a reading can be helpful, I feel it my duty to point out these time proven facts to you.
In further cooperating with us, would you kindly let us have a complete and detailed outline of the manner in which the reading has been followed, the time element involved and the results. This information is extremely helpful to us in formulating any questions you might present for a check-physical reading, as well as being very important to our research work.
Thanking you for your cooperation, I am
Sincerely, [signed by mv] Edgar Cayce [EC:mv]
Background
Background
B1. 6/7/43 Sister’s letter: “It is a mental case - altho she has been to a sanitarium she is still most unhappy in her present state. She cries a good deal, is difficult to handle, and she bemoans the fact that somehow she has missed out on the blessings others have received during their lives. She is now living with our mother. Mother sometimes says perhaps it was a ‘curse’ put on herself - I would say karma - at any rate we are all concerned and would be deeply grateful if perhaps you could thru your Rdg. throw some light on her illness - My brother is a physician practicing on L.I. He, too, has tried to help her with psychiatry, etc., but of no avail.”
B2. 7/28/43 Sister’s letter:
Mr. Edgar Cayce Association for Research & Enlightenment Virginia Beach, Virginia
Dear Mr. Cayce,
In compliance with my letter of the 29th of June, I am sending you the following questions covering the Reading of my sister [3163], August 19th, 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.
- What brought about (the cause), her present mental condition?
- If there is a chance for improvement what treatments are suggested?
- Is it best to leave her at home with her (my) mother, or should she be committed to an institution?
- Would a geographical change benefit her?
