This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 23rd day of September, 1943, in accordance with request made by the self - Mrs. [3232], new Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research and Enlightenment, Inc., recommended by the book, THERE IS A RIVER.

Time of Reading 11:20 to 11:30 A. M. Eastern War Time. …, N.Y.

1. GC: You will go over this body carefully examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body; answering the questions, as I ask them.

2. EC: Yes, we have the body here.

3. In considering the disturbances in the physical forces of this body, we would counsel first in these directions:

4. Though the conditions in the present grow more and more serious and the entity less and less able to fulfill the duties and obligations, becoming more and more dependent upon others for the material as well as the mental and spiritual things of life, - do not let this make thee hard, or condemning, or faultfinding. But be ye patient. For, in patience ye may become aware of thy soul.

5. The hindrances in the limbs - as to their usefulness and the ability to stand or walk for any great period - are growing serious. But these, as we find, are from the lack of the chemical activities in the body functioning that allow in the assimilation for the strengthening or supplying of nerve energies for nerves, muscles and tendons with impulse for activity.

6. These, as we find, may be materially aided, deterred, stopped, and gradually the strength may grow back - if the first things, as indicated, are done first.

7. We would apply daily for thirty minutes the Wet Cell Appliance carrying Chloride of Gold Sodium (in the proportions of one grain to each ounce of distilled water).

8. The small plate would be attached to the 4th lumbar. The larger plate, through which passes the Gold Solution vibratorially, would be attached to the umbilical and lacteal duct center, which on this particular body will be four fingers from the navel center to the right and three fingers up - which is a little high on this particular body, owing to pressures that have been existent in the colon, from a plethoric condition produced there (this would be well to be reduced also by colonic irrigations).

9. The charging solution for the Appliance, to the gallon and a half of distilled water, should be:

Copper Sulphate…2 pounds, Sulfuric Acid, C.P…1 3/4 ounces, Zinc…4 drams, Willow Charcoal…1/2 pound.

10. Each day when removing the Appliance from the body, massage the body thoroughly with this combination of oils:

Peanut Oil…2 ounces, Olive Oil…2 ounces, Lanolin (liquefied)…1 teaspoonful.

Shake this solution and massage thoroughly into the lumbar and sacral areas, and especially along the limbs, the left limb that has given trouble and the right limb - under the knee, in the foot, especially in the bursa of the heel and the front under the toes or in the instep.

11. Purify the glands at times by taking internally Atomidine in this manner:

12. Take one drop in half a glass of water each morning before any meal is taken for three days in succession each week (say, Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays) for about four weeks. Then leave off four weeks, and then take again in the same manner, and so on.

13. In the diet, keep plenty of seafoods often.

14. Do these, and we will find better conditions for this body.

16. (Q) Do I have an anemic condition as told I have? (A) There is an anemic condition. Hence the supplies of seafoods are especially good for this body - particularly after there has been the reduction of that plethoric condition in the ascending colon.

17. (Q) Is it necessary to take as much liver as prescribed? (A) As we find, Beef Juice taken instead of the liver would be more effective and better. Take this as medicine, a tablespoonful during the day but divided - half in the morning, half in the afternoon. Let the body be at least a minute in sipping a teaspoonful. Eat a whole wheat cracker with it when it is being sipped.

R1. 10/16/43 [3232]‘s letter to EC:

“This will acknowledge the receipt of [the] Physical reading, which you did for me September 23, and ask you to please pardon the delay. I had hoped I might start the treatments and then let you know. But up to this writing, I have not received my Wet Cell Appliance. There have been so many delays in getting this Appliance, although Mr. Godfrey has had my check for same since September 27. I received the Appliance by express on October 13, and found upon opening it, the crock was smashed and one of the wires was missing, which of course means another delay.

“I am writing to ask this one question, Mr. Cayce. The copper plate which I am to place on the 4th lumbar is just one inch in diameter. Can this be correct? Since this is the area which gives me trouble, seems one would have to become an expert anatomist to hit just the fourth lumbar with a one inch disc. I am not at all familiar with the Wet Cell Appliance. I hope you will understand why I ask this question.

“As I establish the routine of treatments which you have prescribed, I will let you hear from me as to my progress…”

R2. 10/19/43 EC’s letter to [3232]:

“Thank you for yours of the 16th. I am sorry that you have had such a delay with your reading from so many different causes. I hope that you have not become discouraged, but that you will soon be able to begin with the suggestions made, and will find real help in the application of the suggestions.

“As regarding the copper plate: Yes, I think this is quite sufficient in size. In fact, it is about the size the information has given. You possibly don’t know, but it is true. The readings have given in great detail just how these little Appliances are to be built; giving the size, shape, and the materials that are to be used in each connection, and they are not always the same for different individuals. So I am sure it must be correct here.

“It would be better if you would have someone point out to you, who is an anatomist or physiologist. I am very sure if you will go to Dr. Reilly’s place in Radio City, he is a hydrotherapist, he will be glad to have one of his assistants, or he himself, would point out the spot to you, and once it is pointed out, you would have no trouble in remembering just where it was, and there won’t be any charge for it either.

“I am supposed to be in New York on the evening of November 9 to make a talk at Steinway Hall. I hope it will be possible for me to meet you that evening. Do come if you feel the least inclined…”

R3. 11/2/43 [3232]‘s letter to EC:

“I have your letter of October 19. You can be sure I will be at Steinway Hall November 9, and would feel honored to have a few words with you. But I doubt if that will be possible, for the crowd that will be there, I am sure. However, I will be one of your silent admirers in the audience.

“In my letter to you of October 16, I had not started all the treatments prescribed for me. I finally got everything together by October 20. The second crock which Mr. Godfrey sent me (to replace the first one) also arrived broken, so I had to buy one here. I have been using this Appliance at home every day, then going to Reilly’s for my massage and colonic irrigations. As to the oil for rubbing, this requires points, as well as points for the beef to make Beef Juice. In order to carry out the order for Beef Juice, I will have to go to my local Ration Board to see if I can get extra points. In the meantime, the best that I can do about this is to continue taking the Liver Extract (by hypodermic) three times weekly, and the Beef Juice the other days. I have been taking this Liver Extract for more than a year and a half, by the doctor’s orders. What do you think about the above? The reading does not tell how long I am to continue with the Wet Cell Appliance, massage and irrigations. However, I expect to carry out the treatments for two months, and at the end of that time, which will be December 20, could I then have a Check reading? I feel very confident that everything will work out satisfactorily, in spite of all the discouragements I have had relative to this reading. Please let me know about this.

R4. 12/17/43 [3232]‘s letter to EC:

“I have yours of December 9. Yes, I was at Steinway Hall on November 9. I was so close to you I could have reached over and touched you. You remember, when you first arrived, and before you sat up on the platform, you sat down in the audience for a few minutes, in the first row to the right. I recognized you by your picture in the book. You were eloquent in your simplicity of manner.

“I hung on [to] your every word. To me you seemed like someone I had known for a long time, and thousands of others there probably felt the same way. Truly the ‘Christ in you’ shines forth. Many of the seasoned orators could take lessons from you in the ease of your platform manner. I felt as though I had a personal interest in you, and yet I am #10,000 or so reading. Did you hear of the mobs of people in the building and on the street waiting for the second lecture? It looked like the crowds at the Polo Grounds.

“I am doing the best I can with what you prescribed in the reading. I have done everything as ordered except the Beef Juice. With that, I am having difficulty. When I have the points to spare - there is no beef on the market. But I have added seafood to my diet three times a week. And I have used the Wet Cell Appliance every day for two months. That is a strange apparatus. I can’t feel a thing and therefore wonder if it is in working order. I do feel some improvement in my condition in so far that I have more tolerance and do not fatigue so easily when walking. But I know everything will be all right in due time. Also in the reading you say for me to do ‘the first things first’ which I am and this part of the treatment gives me great joy and comfort, and I am more interested in that than I am in the physical end of my treatment.

“As to the Check reading, instead of doing it this month as you suggested, would you do it around January 20? That will then give me three months continuous treatment. I want to know if I can use the Wet Cell Appliance on some other places. My cervical spine aches quite a lot. If convenient to you, could you set aside a date for me, and let me know, and I will send you check for same…”

R5. 12/28/43 EC’s letter to [3232]:

“Thank you for yours of the 17th. I wish you had made yourself known to me at the meeting. I would like very much to have met you.

“Am glad to know that you are feeling some improvement. No, you will not feel, or seldom does anyone feel anything from the Appliance that you are supposed to use, but be sure that you have it recharged as is suggested to you and be sure you keep the plates (the little plates you attach to the body) very clean. Use a little bit of sandpaper and clean them off when you take it off the body, and when you attach it to the body. Yes, I am very sure that you will find the spiritual aspect, the way one thinks, and the way one reacts to others will do as much or more for help than anything in the world. I just hope that you keep on the improve.

“We are making the appointment for the Check reading on the morning of January 21, 10:30 to 11:30, EWT. Be sure that you let me know where you will be at the hour and I am sure you will have quite a number of questions that you want to ask at the time. You will find the little slip enclosed with request for Check reading…”

R6. 1/15/44 [3232]‘s letter to EC:

“I am enclosing check for $10.00 for Check Physical reading which you have scheduled for me, Friday, January 21, between 10:30 and 11:30 A.M., EWT. I will be at the above address.

“Following are the questions I wish to ask:

1. Has the plethoric condition in the ascending colon been reduced?
2. What is the cause of the pain and tightness in the cervical spine?
3. Is there any improvement in the left leg? What is the cause of this weakness?
4. Am I carrying out all previous instructions correctly?

“If possible, I would like to have a Life reading, but not for several months yet, as the above is quite enough to keep me busy. However, I know how busy you are. Could you give me some idea how far distant I could get an appointment for this? I remember you saying you had appointments so many years in advance. Hence I wondered if I even had a chance.

“Thanking you very kindly for everything and with my best regards to you…”

B1. 6/9/43 [3232]‘s letter: “Five years ago I was told I had multiple sclerosis, and about a month ago this was confirmed by another neurologist… The doctors say there is nothing they can do for me, and am, therefore, under no kind of treatment, excepting liver extract. I have gotten progressively worse until now I have considerable difficulty in walking. My legs fatigue easily and ache constantly. I stumble and have fallen on the streets and I have a limp. I cannot walk more than four or five blocks… I am a Registered Nurse and walking and standing is very necessary in my work… I have not worked since March, thinking to rest a while would help me to walk better, but it hasn’t.”

B2. 7/15/43 [3232]‘s letter to EC: “This is to inform you that I will be at the above address at the time of my physical reading July 25, between 11 and 12 A.M. and will spend that time in meditation and prayer.

“At the time of my original correspondence, I failed to mention that I was a patient of Mr. Harold Reilly and had taken a few treatments from him when I heard of you. Then I stopped the treatments. Mr. Reilly thinks I acted unwisely in stopping treatments until I heard from you and I think he [is] right, because I feel I have lost what little I had gained.

“You may send me the results of the reading to the above address.

“Whatever the results of the reading, I feel confident will be God’s will and my trust in Him is explicit that He will show me a way out.

“Thanking you very kindly, Mr. Cayce, for giving me this time, and may God bless you and yours always…”
