This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Va. Beach, Va., this 25th day of September, 1943, in accordance with request made by the father - Mr. […], new Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc., recommended by the book, THERE IS A RIVER.

Camarillo Hospital, Time of Reading Ward N, 10:45 to 11:00 A. M. Eastern War Time. Camarillo, Calif.

1. GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body; answering the questions, as I ask them:

2. EC: Yes, we have the body here, [3238].

3. As we find, there are pressures that exist in the structural portions of the body that have deflected the activities of the glandular system, as related to the eliminations in periods.

4. These as we find would be much nearer to be helped through the corrections osteopathically, and taking the body away from so much closeness to the violence to those portions of the body that do respond to sympathetic and cerebrospinal coordination at times.

5. Hence we find that those characters of treatments as might be obtained in Still-Hildreth, Macon, Missouri, would offer the better opportunity for helpful influences for the body.

6. To be sure, there may be a return of more rationality when the periods of changes have passed, but with giving only such measures as these to keep down those reactions - in a submerged state of nervous reaction - inflammation may set up.

7. These, then, we would do. Change the environs, the activities, to such expressions as may be had under Still-hildreth.

8. Ready for questions.

9. (Q) What specific corrections or treatments should the body have at Still-Hildreth? (A) This had rather be sought when such a change is made, and dependent upon conditions through those periods of changes - as to just what is to be done. But there are pressures in the coccyx, the lumbar and also in the 3rd and 4th cervical.

10. (Q) Is the gray matter in the spinal column diseased? (A) It is more as a pressure; not so much a disease as being at dis-ease.

11. (Q) Is the gray matter of the brain diseased? (A) About the same condition.

This may clear, as indicated; but it would be merely a “happen chance” by there being some activity that would cause some changes in the pressures indicated.

12. (Q) Would the removal of the female organs help as she is in a dazed condition during the menses period? (A) We do not find so.

13. (Q) Is there any obstruction in the blood stream that would cause a deficiency to the brain? (A) Not in the blood stream.

14. We are through with this reading.

Thank you for the prompt attention given to the psychic reading of [3238] of September 25th.

It was very encouraging to read that her condition could be helped by osteopathic corrections, although you did not mention that she could be cured of her ailment, I am assuming that such was the case and have written Dr. Still, copy of the letter attached.

Was I wrong to assume that she could be cured of her ailment?

I would be pleased to receive another pamphlet telling of your work and the association, postage enclosed.

After reading the book “There is a River” by Thomas Sugrue, I also, would appreciate any information regarding the health of my daughter [3238]. This girl born … March 19, 1915 and named […] in birth records was adopted when three days old and re-named [3238].

In September 1935 [3238] became sick which the Doctors finally agreed was “Sleeping Sickness” and in 1938 it was necessary to place [3238] in the Camarillo State Hospital, about 60 miles North of Los Angeles.

Attention- Dr. Schneider

Dear Sir-

During my conversation with you May 21st while visiting my daughter [3238], the subject of hypnotism and psychical phenomena were mentioned and I stated that I was contacting a party who I understood would be able to diagnose sickness while under hypnotic sleep. Enclosed is a booklet regarding the person and the subject and on page 16, mentioned is made about the importance of cooperation of the physician in following the information given: I am desirous of having a physical reading of [3238] providing the hospital physician will give the necessary co-operation. Can this be arranged. I feel sure the reading will be of value in locating the seat of trouble and if co-operation can be given, request the information furnished be followed without deviation and as improvement progresses will request a check reading.

Dear Sir:

Thank you for your gratifying letter of June 10 in reference to your cooperation in an experiment mentioned in my letter of May 29.

I am attaching herewith a letter from Mr. Cayce which is self explanatory. I will appreciate it if you will forward to me the questions you wish to ask that I may include them in my letter of acceptance of the date and time.

The time set for the reading is much later than I anticipated and will call it to your attention near that date. The one question I would like to ask is regarding the blood stream. There may be an obstruction causing a deficiency to the brain, and I would appreciate it if you will incorporate the question with yours.

It is possible that it would help Mr. Cayce if [3238] could be by herself at the time mentioned. Could this be arranged and will you give some reference to the particular place?

This is in response to your communication regarding the above named patient. Arrangements will be made for [3238] to be in a room by herself on the date specified and at the hours specified on Ward N, as per your request. I can not think of any particular questions to ask at this time.

B6. 8/3/43 Father’s letter to EC:

Dear Mr. Cayce:

The date September 25 and time mentioned in your letter of June 23 is gratefully acknowledged and I am attaching a copy of a letter to the Doctor and a copy of the Doctor’s reply which is self-explanatory. Although the Doctor has agreed to cooperate, you will note that he states that he cannot think of any particular questions at this time, which makes me think he is skeptical about your abilities as during my conversation with him on May 21 he asked the question: “How will we know that he has diagnosed [3238] as he does not know her personally” and intimated that doctors as a whole did not accept anything that did not come through the orthodox channel.

But this is not my opinion and I do believe in such things and will be grateful to you for the reading.

So, in addition to the question about the blood stream mentioned in my letter to the Doctor, I would also like to have some description or some identifying mark on [3238] and some description of the room that will satisfy the Doctor and possibly overcome some of his skepticism. It is possible that this reading of [3238] will open new fields of research that will be of great assistance to others.

B7. 8/24/43 Father’s letter to EC:

Mr. Edgar Cayce Virginia Beach, Va.

Dear Mr. Cayce:

With reference to your letter of August 13th, [3238] will be at the Camarillo Hospital, Ward N, and arrangements have been made that [3238] will be placed in a room by herself on the date and time designated. Camarillo is 60 miles north of Los Angeles and the hospital is about five miles west (toward the ocean) from the town.

Regarding questions:

1. Please give physical description of [3238] for identification purposes.
2. Is there any obstructions in the blood stream that would cause a deficiency to the brain.
3. Is there any pressure on the nerves in the spinal column.
4. Is the gray matter in the spinal column diseased.
5. Is the gray matter of the brain diseased.
6. Would the removal of the female organs help as she is in a dazed condition during the menses period.
7. Please state what is the cause of the sickness and method to be used in correcting.

I appreciate very much your letters and your interest and wish you success in all your endeavors.
