This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 26th day of September, 1943, in accordance with request made by the self - Mr. [3240], new Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research and Enlightenment, Inc., recommended by the article in Coronet.

Time of Reading Fort Story, Va. 4:15 to 4:25 P. M. Eastern War Time. (Oceana, Va.)

1. GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body; answering the questions, as I ask them:

2. EC: Yes, we have the body here, [3240].

3. As we find, in the main physical conditions are very good in many respects; but there are tendencies that unless these are taken into consideration may cause a great deal of trouble. These arise primarily from a condition which involves the glandular forces of the system, tending towards the creating of sugar in too great a quantity for the activity of the circulation between kidneys and liver and their effect upon the activities of the locomotion of the body. And this will increase the weight to such an extent that hindrances would arise in a form either of deterioration in the muscle and tendon forces of the body or in the activities that would affect the heart, the liver and the kidneys.

4. There is a subluxation as we find, that exists in the 9th dorsal, the 6th and 7th dorsal. One is in one direction; the other in the other.

5. This we would correct osteopathically.

6. Also we would keep better activities by the use of the Jerusalem artichoke as a part of the diet three times each week. Prepare this in a special way and manner. Use one about the size of a hen egg, cooked in its own juices and served in its own juice - being prepared in Patapar paper. Boil in the Patapar paper then mix the bulk of the artichoke with the juices (after taking off the peeling) and season with a little butter and salt, and a little pepper if so desired, and eat all of it.

7. Do not take this without having the osteopathic corrections, for these are to work in unison.

8. If these are done, we should have better activities for this body.

9. Ready for questions.

10. (Q) What causes pains in my back? (A) As just indicated, there are those subluxations in the 9th dorsal, the 6th and 7th dorsal that have supplied to the activities of the glandular forces, especially as relate to the pancrean forces, that affect the vitality produced in the body through proper assimilation.

Make these corrections and we will find betterment throughout the body.

11. (Q) Can anything be done for my ear? deafness in the right ear? (A) The corrections in the dorsal, coordinating the cervical area with same, will relieve tension. The condition in the antrum needs attention. This will come with the use of the better diet, as well as with the massage as may be given for correcting same.

12. (Q) Does this cause the dizziness at times as if I am losing my balance? (A) As indicated, through the liver and the coordinating of the circulation between liver and kidneys.

13. (Q) What causes sharp pains in back of head at times? (A) All of these result from the same sources of disturbance.

Do as indicated and we will save the self from a great deal of distress later, as well as becoming too heavy and not able to navigate.

14. We are through for the present.

Store in Norfolk, on the 3rd-4th floor, with kitchen utensils, etc. - 25 cents a dozen sheets.)

R1. 9/26/43 Remarks by Mr. [3240] after 3240-1: “That must be true, because I’ve been suffering for 8-9 months - have difficulty in walking - pains down legs from the lower part of back. I’ve been the rounds with Army doctors - they can’t find anything wrong; they think I’m trying to dodge Army duties.”

R2. 2/21/45 IMG’s report: “In the spring of 1944 I met and talked with Mr. [3240]‘s wife for the second time. The first time I went over the reading with them and went with them to get the artichokes. Mr. [3240] had been to Dr. M. L. Richardson - but didn’t like his attitude. They did have some difficulty in getting the artichokes over a period of time. [GD: Note 3240-1, Par. 7 saying artichokes should not be taken without having the osteopathic corrections, as they are to work in unison.] Mr. [3240]‘s wife told me, when I talked to her in the spring of 1944, that Mr. [3240] had again been to Johns Hopkins in an effort to rid himself of his trouble. Apparently, further use of the reading [or part use!] did not appeal to them. I have not seen them since. Mr. [3240] being in the Army, and having only given us his Ft. Story address, we have no way of contacting them further.”

R3. 9/16/74 GD’s note: Mr. [3240] died 9/13/74 in a … Hospital. Death notice ended saying, “Memorial donations may be sent to the Cardiac Unit of … Hospital”. This indicates to me that he must have died of a heart condition, of which he was warned 9/26/43 in 3240-1, Par. 3.

B1. 9/26/43 He and his wife were present for 3240-1, saying they had read about Mr. Cayce in the Coronet. (They had previously made the appointment by phone.) He submitted questions about cause and remedy for pains in back, deafness in right ear, dizziness at times, and sharp pains in back of head at times.
