This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 9th day of August, 1935, in accordance with request made by the son - Mr. [257], Active Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.
[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno. L. B. Cayce.]
Time of Reading 10:55 to 11:10 A. M. Eastern Standard Time. N.Y.C. (Physical Suggestion)
-
EC: Yes. As we find, conditions are about at a standstill. They are not improving greatly. But that they are not making greater inroads is an indication for betterments.
-
As we find, it would be well that the body be quiet, and in the open as much as possible - or where there may be outside activity.
-
Well that a shield be worn for the protection of those portions where the injury is indicated.
-
Use the Plantain salve consistently. This is not consistently used in the present.
-
It is NECESSARY, as indicated, that the eliminations and the drainages be set up from the cervical and upper dorsal areas. As we find, the manipulations osteopathically are preferable in this particular or specific condition to the chiropractic treatments. We find that there would be more sympathy from the osteopath with the electrical treatments that have been indicated in the X-Ray or the flashes; and such electrical treatments should be conducted or be maintained by the one giving the manipulative forces, or one in accord with same, so that these are made to accord one with another.
-
DO NOT use the ultra-violet SO STRONG if the X-Ray treatments are given. The X-Ray treatments would not be given more than once in two weeks or the like, you see. So, three or four days after the X-Ray treatment begin with the violet ray hand machine (rather than the ultra-violet). To be sure, this is objectionable to the body, but if the bulb is placed on the body and THEN the current turned on - GENTLY - this will NOT be objectionable. It is necessary to start eliminations, and to keep them maintained to overcome this tendency for the accumulations in the stomach of the forces that should be carried from the system - and that cause the inability for the food values to be taken.
-
Take the red wine AS a meal, with black or heavy bread.
-
The lighter wines or champagne should be SIPPED, as to make for a settling of the stomach and to strengthen the body.
-
If the beef juice is prepared properly, without any of the fat, and SIPPED - NOT taken in spoonsful - it will strengthen and WILL digest!
-
Do that.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) Should she go to Hay Sanitarium at Briar Cliff, N.Y., or the Sanatorium at East Aurora, N.Y., organized by Dr. Hay, or the Catholic Sanatorium at Denville, N.J.? (A) We do not find that a sanitarium would be the better place for the body; from the mind’s activity and from many of the surroundings and conditions. It should be where it may be in the open more, and where it may have someone of its own family to look after it.
-
(Q) Should Dr. Dobbins, Dr. Rein [D.C.] (Ryan), or Dr. Stenberg [D.C.] of Richmond Hill, L. I., be used for the treatments? [Gottfrid Stenberg, D.C.] (A) One of the osteopathic school is the better, who will cooperate with the electrical treatments as indicated. Dobbins. [Frank P. Dobbins, D.O.]
-
(Q) Who would be best doctor for the X-Ray flashes? (A) As indicated, one in cooperation with the osteopath.
-
(Q) If X-Ray flashes are given, what should be done about the Ash, and the present lamp that she uses daily? (A) We have indicated that these would not be given at the same time; but three to four days after the X-Ray treatments use the violet ray hand machine, NOT the ultra-violet ray, following the small doses of Ash taken.
-
(Q) What effect will the X-Ray flashes have on the system? (A) Stimulate those portions to activity and DESTROY the activities that make for inroads in the condition here.
-
(Q) Any danger of burning the flesh and causing other disorders? (A) Always danger with X-Ray! This, then, should be given ONLY under the supervision of someone TRAINED in same. Hence, as indicated, such an one should be in sympathy with the activities of the one giving the osteopathic manipulations.
-
(Q) What will stop the pain when it arises in the right breast? (A) Only a sedative.
-
(Q) Is the wound so deep that its inroads cannot be stopped? (A) It would be well for those who have considered this to begin from that we gave through those sources concerning this condition some fifteen to sixteen years ago, and read ALL of that given since! that it is a growth, gradual.
-
(Q) What will stop the further inroads? (A) Only keeping the eliminations bettered. These are reaching serious conditions, to be sure.
-
(Q) How much wine and how often? (A) A small wine glass full once a day is a meal, with the bread as indicated. Sips of the others; the heavy red wine or the communion wine - of its own faith. [Hebrew - Kosher wine?]
-
(Q) Would the juice of vegetables be good for her as prepared by Foltus restaurants, or better the whole vegetables? (A) Better the whole vegetables, for those juices are not always prepared the best way.
-
(Q) What can be done when she feels like jumping out of her skin because she can’t let loose of her nerves? (A) Only the activities that will make for the QUIETING of the nerve centers, as we have indicated may be had best by the OSTEOPATHIC treatments gently given to the centers.
-
(Q) Where should the drainages be set up in the body? (A) We have given that the drainages should be set up from the cervical and upper dorsals, that the eliminations from the whole of the system may be carried throughout the body.
-
(Q) What would be best to use to prevent the chafing and irritation of the wound itself, when she wears clothes? (A) As indicated, use a PROTECTOR; as they used to have shields, see?
-
(Q) Is the salve she uses properly mixed? (A) We have just indicated that this should be made with the equal weight of the cream or butterfat AND plantain; the plantain bruised or ground before, you see. Boil together sufficiently long as to make a FUSION; not just COME to a boil!
-
(Q) Should any of her teeth be removed? (A) Why cause more and MORE destructive forces or irritations when the body is ALREADY disturbed so much! This should ONLY be in extreme conditions! Just take care of these.
-
(Q) Which teeth need attention? (A) Look and see!
-
Do these things that we have indicated for the better condition of this body in the present.
-
We are through with this reading.

Reports & Follow-up
R1. 8/10/35 “I rec’d your dear letter and it made me feel better. I am sorry that I can’t write to you as I would like to, but I have had a great deal of pain in my right side and I still am very ill. [257] sent you some questions and I’ll be pleased if you get them for me, as I do not want my readings to go to his home, as she [903] is the fault of all my illness.
“We can’t get clear on the massage doctor. Please ask just how much massage should be given, when and where. How is liver getting along? As you have the questions, I’ll be hearing from you. Keep well. My love to all at your house.” [See her son [257]‘s questions which got asked in 325-60.]
R2. 8/23/35 Son [257]‘s ltr.: “Mother gained two pounds so far, and Dr. Frank P. Dobbins [D.O.] is about fifteen miles away from her, so he sees her twice a week. In addition he’ll help with lights. She is in care of St. Francis Home, Denville, N.J. Drop her a line.”
R3. 8/27/35 “Mother is at the St. Francis Home, Room 305 N at Denville, N.J., and wants to leave there next Sunday. Write her direct and please send me a copy - unless something is said she shouldn’t know. In that case send both copies to me. In fact, if possible, send three copies, so Dr. Dobbins can have one; otherwise I’ll give him mine…
“Dobbins is very anxious to show results and I’ll appreciate this guidance.”
R4. 8/28/35 Mother [325]‘s ltr. rec’d after 325-61 was given on 8/29/35: “My dear Judge: Well, the children carried me off to the country, as the doctor said I would have to get away from the fumes and heat. I held out not to go, but he said that I could not pull through if I did not get out. There is much to say. The rdgs. are good but so hard to get the doctor to follow. Dr. Dobbins said, ‘What part of the body to apply the the hand light to, and how long, and the plantain should it be put on the sore?’ Dr. Dobbins has no hand light. Is it safe for him to use on my body for trial for first time?
“I hope, dear Judge, that you will forgive my short and unsatisfactory letters. Believe me, I could not hold the pen; but I am getting stronger. How can I get an appetite? How is my stomach and liver getting along?
“[257] is getting started again, thank God. Soon we will see you and I hope to tell you in person.”
