This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 1st day of October, 1943, in accordance with request made by the self - Miss [3254], new Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research and Enlightenment, Inc., recommended by Mr. [1965].

1. GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body; answering the questions, as I ask them:

2. EC: Yes, we have the body here, [3254].

3. Now, in giving that as we find would be most beneficial for this body many phases of the entity’s experiences must be taken into consideration. For, there are pathological conditions, there are also psychic or psychological conditions that must be corrected.

4. These of course have to do, then, with the mental body itself and the ability of the entity to centralize or to agree within itself as to its hopes, its desires, and how it would use its abilities and its efforts.

5. If these are to be of a selfish nature, there will be little use of any corrective measures. But all animosity, all hate, all jealousy, must be eliminated from the mental self, and the hopes and the desires to be able to contribute to the welfare of those less fortunate than self. For, remember, unless we may learn to love that something in even those who have been and are our enemies, we have not begun to think straight. For the law of the Lord is perfect and it converteth the soul. And it is the soul that one would save.

6. With that as the correct attitude, - consider:

7. Who healeth thine afflictions? who giveth life to those that would seek His face?

8. That should be done first.

9. In the physical forces of the body there are many disturbances, congestions, caused by the body closing itself towards those conditions that have become at times most unbearable for the physical being. But the physical being is affected because it has sought its own way of doing things.

10. Hence we have poor eliminations, we have a quickening oft of the circulation as related to heart and lungs, liver and kidneys. The central nervous system and the central blood supply have become clogged in the sympathetic system, the sympathetic body, the lymph and the sympathetic nervous system running against same. No organic trouble in liver, kidneys, heart or lungs but sympathetically all of these have become involved.

11. Poisons then have made for conditions through the lymph body. These cause the organs of the sensory system to suffer at times, as the eyes, ears, nose and the like.

12. As we find there should be taken a series of hydrotherapy treatments, of this type or nature, however: Begin with not a dry heat bath but a Fume Bath using an equal combination of Witchhazel and Oil of Sassafras Root in the water boiling in the cabinet to produce the fumes.

13. In the rubdown following this, unless grain alcohol is used rather than wood or denatured alcohol, it will cause a rash. But we need to stimulate the superficial circulation.

14. Follow each Fume Bath with the needle shower, and then a thorough rubdown - after the body has had at least ten minutes of the Ultra-Violet Light with the green glass projected between this and the body; so as to stimulate not only the structural portions of body, - but with the relaxing, do use those periods for dedicating self for a real service.

15. Follow same with the Pine Oil rubs rather than other characters of oils for this body.

16. Have such a hydrotherapy treatment once each week for five to six weeks. Then rest from these for three weeks. Then have another series, and so on.

17. Throughout the rest periods, or beginning when there is the first three weeks rest period from the hydrotherapy treatments, - use the Radio-Active Appliance for at least thirty to sixty minutes each day. Use those periods for meditating, - that is, while the Radio-Active Appliance is being used for equalizing the circulation in the lymph and the nerve forces through the body. Keep the attachment plates very clean or polished each time before and after using. Alternate the attachments; right wrist, left ankle; left wrist, right ankle; and so on.

18. Use for the meditation this, though in the own words: FATHER, GOD! IN THY LOVE, IN THY MERCY, BE THOU NEAR UNTO ME NOW; THAT I MAY CHOOSE TO DO AND TO BE THAT THOU WOULD HAVE ME BE AT THIS TIME. I ASK IT IN THE NAME OF THE CHRIST WHO PROMISED TO BE NEAR WHEN WE CALL.

19. Mean it, be it, live it! And ye will find a new life flowing into thy body.

21. (Q) What may overcome my fear of noise at times? (A) By following out these suggestions indicated, ye will know there is nothing to fear - when He walks or talks with thee.

22. (Q) Will that tired feeling in my spine wear off? (A) With the massages. These, of course, will not be rubbed over the end of spine where there has been the operative forces - which cause part of the disturbance. But with the oil rubs there will be established better connections or associations with the nerves and muscular forces of the lower limbs, with other portions of the body. The breath will be better. The breathing and the assimilation and the whole activity.

Do that.

Mr. Edgar Cayce Virginia Beach, Va.

Dear Sir:

Would you be so kind and let me know, how soon can I have a reading? And how much would the fee be if I had two readings one on life and one on health. I had one about two years ago, but I could never find out of a place for such treatments.

As to my health. I have trouble with my back for the past five years, two years ago I was operated on, and had part of the coccyx removed, but my back and bottom itches me terrible. I had more X-rays taken and now the Doctors claim I have Arthritis which I cannot believe, because my back aches me, when I stand long or when I sit my bottom hurts me too much.

Then I get terrible heart burns or whatever it is, it seems I cannot make the Doctor understand. One Doctor wanted to operate claims, that I have a cyst on one ovary and that causes it. I’m undecided on what to do. I would like a reading and see what you would suggest.

As to life. I’m very disgusted due that I’m not a young girl and being the oldest of the family, it seems that I was just downed so much and as a young girl never allowed to do anything. I was always reminded that I’m the oldest and setting a bad example. Now it seems my family got me so under their feet, that at times I’m sick of living. It seems there is nothing to live for. I’m too attached to my family. I think the world of them, and I try so hard but it seems I just have no luck of winning them over. I’m the one always has to take the worst of everything; whether it’s in company or just family it seems I’m always cut short always in the wrong. I work for the past twenty years in the same factory and find no trouble with my co-workers. And yet home I have it so hard.

I know we all have faults. I’m sure I have them, and I try hard to check up on myself, but I seem to have no luck so please if you can give me a reading. I hope it’s as soon as possible.

One of all I would like to know, is there any chance of me ever getting married, I hate to live alone. As I have no intentions of ever living with my family, if ever anything happened to my father and I would have to break up home.

B1. 3/4/43 Letter: “I fell 2 yrs. ago & hurt my spine. Dr. told me it was just a bad bruise, that I should take hot baths and that it would wear off. He gave me 2 or 3 injections. I was hurt so badly that I was just about able to navigate. I could never walk the stairs well nor lift my body… I have suffered with that spine ever since…not that I could not sit but I had to be very careful how I sat, as it hurt the very end of my spine so that when I got up I had to wait awhile till the pain wore off so I could start and walk… In Dec. I went to a doctor who suggested I have X-Ray taken which I did and it showed I had a cracked spine at the coccyx. He suggested I have that removed. So Jan. 10, 1943 I was operated on and suffered terribly. Now I am still home from work, but what really worries me is I get very tired and my back from my waist down gets very tired. I cannot sit long and my spine seems to be sore… I imagine a bone takes a long time to heal up… I have another trouble which I never tell anyone about. I had a nervous breakdown about 14 yrs. ago. I was under doctors’ care for a very long time. I really got scared at work of my own shadow. As European people have such crazy beliefs that when you see 2 shadows of yourself it means death, I used to hear that so many times from the old folks that when I think of it now it scares me…though I’m not superstitious. I had some trouble and all of a sudden due to all the lights which are all around it made it about 4 shadows of a person, and I know it was silly of me, so I wouldn’t tell anyone what scared me. So that went into a nervous breakdown, and now I don’t know whether it is from that, but I can’t call it a pain…it is more like a burning feeling in my left side, around the heart, or under the heart, sometimes in the back. It really starts under the ribs on the left side of the stomach and travels like lightening…a hot fire traveling…it only lasts a second, sometimes only a flash… Please, if it is serious, I would rather not know it, but I would like to know if there is anyone who could cure me. Many times I even leave the crowd and walk away, as it frightens me so much, for fear they will say it is heart trouble. It seems I live in constant fear.”
