This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 8th day of October, 1943, in accordance with request made by the self - Mr. [3269], new Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research and Enlightenment, Inc., recommended by the Radio Review of the book, THERE IS A RIVER.

Time of Reading 10:40 to 10:50 A. M. Eastern War Time. …, Penna.

1. GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body; answering the questions, as I ask them:

2. EC: Yes, we have the body, [3269].

3. Conditions are not good - very serious.

4. As we find, there has come such a complication of disturbances, unless there is a great deal of care, these conditions will be rather serious for the body - for this experience.

5. For a long period there has been a plethoric condition in the colon. This first brought on the thrombose condition. And the disturbance there now has formed lesions, by swelling, so that we have the complication not only from a stroke but from the poisons that have been exhumed throughout the system from all of this combination. Thus there has been brought on a neuritic and an arthritic-neuritic condition.

6. As we find, rest.

7. And daily, for a period sufficient to remove these toxic conditions from the colon, just so it doesn’t tire the body too much, we would have - very carefully given - hydrotherapy treatments. These should include hot packs or Fume Baths using witchhazel; not attempting dry heat. Also colonics, but scientifically given, and oil massage - using an equal combination of Olive Oil, Peanut Oil and Pine Oil. Massage these over the areas of the limbs and portions of the body where there are those acute pains.

8. The colonics should be given rather frequently until all of the mucous has been cleared from the colon, and then we will find the pressures and the thrombose will be aided; that is, the enlargement of the heart and also the areas in the chest - where there has been the leakage in the thrombose (the cause or source of the stroke). But this will require that the body keep very quiet, and that there be very little moving about of the body.

9. Use a salt and soda solution for the first waters injected; a level teaspoonful of baking soda and a heaping teaspoonful of table salt to each gallon of water. In the last or rinse water use a tablespoonful of Glyco-Thymoline to the half gallon of water. These colonics should be very carefully given, only by a professional - one skilled in giving such.

10. Diet should be semi-liquid and not too much.

11. Keep in the open as much as possible, and keep as quiet as possible - otherwise the next will be the separation.

12. But do these for the better conditions.

R1. GD’s note: Although EC gave the reading free of charge, on 10/19/43 Mr. [3269] wrote that he was unable to follow the treatment because of no income and living on a small pension which his wife got because of being almost blind.

I have yours of the 19th. I wish that I had some suggestions to make regarding your circumstances. I don’t know but it seems to me that there should be someone there that could help you. How about the Masonic order?

B1. 8/23/43 Ltr.: “I had a stroke about 2 yrs. ago, following an appendicitis operation… I suffer a lot…guess it has turned to arthritis… I suffer very much pain…”

B2. 9/30/43 Ltr.: I have been in a very critical condition for 8 mos. and none of the doctors ever did me any good… I had an operation for appendicitis and was home from the hospital about a week when I took a stroke, and they call it Thrombosis. My right side is in a bad condition. My right leg and foot hurt me terribly, and so much pain…it seems like the nerves and muscles…that is what the doctor says, but he can’t help me. I scarcely get any sleep.
