GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body; answering the questions, as I ask them.
-
EC: (In making the location - “matron’s office” - .)
-
Yes, we have the body, [3284].
-
Now, as we find, there are disturbances that prevent the better physical functioning of this body. These, as we find, as to the acute condition, are from definite causes and are, apparently, far from where the effects are seen.
-
These, then, are conditions as we find them with this body:
-
The blood supply indicates a great deal of toxic conditions and these - combined with the specific crosses where pressures exist in the coccyx and lumbar area of the body, cause the agitans or the trembly sensation along portions of the spine, which is indicated in the inability of the body to control the muscular forces in head and neck; giving considerable pains at times at the 1st and 2nd cervical area - while the pressure, as indicated, is in the coccyx and lumbar area.
-
These toxic conditions, too, need attention. For, unless these are corrected, the corrections for the others would be of little significance - or other conditions that affect heart, liver and kidneys, may be even in worse condition after a little. For, these are producing plethora in the abdominal area or colon, in the ascending area of the colon. And this gives some distress at times; though only when there has been an unusual amount of exercise, standing, walking or excitement for the body.
-
Then, in making corrections, all of these conditions are to be taken into consideration.
-
First, there should be sufficient hydrotherapy treatments to correct the plethoric condition in the colon. This will also aid in correcting the prolapsus in the descending area, or across the transverse and a portion of the descending area of the colon. Colonic irrigations should be given scientifically by a good hydrotherapist. There should be at least three or four of these before other corrections are attempted. These should be at least ten days or two weeks or more apart, dependent upon the manner in which these are used.
-
For such colonic irrigations we would use water, body temperature, carrying soda and salt as a cleanser or purifier, in the proportions of a heaping teaspoonful of table salt and a level teaspoonful of baking soda to each half gallon of water. In the last rinse water, use a tablespoonful of Glyco-Thymoline or Lavoris to each half gallon of water.
-
After the colon condition has been corrected (through the colonic irrigations), begin with osteopathic treatments. But apply wet heat before attempting to adjust the coccyx and the sacral conditions where pressures exist. Make these corrections first, then coordinate - at each treatment, the 9th dorsal, the upper dorsal, and throughout the cervicals, with those corrections made in coccyx and sacral area. When beginning these treatments with the osteopath we should have these at least twice a week for the first series of about twelve or fifteen treatments. Rest then from all the applications for two to three weeks, and then the whole procedure may be necessary to go over again - dependent upon the reactions of the body.
-
Be mindful in the diet that there is little meat. Fish and fowl, when any is taken. Leafy vegetables are preferable to those of the pod variety. Very little white potatoes. No white bread, no spaghetti or macaroni or things of that nature, but leafy vegetables and green vegetables often. Especially have plenty of watercress, green.
-
Do these, and we will make for better conditions for this body.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) Any suggestions as to daily exercise or other routine? (A) Not such a great quantity of exercise while these treatments are being taken.
-
(Q) How can I improve my eyesight? (A) With the improvement of these pressures especially in the upper dorsal and the cervicals, the eyesight will be aided.
-
(Q) Any particular doctor in this vicinity that you would suggest? (A) A good hydrotherapist, then a good osteopath.
-
We are through with this reading.
Two copies to Self - (one for the hydrotherapist and osteopath) Copy to Ass’n file ” ” Miss Goodall for indexing
(We do not know of a hyrdotherapist in your vicinity. Several years ago we had some contact through another patient with an osteopath in Mobile: Dr. Meredith White, First National Bank Bldg., Mobile, Ala. He may be able to recommend a hydrotherapist who can give you the colonics which are to prepare you for the osteopathic treatments.

Reports & Follow-up
R1. 10/10/44 [3284]‘s letter to EC:
“Enclosed please find check for $25.00 for which, please renew my membership in the Association for Research and Enlightenment.
“In regard to my own physical condition, I wish to say that I followed the suggestions made in my physical reading. I could not discover a hydrotherapist anywhere near Mobile. However, I found in New Orleans a chiropractor who gave colonics. I took them as suggested and then took twenty osteopathic treatments from Dr. White. I was not at all satisfied, however, with these treatments because Dr. White did not follow the directions given by you in your reading. I also followed in general the directions given for diet. I was able to get watercress until summer, at least every two weeks. (I have not been able to get any lately.) I felt somewhat stronger until the first of September. My neck has given me more trouble of late, and I have suffered somewhat from lower vitality. I also took four colonics from a doctor, a chiropractor, in Asheville, North Carolina, this summer, but he insisted on giving them only a few days apart, and they did not seem to me to be as helpful as the treatments taken in New Orleans. I plan to go through the whole series a little later this fall with a different doctor to give the osteopathic treatments.
“I have had some trouble with hemorrhoids. I believe you recommend a certain salve for that trouble. I should like to know where it can be obtained.
“It does not seem to me that a Check reading just now would be advisable, but by the time one could be given (perhaps a year from now), I should like to have one…”
R2. 11/29/44 GD’s letter to [3284]: “The delay in answering your letter had been due to the fact that recently Mr. Cayce has returned home after being away over two months, and the house had to be made ready. He is not at all well. In fact, according to his last reading and also the doctors’ reports, he is suffering from complete nerve exhaustion. Therefore it will be some months before he will be able to resume his readings and, even then, not in such great numbers as he has heretofore been giving. We are following the last reading in detail and he seems much stronger since getting home. He only answers a few personal letters each day and receives visitors about an hour each afternoon - only those who will not be a drain on him.
“Thank you so much for your Active Membership fee. Now we are greatly depending on our memberships and publications to ‘carry us through’ this period when we feel such a lack in every direction on account of not being able to have the daily readings. Our files are full of material though, and - as Mrs. Frances Durham and Miss Marie Starkey of your city suggest - it is perhaps a testing for all of us, to prove the worth of the Association. We have all depended too much on Mr. Cayce. We have allowed him to give too much. Our organization should learn to digest and apply what he has already given.
“I am sorry you have not been able to fully carry out the suggestions made in your reading, and I hope the next attempt will bring better results. The hemorrhoid salve you mention is prepared by Mr. A. M. Godfrey, 2823 E. Princess Anne Rd., Norfolk, Va. It is called TIM and sells for $1.00 a jar. Also I’m enclosing an extract from a reading [1223-8] giving an injection which many people have found helpful.
“The enclosed forms will explain the manner in which we are attempting to handle the still heavy correspondence. I’m sure you are glad to hear that Mr. Sugrue is now in complete charge of all our publications. I feel that we will be able to give you much material from our files that will be interesting and helpful during the coming year of your Active Membership…”
R3. 2/20/45 [3284]‘s letter to GD: “Could you possibly send me a copy of the reading made for me by Edgar Cayce in October, 1943? I am so sorry to request this, but apparently all copies sent me have been lost, and I can find no trace of them. I shall be glad to pay the cost of the copy, of course.
“I was sorry to hear of the death of Edgar Cayce. He was a very remarkable person, and a very selfless person. It may turn out, however, that we here, on this side, are the gainers by his passing into a higher field of usefulness…”
R4. 9/11/68 “Several years ago I had a reading from Edgar Cayce concerning a physical condition which was of great help to me. This reading, unfortunately, has been lost and I am very anxious to recover a copy of it. I shall be glad to pay whatever you ask if you can get this from your files.”
R5. 9/13/68 GDT’s note: Copy was sent; also current data about A.R.E. activities.
Background
Background
B1. 6/22/43 Letter: “A difficulty of several years standing. Doctors have been unable to cure me and I have gradually grown worse. My trouble manifests itself in spasmodic movements of the head, or sometimes a strong pulling to one side. Sometimes the movement is a tremor, similar to palsy. There is often continuous pain at the base of my head…”
B2. Questions submitted for 3284-1:
- What is the cause of this trouble and what treatment would you suggest?
- What particular doctor would you suggest?
- Any suggestions as to diet?
- Daily exercise, or other routine?
- How can I improve my eyesight?
