GC: You will give the physical condition of this body at the present time, with further suggestions for corrective measures; answering the questions, as I ask them:
-
EC: Yes. Ready for questions.
-
(Q) In my original reading it spoke of muscle deterioration. Will this come back to normal? (A) As we find there are already great improvements in the condition. These tendencies will remain until there has been builded in the system and in the glandular force the necessary influences to prevent such activity. It will be necessary, then, that every once in a while - two to three times during a year - there be the repeating of the whole outline suggested; gradually getting farther and farther apart. First we would begin - in about six to eight weeks - to repeat the whole of that suggested. Then about eight to ten weeks later, and so on - just a little farther apart each time.
These as we find should eliminate the sources of the disturbance.
-
(Q) Should I restrict my activities in work or exercise in any way? (A) There is not necessarily needed a restricting of activities; provided those suggestions indicated are followed through.
-
(Q) If I keep my mental attitude right and take care of myself physically, will I be entirely cured? (A) Will be entirely cured.
-
(Q) Are my lungs in good condition? (A) These are in fairly good condition, and we will find that they, too, will improve in the following of the suggestions indicated.
-
(Q) Are my eyes in good condition? (A) These are good. There needs to be those corrections necessary, a little later, with glasses.

We are through with this Reading.

R1. 7/23/44 [3285]‘s ltr. to EC:
Dear Mr. Cayce,
[Order taken] I am enclosing a check for one dollar for the June Congress Booklet.
My check physical reading pleased me very much. I knew there must have been some improvement because I really feel wonderful now. In answer to my question as to how long I should keep up the treatment, the Reading said to allow six to eight weeks to lapse between each treatment and gradually taper it off. For exactly how long do you think I should keep up the treatment two or three times a year? Would you say five years were too long? Do you believe it advisable to do it once a year for the rest of my life, no matter how well I feel?
My Associate Membership runs out in October and at that time I am planning to become an Active Member. I have been wanting to ask you for a long time whether you would like me to cut out any articles of interest to the Association I see, and either send them to you or collect them in a scrap book to send at a later date. They have very interesting articles in the science section of the N.Y. Herald Tribune. I cannot count on being as active in the Association as I would like, until my husband comes home from overseas and I am no longer working.
Sincerely, [3285]
R2. 7/26/44 EC’s ltr. to [3285]:
Dear Mrs. [3285]
Thank you very much for yours of the 23rd.
I am glad indeed to know that you are improving. I would follow through with the suggestions every three to four months until you are feeling entirely well, and then only when conditions seem to demand that you do it over again.
We would appreciate very much, any of the articles or material you may find of interest to send in to the Association. You fix them just as it suits your convenience the most, and we hope, too, that we may keep you as one enrolled in our work here.
Hoping that we may indeed, from time to time, be the means of real service, and with every good wish,
Sincerely, Edgar Cayce EC:gp
R3. 10/10/44 GD’s ltr. to [3285]:
Dear Mrs. [3285]
Thank you very much for your check for Active Membership. It is such cooperation as this which will enable us to carry on our research program. I hope that we may also give you, through such research, much interesting and helpful information in our publications during the coming year. You will be glad to know that Mr. Sugrue is taking over the entire publication program, including the Bulletin and Weekly Letter. This is, of course, a great responsibility taken off the shoulders of Mr. Cayce and his co-workers in the office here. The Weekly Letter may be two or three weeks late, but you will get several in a bunch once they begin coming.
The Congress Booklet is now being printed and should be mailed within the next few days. Due to Mr. Cayce’s illness and the many changes necessitated in our office routine, everything has been held up for the last few weeks. I am glad to say that Mr. Cayce is steadily improving, though it seems awfully slow. He is having to follow the same line of treatment suggested through the reading for Mr. Sugrue, for rebuilding lost nerve energy.
I am enclosing some forms which we are using now to answer first inquiry letters and appointment cancellations, which will give you some idea of how we are handling things in order to give more time to research work - even with a third of the office force we once had.
With very best wishes and hoping that you will write us from time to time if you have helpful suggestions, I am
Sincerely, [signed] Gladys Davis Sec’ty ASS’N FOR RESEARCH AND ENLIGHTENMENT, INC.
R4. 3/4/48 GD’s note: Mrs. [3285] wrote expressing her continued interest in A.R.E. and all our publications, but because of her husband’s lack of interest and “fear” because some of his family had gone off the deep end re. spiritualism, etc., she was discontinuing her membership for the present. She hoped later to win her husband’s interest and cooperation in the A.R.E. work.

B3. 4/9/44 [3285]‘s ltr. to EC:
Dear Mr. Cayce,
Thank you ever so much for making my check Physical Reading for Sunday afternoon April 23rd between 3:30 and 4:30. I will be at the above address at that time. I do not like to stay away from the office, which I did for my last two readings, and I appreciate very much your making my appointment over a week-end, especially when you are so busy.
I imagine this check reading will tell my condition and the progress I have made, but the following questions are the definite questions I would like asked. I trust they are not too many.
- In my original reading it spoke of muscle deterioration. Will this come back to normal?
- Should I restrict my activities in work or exercise in any way? If so, for how long? Will I have to be careful all my life?
- If I keep my mental attitude right and take care of myself physically, will I be entirely cured?
- Will it be necessary for me to repeat the treatment, say once or twice a year, for the rest of my life, even though I feel well?
- Are my lungs in good condition?
- Are my eyes in good condition?
I don’t know whether I have told you before how many people have remarked how well I look, and what a difference there is in me. I am enclosing a check for eleven dollars, ten of which is for my reading, and one for another copy of “Search For God”, which I would like to order.
I can never thank you for the wonderful help you have brought me, that is, properly. I am looking forward to the time, after my husband is home from overseas and I have stopped work, when I can become an Active Member of the Association. I don’t think there was ever such a dear little book as “A Search For God”. It is written in such a way that it can reach all people. I have passed it on to a good many people and am thrilled at how much they love it.
I hope and pray that your health is much improved and will continue to be so.
Sincerely, [3285]
