GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body; answering the questions, as I ask them:
-
EC: (“Cold!”)
-
Yes, we have the body, [3295].
-
As we find, these are rather serious conditions and yet these may respond, or may not - dependent upon whether there can be kept sufficient desire on the part of the mental and spiritual body to remain in this physical vehicle.
-
With one in this condition, or period of unfoldment, it will require a great deal of patience and persistence. Do not be disturbed by others saying unkind things about the mental development of the body. Know first (the parents) within self, He will not give thee more than ye can bear - if ye are really, earnestly His.
-
The injuries produced in neck and head are hindering the developments.
-
Each day after the bath, massage the body for at least fifteen to twenty minutes with Glyco-Thymoline; from the base of the brain down the whole length of the spine - just after the body has been bathed in hot or warm or tepid water. Not too hard, yet always away from the brain. Massage all that the body will absorb.
-
Following this massage the body with cocoa butter, just that required to stimulate each side of the cerebrospinal system. This should be massaged also across the chest, the abdomen, and a great deal across the lower portion of the spinal column - hips and limbs.
-
Do this for the next six to eight months - then we would give you further instructions.
-
Do that.
-
(Set a period for this at present - they’ll desire it.)
-
We are through with this Reading.

R1. GD’s note: We did not hear again, regarding the new appointment or otherwise, until May 1956 when a member of A.R.E. wrote that she had recently met the child’s father who stated he had obtained a reading from Edgar Cayce years ago and that his boy had died at about the age of two years old or thereabouts.

B1. 6/3/43 Mother’s letter:
Mr. Edgar Cayce Virginia Beach, Va.
Dear Mr. Cayce:
Sometime ago, I heard of you through my sister who lives in Front Royal. She heard about the book of your life, THERE IS A RIVER, over the radio. She ordered and read the book and then passed it on to me, thinking I might be interested in a reading for my baby boy who received a brain injury when born.
For a long time he was very ill and we did not expect him to live, but he is now ten months old and a beautiful big healthy looking boy. He never has been able to hold his head up straight without support. Keeps his eyes rolled upward much of the time, but does look down and seem to focus his eyes on me occasionally. He does not sit up, and when propped up or lying down he pulls himself to the right. He always lies on his back or right side. I never put him on his left side because it seems to hurt, he will raise himself on his elbow and cry. He has never cried normally, and he is not developing mentally although physically he seems to be in fine health and has gained normally.
I would like very much for you to give him a reading.
Yours very truly, Mrs. […]
