Time of Reading 11:25 A. M. Eastern War Time. …, Florida.

1. GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body; answering the questions, as I ask them:

2. EC: Yes - up here on the right.

3. Yes, we have the body here. These are rather serious disturbances. The condition is gradually becoming more acute, cutting off the food supply by the inability of the body to swallow - except liquids and only very small quantities. There is such swelling in the cardiac portion of the stomach as to close the esophagus.

4. We would apply Glyco-Thymoline Packs as so to relax this. Apply these with heat.

5. While these are being applied would be the better time for the body to take beef juices, lemonade, orangeade and all of such liquid foods.

6. Also as adjustment is required here in the 3rd cervical, 4th and 5th cervical, that may relieve this tension.

7. If this becomes more and more choked it will require operative measures. But doing these, as we find, offers the greater opportunity to meet these emergencies.

8. We are through for the present.

Dear Mr. Cayce:

It is with deepest appreciation that I write to thank you for your response to my appeal for an emergency reading for Miss [3322]. Knowing how crowded is your mail, I have waited to answer until I could give something of a report upon the results of the treatment.

I am very happy to report that she seems very much better. She is able now to take some solid food and has gained a little in weight.

She was somewhat disappointed at the brevity of her reading and wondered how many adjustments she ought to take. Also she expected to receive answers to the questions which she asked in my letter of request for special reading. She read in some of your literature that a better reading was received if there were questions and if the patient were in meditation at the time. Accordingly she prepared herself for from 10:30 to 11:30 as your letter directed and later found the reading was begun at 11:25.

Is she not entitled to questions in emergency readings or will this be adjusted later? Would a check reading be advisable for her?

Dear Miss […]

Thanks a great deal for yours of the 15th. Am certainly happy to know that Miss [3322] has shown some improvement. Oftentimes, where such emergency readings are taken, they are disappointing, for the reading apparently takes in consideration that it is something that has to be, I think, too immediate, and gives it as an emergency. It does not answer as many questions as when a full time period is able to be given. Of course, should she desire a check reading sometime after the first of the year, we will be glad to get it in as soon as we can, though I have to tell you, we have almost reached the saturation point, but will do the very best we can. Please remember me to Miss [3322].

Dear Mr. Cayce:

Have just finished reading the book written by Sugrue, about you and your life work.

I have been praying for God’s guidance for a specific situation and I feel sure that this is the answer. It came to me through my dear friend [3322], a nurse of fine character.

She is herself in a very bad shape physically, can keep nothing on her stomach. She has sought the help of doctors and they have failed to help her. She feels, too, that she needs the help of God.

Also my dear brother [3570] has long sought the right cure for himself and has not found it.

They as well as I request readings through your help. We seek the most satisfactory way of getting it.

B2. 9/13/43 Friend’s letter:

Dear Mr. Cayce:

Your letter of September 9th just received. I hasten to write again at once for I was surprised to find that you had not understood the urgency of my first letter.

Miss [3322], my brother [3570] and myself have each read “There is a River”. Read it again and parts of the “Philosophy” several times. It seems to elucidate the teaching of the Bible, being more nearly in the language of the age in which we live. We feel convinced of the work you are doing and need no further proof.

We are each anxious to have readings as soon as possible. Miss [3322] is very sick and can keep nothing on her stomach

• can not eat a simple meal. She has been told by physicians that she has a stricture of the esophagus and holds the food from the stomach until it gets sour. She then suffers from gas and hunger.

B3. 10/11/43 Friend, Mr. [3570]‘s letter:

Suffolk, Va.,

Mr. Edgar Cayce, Virginia Beach, Va.

My dear Mr. Cayce:

After our very enjoyable & helpful visit with you this afternoon we followed your suggestion about yellow saffron and finally found some (the Spanish) at Barron and Martins Drug store at 414 Main St., Norfolk, Va. (the address for your information).

Inasmuch as we are pressed for time to arrive in Florida by a given date, it seemed ill advised to return to Virginia Beach and avail ourselves of the opportunity to hear you give a reading tomorrow morning, as much as we would have like to do so. We therefore continued directly on our way, after being so fortunate as to find the Spanish Yellow Saffron as near as Norfolk. Miss [3322] has already started to take the tea and we hope it will prove helpful and shall report to you on her future progress.

It seems too bad that as fine a person and so competent a registered nurse should be idle and suffering, when nurses are needed so badly. Two doctors have told her there is nothing more to do for her, but the treatment they followed has not relieved her. I am sure you will put her in for a reading at the earliest possible date and at the address we left for you, …, Florida.

Mr. Edgar Cayce Virginia Beach, Va.

Dear Mr. Cayce:

Your letter followed us to Florida giving [3322] and […] Jan 17th morning and afternoon respectively, and myself Sept. 22, 1944. For Mr. […] and for me the time is satisfactory. As for Miss [3322] we are becoming more and more concerned. As Mr. […] wrote you Miss [3322] secured the Spanish yellow saffron in Norfolk and has been taking it faithfully but of no avail.

She has been in bed most of the time since we arrived. Though she tries to get nourishment every day in liquid form nothing seems to go through to the stomach. It lies in the esophagus until it ferments and she has to take it up with a stomach tube.

She is so brave and sane that she thanks God that she knows how to take the poisonous stuff out of her body. But I can see that her strength grows steadily less. Of course there must come an end to it unless something is done, and so Mr. Cayce, I am writing this letter to ask you to give her an emergency reading. Next Sunday if possible.

Last Saturday she seemed so low that I wrote out a night letter to send you. When she discovered what I was doing she protested that it made her feel very selfish to be asking for an immediate reading when there were people with “bullets through the back bone” or other worse conditions than hers.

But the way I feel about it is this. Miss [3322] is such a help and such a comfort to many sick people that it is a dreadful loss to the world to have her incapacitated. I can not sit by and see her slowly slipping away without doing every thing in my power to bring help her way. If you could know the unselfishness of this girl as I do I think you would agree with me.

How to cure and prevent the recurrence of stricture? Cause and cure for colds in this body? Are Chiropractic treatments correct? If Vitamins indicated what brand? Outline diet. Is meat necessary for this body? How long shall I fast? How to rid the body of mucus? What to do for hot and cold flashes? Can anything be done for liver spots? Where is the best place to live for health & work? I have puffy eyelids, brittle nails, floating spots before my eyes. What shall I do for these. Advise how to be a normal sleeper.

Why in waking moments do I see pictures, mostly still life, when I close my eyes? Is it a form of delirium?
